Just thinking, if Spyro had kids whould they be Purple dragons to? If they were then wouldn't that mean the DM is Spyros dad?

I read on Ancestry.com that a generation is about 25 years.

So that would mean he'd only have to live for 250 years (Unless a Dragons generation is longer) and as the chronicler said he had been in the celestial caves for over thousands of years?

Well, considering there's 12 animals/years in the Chinese Zodiac... Year of the Dragon is when the eggs arrive in both continuities of the Spyro world, am I right?

And if I think really hard I want to think I heard "every 10 generations" somewhere, but I don't quite remember.

Dragon genes may play a part, too... Maybe the purple gene is so very, very recessive that it only has the chance to show up once every few generations. You know, the chance being so small each time that it just happens that way. *shrugs*

That was a pretty contribute-less bump... I-I think...

But in an attempt to veer it back on-topic, I doubt Cynder and Spyro's children will be any shade of purple, if it shows their children, and if these Etranges Libellules people give a care about the laws of nature and canon.

^If Spyro and Cynder have children, they would be very weird coz it would be a legendary Purple dragon, AND a partly evil dark black dragon.....weird...

I was thinking Spyro's homozygous recessive for the purple gene, though, so unless Cynder is part purple at all, they wouldn't have purple babies... But for the purple gene to be so rare, genes for hide color and such would have to have more than two alleles for sure... And some of those would control other traits too, like what color his wings are and what shape his horns are, similar to how white-coated tigers usually have blue eyes as well.

I don't know of many things that come out as a mixture, incomplete dominance, of either parent's appearance. I've only heard of it in flowers, like some species of red and white flowers make pink flowers and so on, but I haven't really looked into it. Like when a black cat and a white cat have kittens, they aren't all gray; some are black and some are white, and if one had gray cats in its family by coincidence, that's the only way they'd end up gray, see...

I'd say their babies would look mostly like whatever Cynder was supposed to be(my wild guess is fire), unless black is a natural color. Then they'd be black and/or whatever else Cynder has in her family.

Of course, it could all just be magic and by that magic there's no magically purple dragons for a long time, and it has nothing to do with how rare genes are. But that's boring to think about. :C

I think all the eggs r orphans...like, they hatch and then get trained by the guardians: fire dragons get taught by Ignitus, Earth dragons get taught by Terrador, ect, ect....i think Cynder was like an odd one out. that probably why Gaul picked her egg> _>many possibilities

Yes, there's definitely magic in the world of Spyro... That probably is the answer, but I still like to try thinking about it scientifically. Justifying magic with science is a fun thinking challenge, y'know? It's how mankind has learned a lot of things.

And even still, let's say it is all determined by magic: there could be different processes and causes of magic. Who's casting the magic? Is it even that kind of magic? Some natural magic ebbing from the earth? Who knows about that, either?

You could sit around and think of theories that could work, dozens and dozens of them. That's part of the fun, I think. :3
