i noticed that many of the metallic cynders given at the toy fair had different shades. i know most people would say its cuz of the camera. but some look navy blue and some look like completely different shades of purple. so my theory is that there were different metallic cynders given.

Have you ever seen one in person? They're not one flat color, you can see purples and pinks in there depending on the lighting

Yes, it can look quite different depending on the lighting.

The paint used on it seems to be similar to the ones you'll occasionally see on cars. Depending on how you look at it, the color can go from Purple to Pink to Blue, etc.

It's called "chameleon," or having "pearl" in the paint.

I had a Camaro with chameleon colors. Depending on where you viewed it from, it would be a slightly different color than the color you would see if standing at another angle.

This Cynder does turn different shades of colors, depending where you look at it from and what the lighting conditions are.

huh, well that screws everything up! i went to micheals and bought a metallic purple paint color, i really wanted a metallic toy fair cynder but didnt want to buy it cuz of the over pricing on evilbay. (so no scalping reasons). anyone have a good suggestion as to what color i should buy?

Just buy whatever colour makes you happy - if you want to have a Toy Fair metallic Cynder then I am sure you will find a fairly priced one sooner or later. In the interim, have fun with a custom you painted yourself.

thanks, but i meant what color would be the closest? and maybe a link to buy it

I will clarify my point further - I personally feel it is a tad disengenuous to try to paint one to look like the exclusive. It just feels wrong and fake to me; if I were to customise one I would merely choose a colour I liked rather than try to imitate something else.

i understand, but im not gonna sell it, i just dont think its fair that people are and i dont want to pay ridiculous prices.

I understand that you don't want to sell it but I respectfully still maintain that trying to pass off a custom paint job as the "real thing" is a tad disengenuous.

i respect your beliefs, but im not trying to pass it off as the real thing. i just really want a metallic cynder color schemed cynder. its like me painting it as a spyro or a real cynder, except its purple and shiny. its fine if you dont want to help me, i can always ask someone else to.

If you don't want to pass it off as the real thing, then why get so specific about the colour? Why not simply choose a metallic purple that you like?

I don't want to look like I am trying to antagonise you, it just doesn't add up to me...

You don't want to pass it off as a Toy Fair item but you "want it to be as accurate as possible" - that sounds fairly mutually exclusive to me, I am afraid to say.

I am merely hoping you can illuminate the difference without getting defensive.

whatever, this is getting both of us nowhere. can you help me or not? its fine if you dont want me to paint one, ill still ask someone else for help. i just think this discussion is pointless and is bothering me cause the red mark thingy shows up on my inbox and i have ocpd.

Both of the Metallic Cynders I had were exactly the same color. I agree that the different colors in some pictures must be attributed to lighting.

Yes, I had 2 Metallic Cynders. I only intended to buy one, but ended up buying another off eBay at a lower price than I expected. I ended up having to sell both of them anyway, because I needed the money later.

thank you, i now have a good idea of what color it is. but i still have one problem, where could i buy the paint and what would it be called?
most paints show the shading of it, not the actual color
