insomniac PWNS! universal not so much

Best: Spyro: Ripto's Rage/Getaway to Glimmer
Worst: Spyro: A Hero's Tail, sorry but I just hated that Spyro game. It's even worse than ETD in my opinion. The only characters I liked in the game are Red and Flame.

really? i liked heros tail it had a better story and less glicthes than ETD.

It may have less glitches, but I understand where artist_violet is coming from. Enter the Dragonfly may be glitchy but I know people that appreciate it because it was the closest thing we got to what Insomniac put together after their departure. Concerning A Hero's Tail, due to said feel completely changing altogether (no Stewart Copeland, atmosphere changed for a significantly younger audience, every recurring character gets a new voice actor, personalities alter in various cases, and not to mention the new villain Red - albeit more refreshing than getting Ripto back - was actually pretty lame for a villain), I can understand why people may have some awkward vibes with either that game or the Legend arc.

Worst: Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly

This should have been in the "Gaming" section of the site. But anyways, I really don't have a favorite or a least favorite game of Spyro. They all are pretty good. Although the only game that I didn't seem to like as much as the others was Spyro 4: Enter The Dragonfly. But even though the game was really different and wasn't the same as the classic Spyro games, it was still fun to play.

Worst: ETD

I don't hate ETD. i just felt they rushed it and it didn't feel complete.but it was still fun nonetheless.

I might as well chip in on this one.

Best - Ripto's Rage (and I keep on elaborating on so many improvements over the original on how this earns my top spot, including the graphical side, the save system, boss development, the bigger setups and all that.)

Worst - Spyro Orange (I can't understand how a minigame fest would qualify for something coherent to the series. I might also be saying this because this was the game that I replayed the least, in spite of claiming to be the first to find the sheep cards )

Oops, I forgot Orange. It's worse than SoI. Well, that's not really surprising; Orange isn't very memorable.

Best: Dawn of the dragon. (Haven't played it, but I am sure it the best)

There's a bunch of people, myself included, that think that mobile phone games shouldn't count. But yeah, it's a good thing the fairy dressing game ONLY came out for phones

Doesn't anyone besides me think that this topic should be "moved" to another section on this site? As far as I know, this doesn't really have anything to do with the "Fandom" section of the site, which is mostly composed of Spyro Stories and pics.

The super charge was still too slow for me.XP I'm rather impatient on the speed of my characters in a game(it's just me,I guess).Glad I don't have ANB on the DS,it sounds even worse.

Actually, if you take the speed out of consideration, it's actually one of the more polished DS Spyro titles IMO; the combat system for that one actually seems a lot more balanced than even its console counterpart, not to mention the awesome gem puzzles towed in as well (I have a real knack for those). It's a shame that even when going all the way through on Hard Mode for the beginning - for someone as skilled as I am - it ends up to be a little shorter than the console version and all >.>

The fact that he (she?) omitted Season of Flame shows that they might have been rubbed the wrong way by the others. Though, I personally can't see why Attack of the Rhynocs can be seen as one of the weakest in the series; if anything, it's one of the better titles that Digital Eclipse had contributed, even if the altered gameplay structure would make it a little unconventional.

Well, due to the technology they are quite limited as far as mechanics and graphics go. Sure, the console games and handheld games on actual, made-for-video-games devices might be more fun to play, but as far as cell phone games go, these last two Spyro ones could be good. It'd be hard to judge...

Not that I'm disagreeing with you, just thought I'd expand on the point. Those are in a gray area I wouldn't consider best or worst.

I have seperated the Insomniac era from the Sierra era because personally I don't think it's worth comparing the two. I included some reasons for my choices, which you can skip if you wish. I just don't like to give opinions without providing some explaination for them.

Insomniac era:
Best: GTG
Worst: YotD

GTG is my favourite largely because it was the first playstation game I ever owned but not the first I ever played (that title belongs to STD). It also had a decent story, albeit fairly basic and, for whatever reason, it just felt funner than STD and YotD.

Sierra era:
Best: AHT
Worst: TEN

I actually found EtD okay to play, even fun in some places hence the reason it's not the worst. TEN was repetitive and became boring very quickly, to the extent that I only played it to the end in order to see the whole story, which was actually quite a letdown itself. AHT was good because I liked it's quirky, lighthearted adventure and it introduced me to one of my favourite characters, Ember.

I have not officially (*cough*legally*cough*) played any of the handheld games but from what I can gather, SL would have taken the Best with the Crash/Spyro crossovers taking the Worst.
