I am confused is the Dark Master's name really Malfor or is that just made up and where did they get the name Malefor

It was stated by Nintendo Power that the DM's name will be Malefor; you can find the quote on Spyroworld. (Look it up on Google/Yahoo!)

His name is Malefor. The TEN level "Mountain of Malefor" was named after him (it takes a TRUE villain to name his fortress after himself).

The Montain was also named after him because that is where the Well of Souls is, and MAlefor is trapped in the Well.
