Hmm I think they are custom look at the size of the base compared to the figure, the base's look like the original skylanders ie gill grunt stealth elf and terrafin I think these are fake but good try though

I think they're the real deal, but I won't be buying them.

I've only recently bought the game but done a lot of work trying to find out about it. I understand the figures, adventure packs, general gameplay and so on. But what do the sidekicks do? Are they like companions who deal damage with you? Or are they just there for giggles?

As for the models, I desperately hope that those aren't final, or they're custom. Because the attention to detail from previous models (Trigger Happy I noticed a lot, same with Gill Grunt) is missing from these.

They're like Sparx from the Dragon Peak pack, they run around attacking enemies.

well if they put up a video showing them on a portal and them on the screen at the same time that would prove it

the bases will need to be the same size as the normal characters as they still need to contain the rfid chip to interact with the portal

yes but the magical elements aren't associated with a specific element whereas the sidekicks are. the bases will be larger to match the element bases.

i know that but they are smaller ergo they will only need a chip the size of the magical items

all the rfid chips are the same size. magic item rfid chips are the same size as character rfid chips ... base size is to do with aesthetics

ok so let me put it straight what i am saying, the sidekicks are smaller then the normal skylander, so therefore the base will be smaller I did not say that it would have the same base as the magical item, but it will be a smaller version of the element, those to me look too big I will eat my words if they are like that but I have this feeling that they are fake

but why create new moulds for element bases when they already have them and will just need to put the new characters on them? guess we'll find out soon enough

As for the bases, it makes sense for them to put them on regular elemental bases. Although they appear as Magic Items in game (As indicated from the gameplay videos we saw), it doesn't necessarily mean they HAVE to be on those bases.

Honestly, it's better this way. I don't really care for the Magic Item bases, so...it's cool they went and put the effort into having elemental themed ones.

I personally think they look adorable.

I'm just about 100% certain these are the real deal. They may even be in select stores already. You know Skylanders and being released without any notice. I'm tempted to believe these are on some lucky shopper's desk right now, and not an official photo. We'll see what eBay has to say later on.

Haha I was gonna say something about this.

Looks to me in the picture they're on a desk. Lots of stores have little back offices and stuff that the Manager is in [note that it's some sort of office desk. I can make out some sort of chart on that rounded object near the keyboard. It's one of those Cambells soup things]. Although it's just speculation right now, if they ARE on a manager's desk, it means that they have them in right now at some stores (in their stock room,; chips last for a long time, plus the date on the sell sheet is June 18th – July 13th 2012) and some sneaky manager has pulled some of the stock out.

Which, in turn would mean the figures are in the bags. Although, that's just all speculation. We'll know soon.

Basically, Frito-Lay is doing a second promo which will allow people to get "Sidekicks", mini creatures that resemble the regular Skylanders.

Its sad that they dont fight.

The only videos with the sidekicks have only been in "safe zones" ie places with no enemies. For all we know the sidekicks work like Sonic Boom's babies, idle in "safe zones" and leap into action when enemies are present.
