ok, i started writing a new dragon story that has nothing to do with any of my previous dragons like Fireflight, Firefly, or Rouge. i just kind of wanted a fresh start, so i came up with this. i still have no clue what to name it, so i'm open to suggestions. anyway, here it is. i'll start off with the introduction.
Introduction:
My name is Sindri. I'm about forty years old, and I'm considered a junvenile, meaning that I am a teenager. How is that possible, you ask? Well, let's just say that when your kind can live for more than a thousand years, it takes a little longer to reach adulthood. Although I am still young, I have been living on my own for most of my life. My mother only took care of me from the time of my birth, up until I was five years old. I never knew my father. I was always told that he was too busy working to be around. That made me curious about his job. Anyway, once I turned six, I was left to fend for myself. Now, you may think that is far too young for anyone to be leaving the nest, but not for me or my kind. Within hours of my birth, I was strong enough to not only walk, but fly. Yes, I said fly. I did mention I wasn't human, yes? I didn't? Well, now you know. Anyway, as I was saying, for my kind, flying, hunting, reasoning - it is all instinctive and hereditary. From the time I was very small, I knew what I must do to survive. It was only natural, of course. My instincts told me what to do. I was no larger than a cat at the time, but I knew I needed to hunt for food and find a lair where I could live. I spent the next few years growing and learning, using whatever means nessecery to survive. I spend my days usually hunting, exploring, and just relaxing. There isn't a whole lot to do in the forrest where I live. Its pretty quiet and peaceful here. Plus, no one would dare disturb a dragon, unless they were incredibly brave or stupid. Yes, in case you haven't figured it out by now, I am indeed a dragon. Do you have a problem with that? I could easily turn you into a pile of ash, you know. Right. I didn't think you would complain about that. Now, on with the story. I do hope I am not boring you too much with my past. Although, I do doubt you will say anything negative about it. You arn't dumb enough to anger a dragon, are you? I didn't think you were. Now, make yourself comfortable. Yes, I mean sit down on that rock. Where else do you plan on sitting? I don't exactly have any furniture for you to sit on. Now, stop complaining about the lack of a sofa in my lair. Did you really expect me to have one? After all, I am far larger than a sofa. I wouldn't even fit in your house. So when you are ready to listen to my story, I will start. Are you settled in yet? Sitting comfortably, are you? Did you remember to get that, er, popcorn your kind loves to eat during entertainment so much? Alright, well, if you are finally ready to listen, I shall begin. Pay close attention now. I won't be repeating myself.

Good beginning! Title....hmm, probably something plot-related, but obscure enough to keep the readers guessing. I like how you type it as though the dragon is with the reader. Hahaha. Indeed.
Based on the calculated geniusness of my mindful....guessing. You should call it... The Rising Scarlet ...okay that was horrible. Just continue. It'd be better if I knew a bit more of the story.

thanks. i thought it might be more intresting to do the intro like that. i still have no clue on a name. maybe it'll be easier as i get further into it.
Chapter 1: A Close Call It was noon, and the sun shone brightly in the clear, blue sky. All the clouds were white and fluffly-looking, not a sign of rain at all. The forrest below was noisy and filled with animals, each one busy finding food at the moment. One in particular was scurrying around on the bottom floor of the forrest, crawling through blades of grass. "Ugh! I can't seem to find anything around here lately! There has to be something good to eat around here." a small male voice spoke. This small animal was a rat. He was black with dark eyes. His head and part of his neck were grey, along with his underbelly, and a few spots on his back. His four paws were each dark grey, with light grey socks. His tail was also dark grey with a light grey tip. He scurried through the grass, pausing slightly to sniff the air. When he looked up, he spotted a small, brown mouse. He then smiled, twitching his nose a bit. He stood on two legs, and calmly walked over to the mouse, head held high, a smirk on his face. As he neared her, he leaned on a nearby tree stump. "So, uh, what's a cute little mouse like you doing in this neck of the woods, huh?" he asked her. the little mouse glanced at him, but seemed to be looking past him, up towards the tree tops. then she quickly turned, and took off deep into the forrest. the rat looked confused, and scratched his head. "Was it something I said?" he muttered to himself. he then heard a screech behind him. he whirled around to see a hawk perched up high on a branch. his eyes nearly popped out of his head, and his jaw dropped. "I can deffinitely rule out something I said!" he said, teeth chattering. the hawk screeched again, and swooped down from the tree tops. "every rodent for himself!" the rat yelled fearfully as he turned tail and ran for his life. the little rat ran as fast as his legs would go, occasionally looking back to see the hawk right behind him. "come on legs, don't fail me now!" he yelled as he ran. he soon neared a forrest clearing, and rushed in that direction, not at all thinking that being in a wide open space might not be a good idea. he soon spotted a large figure resting in the field. he ran towards the figure, and soon hid behind its large build. the hawk screeched, heading straight towards them. the figure opened his eyes, and lifted his head. "alright, who's making all that noise?! i'm trying to sleep over here!" he growled in a teenaged voice. the figure was a dragon that was slightly larger than a monster truck. he was jet black with sapphire blue eyes. he had blue-grey spikes, almost like the plates of a stegasaurus, from the tip of his nose, down to his tail, and three small spikes under his bottom jaw. he had three blue-grey spikes on either side of his cheeks, right below his ears, which were medium blue on the inside and had light blue fluff. he had a long, smooth, medium blue horn on his forehead. he had blue-grey chest plates, and similiar plated scales on the front of each leg in the same color. his inside wings were medium blue, and he had three blue-grey claws on his wings. he had four blue-grey claws on each foot, and an extra claw on the side of his front feet, giving him the ability to grasp things. he had turqouise tiger stripes from the end of his nose, down to his feet, to the tip of his tail. his tail-end was medium blue, with a long, sharp blade on either side of his tail, pointing out in the direction of the tip, almost like a pitchfork. the hawk screeched once more, swooping down towards the dragon, determined to catch the rat hiding behind it. the dragon glanced up at the annoying, feathered creature that dared interrupt its nap. the dragon then took a deep breath, and breathed out a stream of scorching hot, blue flames. the bird was startled and fearful as it became engulfed in the inferno. then before it could do anything about it, it had been burned to a crisp, and plummeted to the ground. the dragon then huffed, and layed its head back down. "stupid bird." he muttered, before closing his eyes, and continuing to snooze.

Chapter 2: Friend or Nuisence? "Uh, excuse me! hello! anybody home in there!" the dragon heard a small voice, waking him up from his slumber. he opened his eyes slightly, yet saw no one. "oh, good, you're awake. hey, can i say something?" the voice asked. the dragon didn't give an answer. "good, 'cause i'm talking anyway. listen, that was really something you did back there. i mean, really. no one's ever scorched a hawk to save my neck. i really owe you one, buddy ol' pal." he said. the dragon looked around, but still saw no one. "hey, down here! i'm down here!" he called. the dragon looked down, still not seeing much of anything. "down a little lower! like all the way! ground level, dude, ground level!" he directed. soon the dragon's gaze was on the little rat he unknowingly had saved. "yeah, there ya go! perfect! now, you can see me! see, my friend, i am the grateful rodent you just saved from that nasty bird. i can't thank you enough. my name's Vito, by the way. Vito the rat." he grinned, twitching his nose slightly. the dragon then picked him up by the tail, holding him at eye level, upside down. "hey! yo! what are you doing, man?! put me down! i say, put me down! i may be small, but you should respect my authority! i can bite, ya know! so if ya know what's good for ya, you'll let me go!" he sneered. the dragon narrowed his eyes and snarled at the rodent. "listen, you little pest, nothing you could do would harm me. all i want is to rest in peace. now if you refuse to leave me alone, then i'll turn you into an appitizer. you understand, small fry? either shut up, or become a bite-sized snack. your choice." "oh, please! i beg for mercy, Mister Dragon! i didn't mean to disturb you! honest! it won't ever happen again! i promise! just please let me go! i got a wife and twelve kids to feed! they may starve without me! please, Mister Dragon, have mercy on me! i am a meer rodent! i mean no harm! i cause no trouble! really! just let me go and you'll never hear from me again!" Vito begged like a spineless coward, tears in his eyes, and paws held together. "call me Sindri. none of this 'mister dragon' nonesense, understand? and stop your blabbering. you'll give me a headache with all your annoying jabbering." he sighed. then the dragon dropped him on the ground. Vito quickly jumped up and began kissing the dragon's paw, like he was in the presence of royalty or something. "oh, thank you! thank you, Mister Dragon--er, i mean, Sindri! you are most kind! most generous! i am eternally grateful! i will forever be indebted to you! simply call if you are in need of anything, and i will help in any way possible! you have my word! i would dedicate my life for you, sir!" he said, graciously. Sindri sighed and pulled his paw away from the rat. "don't you have a family to take care of?" he asked as he got up. then he turned around, and started to walk away. Vito ran after him. he soon crawled up onto his tail, climbing all the way up to the dragon's head, now sitting on top, holding onto his ear. "well, truth be told, Mister Dragon--uh, Sindri--my family doesn't really need me at the moment..." the rat said, trailing off. "you don't have a family, do you? and why are you on my head? does this look like a petting zoo or something to you?" Sindri snarled. "actually, my scaly friend, i figured since we are both single, we could stick together. you know, just a couple of bachelors roaming about together. doesn't that sound great?" "right. or you just want a body gaurd in case something else tries to get you." "no! that's not it at all! i can't believe you would say that!" Vito gasped. Sindri just sighed and rolled his eyes. "listen, i actually had an idea of what we could do." he grinned. "really? and what was this brillant plan of yours?" Sindri asked, sarcastically. "well, when you put it that way...." Vito snickered. Sindri just rolled his eyes. "now, listen closely, my friend. you will simply die when you hear about my plan." he chuckled.

the wife and 12 kids was a lie. the thing you have to remember about Vito is that he'll say or do anything to get what he wants, and he won't take no for an answer. X3
Chapter 3: Getting A Life "no." Sindri said with a sigh. he was casually wandering off towards his cave. Vito was sitting on his head, holding onto his horn. "oh, come on, buddy! its a great plan!" his rat friend insisted. "hm, let me think about it. no." he said, frustrated. "and get off of my head. i use my horn to fight, not as a handle or whatever for passengers." he grumbled. Vito then lay back on his head, stretching out, and wrapping his tail around Sindri's horn. "how about this, i'll get off, if you agree to the plan." Vito said with a smug grin. "oh, well, in that case......" Sindri trailed off. then he shook his head violently, causing Vito to scream as he fell off and landed in the dirt. "if you're smart, you'll stay there." he muttered as he continued walking. Vito got up and dusted himself off as he quickly followed. "you know what, Sindri, you're a funny dragon. i like that. everyone needs a sense of humor. tell you what, you'll die when you hear this." "Vito, if its anything like your last plan, i'll sooner die of annoyance." "no, no, no. nothing like that, buddy. picture this, you, me, and the great outdoors." "i don't have to picture that, Vito, i can see it. that's the problem." Sindri remarked in an annoyed tone. the rat snickered as he followed. "hehe, good one. but you missed the point." "i'm afraid to ask." he said in a dry tone. "i was thinking of an adventure. i mean, come on, think about it. two good friends exploring this big ol' world. sounds great, right? i mean, it don't get any better than that." "sure it does. i could be relaxing in my cave, nothing but peace and quiet. and expecially no annoying rodents." "well, if you wanna miss out on all the fun, then fine. be bored for all i care. die alone in that old cave. be a miserable stick in the mud. me, i'm still young. i got dreams, pal. i wanna see the world before i'm old and grey. well, at least old. i'm already grey." he chuckled. "anyway, my point is, you should get out and see the world while you still can. so, what do you say? you still wanna sit around and do nothing?" "no, i had much rather have you as an appitizer. than maybe, just maybe, you would shut up." "only if you would consider my plan." "so, i have to ask, did you do anything in particular to anger that hawk, or did he also find you painfully annoying?" "hey, the only thing that hawk was thinking was 'hello, dinner!' but seriously, you never once considered getting a life?" "well, considering the fact i'm already alive, i found it unnessecery to get another life." "no, i meant a life actually worth living. i mean, do you even do anything besides eat and sleep? i mean, come on! that's what babies do! you're too old now to be doing nothing! you need to add some fun to your life!" "what i need to do is subtract a rat from my life." "hey, you get rid of me, and you'll be killing any hope of fun you have." "but i will also be reviving my peace and quiet." "you know what, maybe i was wrong." "finally!" he sighed with relief. "maybe you're just way too old to know what fun is." Vito said. then he started to walk away. Sindri then suddenly blocked his path with his tail. "hold it!" he snapped. "you did not just call me old!" he snarled. Vito turned back with smirk. "oh, i offended you, did i? i'm so sorry. i didn't mean to anger an old fart like you. i just thought you lost the deffinition of fun. no need to get so worked up over something like that. its normal for a senile dragon like you." he said. Sindri growled, and lowered himself down to the rat's level. "take. that. back." he said slowly, his voice threatening. his jaws were inches from the little rodent, his hot breath on his fur. Vito looked back with a confidant smirk. "what'cha gonna do about it, big guy? how you gonna make me take it back?" he replied. there was a moment of silence as Sindri thought. "like this." he said, calmly. then he stood up straight, looking down at the little rat. Vito watched him carefully. then Sindri picked him up by the tail, and tossed him up the air. he lowered his head slightly, allowing Vito to fall on top of his head. then he spread his wings wide. "hold on tight, small fry. we're going for a ride." he said with a grin and a gleam in his eye. Vito gulped and held onto his horn. then Sindri took off into the sky. Vito screamed, holding on for dear life.

thanks. i like Vito. he doesn't seem at all useful, but he is good for comic relief. but he does have a purpose, besides humor. but that will come later.
Chapter 4: Birds of Prey Sindri flew about quickly, darting in all directions. he did zig-zags, loop-de-loops, and spins. Vito held onto his horn for dear life, his eyes closed, screaming his little head off. Sindri smirked, and finally stopped, now flying calmly. "you can stop screaming now." he told his rodent friend. Vito stopped and cleared his throat. "oh. um, i, uh, i wasn't scared." he muttered. "right." he said, sarcastically. "so, are you going to behave now?" "i will never mess with you again, rat's honor." he said, holding his right paw up. "i'll hold you to that, Vito." he grinned. then suddenly, some kind of black bird sped past them, with a flock of falcons on its tail. "well, this looks exciting." he remarked, watching the birds fly about, the black one trying to avoid the others. "wonder what's going on..." Vito muttered. Sindri shrugged. "eh, not my problem." he said, and he turned away from the scene. "not your problem?! you could help the bird!" "i could, but why would i? it doesn't concern me. besides, they could be racing for all we know." he stated. Vito looked back, seeing the falcons attack the black bird. "they deffinitely arn't racing. Sindri, you gotta do something!" he insisted. the dragon looked back at the scene. "circle of life. things happen. get used to it." he shrugged. "but you helped me!" "i was shutting up a hawk. he disturbed my nap." "so?! shut them up! they're screeching and attacking that bird!" "hey, since when does a rat care about birds?" he questioned. "do we really have time to discuss this?! just do something!" Vito insisted. Sindri sighed. "fine. you want me to help? then i'll do something." he muttered. then Sindri took a deep breath, and breathed out a yellow mist onto the birds. they breathed it in, and each one suddenly froze in mid-air. then they began to plummet to the ground. Sindri dove down, flipped upside down, and caught the black bird in his claws. then he flipped again, and flew down to the ground. he dropped the bird onto the grass, and then landed on the ground. Vito jumped down, and cautiously approached the paralyzed bird. Sindri turned to see the shocked and confused look on his rodent friend's face. "how.....?" Vito muttered, waving a paw in front of the bird's face. "Paralyzing Gas." Sindri answered. "they won't be able to move for a little while." he stated. Vito stared at the bird that sat in front of him. the bird was a black owl with the tips of its feathers colored a dark grey. it had dark grey stripes on its wings, and a dark grey mask over its eyes. "i thank you for helping me." the owl spoke in a female voice. "WAH!" Vito screamed, startled. he then jumped up, and darted behind Sindri. "i thought you said it was paralyzed!" he said to his friend. "the gas doesn't work on vocal communication." Sindri stated. "pardon me, gentlemen, but i am a she, not an it." she corrected them. "allow me to introduce myself. i am Luna." "yeah, an owl, one that's out during the DAY!" Vito yelled, surprised to see an owl awake at this time. "indeed i am nocturnal. i was sleeping when the falcons attacked me. i flew away to avoid them. however, it can be difficult to navigate and fly when you are so used to a darker setting. i believe that is when the two of you came along. again, i thank you for the assitance. i am incredibly grateful. i am indebted to you now, Mister Dragon." she said. "call me Sindri." he told her. "and you don't owe me anything. you're just lucky i came along when i did. listen, the Paralyzing Gas should wear off soon. then you're free to go." he said. then he turned to leave. "wait!" Luna cried out. Sindri sighed and stopped. "perhaps i could journey with you?" he asked. he glanced back at her. "i rather you didn't. i'm still trying to get rid of the last thing i saved." he stated. Vito gave him a look, like a scowl. "and what's that supposed to mean?" he grumbled. "i understand that you wish to have your privacy, but my offer still stands. i want to travel with you. i can be very beneficial to have around. please, say yes. you won't be sorry, i promise you." she said. Sindri sighed. "fine. you'll probally just follow me anyway." he muttered.

Chapter 5: Passing The Time
Sindri walked through the forrest, with Vito riding on his head, and Luna flying along beside them. "so, where does this path lead again?" Sindri asked his feathered guide. "it leads far deeper into the forrest, to the very center. at the heart is a large, beautiful lake with clear, sapphire waters. there is a hidden cave behind a waterfall, and even an underwater tunnel. it s a beautiful sight." Luna said with a smile. "i see. well, it does sound nice. are we close to getting there?" he asked her. "not quite. it could be for a few more miles." "miles?" he grumbled. "hey, i have an idea!" Vito piped up with a grin. "super." Sindri muttered sarcastically. "lets sing a song to pass the time!" he said. Sindri rolled his eyes. Vito then cleared his throat. "me--me--me--me--me!" he warmed up his voice. "oh, i've been riding on a dragon all the live-long day. we've been wandering through a forrest, following some little black owl." he sang. then the tune suddenly changed rhytum. "we're trying to find the lake in the middle of the forrest, where the water is sapphire, and there is even a waterfall." he sang to no tune reconizable. then the tune changed again. "and we just keep walking, just keep walking. just keep walking, walking, walking. what do we do? we walk, walk, walk. ba da da da da, oh i love to ride on this dragon as he walks through the forrest. come on, everybody! you know the words!" he cheered, wanting them to sing along to the made-up song. "no, Vito, i don't think anyone those the words to that so-called song." Sindri groaned. then to his displeasure, Vito began singing the song again. he then looked at the owl. "Luna, do you eat mice?" he asked her. "a mouse is indeed part of an owl's diet. why?" she replied. "feeling hungry?" he asked. "not particularly." "you sure? 'cause you can eat Vito, if you want. i give you permission to eat him." he told her. Vito had apparently heard that, because he stopped singing. "hey!" he blurted out. "hey yourself. you suck at singing. that's not even a real song." Sindri said. "i happen to have a great voice, and that was so a song! you're just jealous that you can't write songs like i can!" "i'm sure i could write a song that actually made SENSE! you just threw words together and sang to no tune in particular!" Sindri snapped. "shh!" came Luna's voice. they looked at her. "listen." she told them. then they heard a faint roar in the distance. "what was that?!" Vito gulped. "i believe it was a feline roar. big cats have been known to hunt in these parts." Luna answered. "CATS?!" Vito yelped, his voice squeakier than usual. he held onto Sindri's horn for dear life, his teeth chattering like crazy. "relax, Vito, i'm sure its nothing to worry about." Sindri told him. "that's easy for you to say! cats don't eat dragons!" he replied. "would you calm down? i'm scarier than anything we're going to see in this forrest." "although i believe that to be true, i must agree with Vito. it is best to avoid the big cats." Luna said. "you're scared too, huh?" Vito asked her. "felines have been known to eat birds, so yes." she answered. "relax. you guys got me as a bodygaurd. a cat would be stupid to mess with me." Sindri said. then he kept walking. Vito held on, hiding behind his horn slightly. Luna now perched on the back of his neck, peeking around him to look ahead.

thanks. that name sounds cool, but i'm not sure if it would entirely fit would where the story goes.
Chapter 6: Cat Got Your Tounge? Sindri continued walking through the forrest, both of his companions riding on him, afraid of the big cats. the roar steadily got louder as he continued walking. his friends steadily got more afraid. Sindri wasn't worried, though. he was sure that no meer animal would be a challenge for him. he secretly hoped to run into a big cat, so that he would finally be rid of the small animals riding on his back. the only good thing now was that they were finally quiet, minus the teeth chattering and ruffling of feathers. then just when he was about to reassure them that they would be fine, a small, white blurr rushed past them. before they could question what it was, the roar sounded like it was right near them, which made sense when they looked to see a tiger rush towards them. the tiger soon came to a stop in front of them, and roared at them. Sindri glared at the tiger and roared back at it. the tiger paused a moment, startled by being roared at apparently. however, it soon regained its composure and roared back at Sindri. Sindri growled in frustration, not getting the result he wanted. "cover your ears." he told his friends. Vito and Luna covered thier ears as best they could. then Sindri took a deep breath and let out a deafening, eerie, high-pitched screech. the tiger heard this and the effects of this ability were unavoidable once heard. the effect turns your muscles to ice, sends your heart racing, and makes your stomach feel as if its clutched by a vice. the tiger looked truly terrified to hear this simple sound. once Sindri stopped and the effects wore off, the tiger took off into the forrest like it had seen a ghost. Vito and Luna gave him a puzzled look. "what the heck was that?!" the rodent asked. Sindri glanced at them. "its called Terror Screech. muscles turn to ice, the heart races, and stomachs feel like they're being clutched by a vice. basically, it terrifies the listener. once it wears off, they run in fear. its very effective." he explained. "i'll say!" Vito said. "but what was that thing that passed us earlier?" Luna asked. "don't know, don't care." Sindri replied. "we should at least go look." Vito suggested. "it could be a cat." "on second thought, visiting the lake sounds lovely right now!" the rat chuckled nervously. "but why would a tiger chase a cat?" the owl asked. "beats me." Sindri said. "well, there is only one way to find out." Luna stated. "ask about it at the watering hole?" Vito guessed. Sindri shrugged. "lets go check it out then." he said. then he started walking in the direction of the streak. Luna was now flying beside him. "i was afraid you'd say that...." Vito gulped, shrinking down behind his horn. they then traveled a few feet, when Luna cried out. "look! up there in that tree!" the owl said. the others looked up, and sure enough, there was a small animal sitting on a high branch. "its a cat!" Vito yelped, now hiding on the back of Sindri's neck. "hold it. its just a small one." Sindri pointed out. the feline appeared to be an average domesticated cat. it appeared to be mostly white. it had a black mask over its eyes and nose, along with a black spot on its chin. its ears were also black. it had dark grey mittens and black toes. the back of its neck was dark grey. its back was black with white blotches. there was a single dark grey stripe from the back of the neck to the base of the tail. the tail was black with a dark grey tip, and a dark grey band around the base that was connected to another band around the middle of the tail. the cat looked down at them with ligh blue eyes. Vito peeked at it from behind Sindri's neck, and Luna perched on Sindri's head. the cat then climbed down from the tree, and cautiously walked towards them. "you got rid of that tiger, didn't you?" the cat asked in a female voice. "yes, he did." Luna answered. "you're welcome." Sindri said. the cat gave an amused smirk. "i did not need your help. i am quite capable of looking after myself." "right. whatever you say, pussycat." he muttered. at that, her tail twitched. "i am called Catriona, dear." she said with an air of arrogance. "remember it, darling, i will not be repeating it. now, you seem to be utterly lost in this forrest. so, i'll tell you what i am going to do. i will aid you in guiding you through this forrest. surely i could help you find your way." "what? uh, no. that's fine, really. we don't need help." Sindri said. "oh, but you do, dear. you don't expect an owl and a rat to help you find your way, do you? no, of course not. they are meerly snacks, not guides. now, come along, dear. i will show you the way." Catriona said as she padded past them. she left no room for debate, not even waiting for a response of any kind. "did she just invite herself?" Luna muttered. "who made her queen of the forrest?" Vito grumbled. Sindri just hung his head and sighed.

thanks. next chapter coming up.
Chapter 7: Lost? Sindri continued to walk through the forrest, now heading in a diffrent diection from before, and following a cat. Vito sat on his back, hiding behind his neck, away from Catriona's view. Luna sat perched on Sindri's head, looking around in all directions. Sindri sighed as he walked, wondering just how he got mixed up in all this. surely it can't be that hard to get rid of a couple of animals, right? "Catriona, do you even know where you're going?" he grumbled. she glanced back at him. "of course i do, darling. now why would you ever doubt me? cats are quite clever, you know." "not when they lead you around in circles." "impossible! i know where i am going. besides, even if that were ture, how would you possibly be able to tell if we were going in circles?" she challenged. "Luna?" he addressed the lookout. the owl's head rotated around completely one time. "i have spotted the same landmarks over and over for quite some time." she hooted. "how could you possibly tell one tree from another?" Catriona mewed. Luna's head rotated to face a rather large tree with a hole in it. she hooted once, and then a robin poked its head out, responding with a chirp. "that's how." Luna replied. "Rae the robin lives there, and we have passed her home quite a few times by now." "how do you know it is the same robin?" the feline questioned. "because most of the robins live further north of here, where the trees are the tallest in the forrest. however, Rae lives right over there, a little closer to my home." the owl answered. "why does it even matter?" Vito complained. "because i am trying to prove that it is impossible that we have been going in circles." Catriona said. "actually, it is quite possible. i have surveyed the area many times, and not once have we strayed from this general area. so, you see, we are indeed going in circles. in which case, it is the fault of the guide, miss Catriona." Luna stated, matter-of-factly. "now see here!" Catriona spat, now glaring at the owl. "we are not going in circles! another word out of you, and i'll have you for dinner! understand?!" "oh, enough already!" Vito complained. "that goes for you, too!" she hissed. "that's quite enough!" Sindri growled. however, the fighting didn't stop. irritated, Sindri then took a deep breath, and let out a yellow mist. the others breathed it in, now paralyzed. Sindri then picked up Catriona, and threw her onto his back. then he continued walking, happy at the sudden silence. "another outburst like that, and i'll do more than paralyze you. now, we will continue going in peace. i don't want to hear another sound out of any of you." he said, sternly. then suddenly, there was a long howl. "i said, quiet!" Sindri snapped. "that wasn't us!" Catriona insisted. "none of us posses the ability to howl." Luna stated. "something else did that...." Vito chuckled nervously.

yes, there is a wolf. X3
Chapter 8: The New Pack Member Sindri continued to walk, now with all the animals riding on his back. Catriona was laying on his back, Vito was now down at his tail, and Luna was perched on his head. as he walked, the howling got louder. "must we walk in the direction of the howling menace?" Catriona asked. "yeah, it could try to eat me!" Vito gulped. "i suspect it to be a wolf, by the sound of the howl. wolves typically travel in packs. we could be walking right into a trap." Luna stated. "no trap designed by an animal would be good enough agaisnt me. now, be quiet. we mine as well see what it is, and what it wants. i could at least try to shut it up." he told them. before long, they reached the base of a huge tree in a clearing, that was at least twice the size of the normal trees. next to the tree was a large boulder, with a canine chained to it. the canine was a black wolf with dark blue eyes. it had a white muzzle, white belly, and white underneath his tail. the tips of its ears were white, as well as its front paws. its back paws had white mittens up to its knees. it had white spots on its back, and it had a white mane. it also wore a black, spiked collar. as soon as he saw Sindri and the others, he growled. then he tried to attack them, but the chain held him back. he barked angerly, pulling on the chain. "ugh! what a brute!" Catriona huffed. Luna blinked. "actually, that would be his name." she stated. "huh?" Vito scratched his head. "the collar the wolf is wearing, it has a silver tag that says 'Brute.' thus, it is his name." the owl explained. "well, it certainly suits the beast." the cat mewed. "i don't think he wants to be here, though. look at that chain." Sindri pointed out. "i don't think he wants US here! just look at him go!" Vito pointed out at the wolf's relentless struggle to attack them. "alright, i've seen enough." Sindri said. then he breathed out his Paralyzing Gas. the wolf breathed it in, and stopped, yet remained barking. then Sindri roared at him, causing the wolf to whimper instead. "Luna, keep a lookout for the one behind this." "will do, sir." she hooted. then she flew off to a high branch. "Vito, check out the chain, and see if there are any weak points." "aye-aye, captain!" the rat saluted before scurrying off to the chain wrapped around the boulder. "Catriona--" "i will not be helping to free this beast." "just check the tree for any trace of who or what did this." "fine." she said. then she started to climb the big tree. "hey, Sindri! i think i found a weak point!" Vito called. the dragon walked over to the boulder, looking behind it. "show me." "right there. its cracked there." he pointed. "alright." he said. "stand back." he added. then Vito took cover. then Sindri whirled around, hitting the chain as hard as he could with his tail. the chain broke, freeing the wolf. then suddenly, Luna began hooting in a panicked manner. Sindri's eyes darted around, seeing a baboon with a stick rush towards them. "what are you doing with my gaurd dog?!" he yelled. then before anyone could answer, he leaped up into the air, aiming his stick at Sindri. the dragon simply raised his claw, grabbing the stick, and snapping it in two. then he threw the baboon to the ground, and pinned him there. "first of all, its a wolf, not a dog. second, he's not yours. and third, you just made the mistake of messing with a dragon." Sindri snarled. then he took a deep breath, and scorched the baboon with his blue fire breath. the others just watched as the ape was barbecued. then the wolf could move again, and he turned to face the dragon, tail wagging. "hey, thanks!" he barked, happily. "i didn't think i'd ever be free. i'm Brute, by the way." "don't mention it." "you know, you guys look like a really wierd pack." "tell me about it." Sindri muttered. "shouldn't you be going back to the mountains or something?" Catriona asked. "well, no. i don't really have a home." he said. Sindri sighed. "well, join the club, we've got jackets." he muttered, sarcastically. "really?!" Vito beamed. "no." "you could still join us, though." Luna offered. "really?! i could travel with you guys?!" Brute barked, wagging his tail. "why not? everyone else in the forrest is." Sindri sighed.

yeah, and he's not really trilled about it either. hmm that name may work. i'll keep it in mind.
Chapter 9: Choose A Side Sindri sighed as he walked through the forrest, now following a wolf as he sniffed for a trail. Luna was perched on his head, looking around in all directions. Vito was holding onto his horn, humming a tune as he relxed. Catriona was trailing behind the large dragon, trying to avoid Brute. then they stepped into a wide open clearing. the clearing looked like a vast grassland area. they quietly marveled at the sight, until a huge dark figure plummeted from the sky and crash landed in the field in front of them. the figure was a large black dragon. he was solid black with two obsidian horns, spikes from head to tail, and black claws. his tail-end was shaped like a spade and also black. even his eyes were dark. before any of them could say or do anything, another figure shot down out of the sky, pinning the black dragon to the ground. the other figure was also a black dragon, but this one was diffrent. it had neon blue markings. it had a streak over her indigo blue eyes, and its bottom jaw was blue. it had four dots on either side of its neck, and three stripes on its front paws. its wings had blue stripes, and its tail had a single blue line going all the way down to the tip that started at its hind legs. it had a single blue spot on each shoulder, and another on its hind legs, with blue plates on the front of its back paws. it had black, sharp, needle-like spikes from head to tail. its belly had silver armor plates with spikes. it had four obsidian horns, two of which pointed back, while the bottom two curved forwards beside its jaw. it had four black claws on each foot that were long like needles. it had four black spikes all around the tip of its tail, pointing out towards the tip, like Sindri's, but with four spikes instead of two. the new dragon pinned the black one, holding him down with relative ease. it then opened its jaws, venom dripping from its fangs as it prepared an attack. Sindri growled, and then breathed out his Paralyzing Gas. the two strange dragons breathed it in and then froze. Sindri then looked at his friends. "wait here. don't help. run if you have to." he told them. Luna flew off, now perching in a tree. Brute sat below the tree. Catriona climbed up onto a diffrent branch, and Vito sat on Brute's head. Sindri growled, turning to face the dragons. he then tackled the odd black dragon, pinning it to the ground. before long, the gas wore off. he looked to the jet black dragon. "go! get out of here! you're free!" he told him. the dragon nodded his thanks, and then flew off in a hurry. although the other dragon was slightly smaller than Sindri, it was able to easily flip him over and pin him to the ground. "what do you think you're doing?!" the dragon growled in a teenaged female voice. "you let him get away!" she continued. her blue eyes and her markings glowed brightly. she held a claw to his throat. "tell me who you're working for!" she demanded. the animals saw thier friend in trouble, and started to rush over to them. the female turned sharply, breathing out a blue mist. each of the animals breathed it in, yawned, and then collapsed. "what did you do to them?!" Sindri growled. "Sleep Gas. they'll be out for a little while." she answered. "now who do you work for?" she snarled. "what are you talking about? i don't work for anyone." "then why did you help that dragon?" "because he was under attack. i thought he needed help." "well, you just helped a dark dragon to escape!" she hissed.

http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/2493/16913424.png Chapter 10: A Working Dragon "what?!" Sindri gasped. he had no idea that the dragon he helped was the evil one. "that's right. you helped the wrong dragon. nice going, hot shot. now i have to go back to work. try to stay out of my way." the dragon snarled. then she let him up, and turned away from him. she spread her wings, about to fly away, when Sindri jumped in front of her. she folded her wings with a scowl. "now what do you want, a medal?" she spat. "well, i want to know who you are, and what did you mean by work?" he asked, curiously. she sighed. "alright, fine. my name is Nearra." she said, now sounding calm and a little nicer. then her long claws retracted, like a cat's would. the spikes on her back each folded down one by one in a single line, layering on top of each other like plates, the same with the spikes on her belly. Sindri blinked. he had never seen a dragon do that before. actually, he hadn't really met another dragon at all. her neon markings had stopped glowing and faded to a deep blue. "uh, i'm Sindri. how did you--?" "retract my claws and spikes?" she asked. he nodded. "Poison Points." she added simply. "all my claws, spikes, horns, even my tail, have venom in them. anyone who is pricked by one of my sharp points will have poison injected into thier bloodstream. that's why i can retract my claws and spikes, so i don't accidently inject poison in someone. i got that from my dad." she explained. he blinked again. "uh huh. well, uh, neat." he muttered. "um, now, about that work you mentioned..." "have you ever been to Kendermore?" she asked. his eyes widened. "the dragon city?" he gasped. he had heard tell from his mother about the magnificent dragon city, but he had never seen it himself. it was supposed to be the biggest and nicest of dragon cities. "the one and only." Nearra smiled. he shoke his head slowly. "no, i've never been there. i've always wanted to see it, though." "well, then i'm going to make your wish come true. pack your things, Sindri, i'm taking you to the dragon city." she grinned. "i could go right now, but what about them?" he asked, gestering to the animals. she glanced at them. "what about them? they're not dragons." "but they are my friends. i can't just leave them here." "well, unless you want to carry them, they'll have to stay here. for one thing, they're alseep, and another, only a dragon can get to Kendermore." "so, i've heard. i'll just have to carry them then." "fine. just don't expect me to be a taxi for anyone. besides, i have a job to do. i have to report back to the elder and tell him i lost the lead on account of a strange dragon." she said. "gee, thanks." he muttered, sarcastically. "your welcome." she smirked. "so what exactly is your job?" he asked. "come to the city to find out." she replied with a smile.

Chapter 11: Kendermore
Sindri carried all his friends on his back, and followed behind Nearra. his animal friends have woke up by now, and all but Luna were holding on for dear life, mainly because Luna was the only one flying beside him. they flew high above the forrest, heading north. there was a long range of mountains in the distance. "see that?" Nearra asked, pointing. "the Cairngora Mountain Range. that's where we're headed." she said. "i thought we were going to Kendermore." Sindri said, a little confused. she chuckled lightly. "we are. the dragon city is beyond the mountain range. we have to pass over them to get there. the Caringora Mountains are the tallest around, not to mention the steepest. plus, there are many sharp, jagged rocks at the base of the mountains. the only way over them is to fly, and with the high altitudes, not even a bird would make it all the way in one trip, and there's no good place to rest on these mountains." she explained. "i see. so that's why its so hard to get to Kendermore." "exactly." Nearra smiled. "only a dragon can make the trip. now, come on. its pretty far, so it'll take us a little while to get there." she said. they flew for a few hours, and were almost there. another hour at least, and they were now at the top of the mountain range. they paused for a moment, taking in the sight. Nearra smile at his expression. Sindri's eyes nearly popped out of his head and his jaw dropped. the Cairngora Mountain Range curved around in a large oval shape, closing off the entire city, and protecting it from all sides. within the mountain range was a vast valley that was hunderds of miles in diameter. all throughout the valley was the dragon city. the city itself was made of stone. it appeared to have been very old, and very stable. all along the edge of the city, near the mountains, were gaurd towers and large stone platforms. there are at least two dragons per tower and platform, each one of a diffrent color. close to the towers were large buildings. these buildings were large enough to hold at least thirty large dragons. they served as the barracks for warriors and gaurds that worked full time. past the barracks were the outer limits of the city, which mainly consisted of shops, libraries, gyms, museums, and many other public buildings. past them were the homes of many of the city's inhabitants. then in the center, in the very heart of the city, was a very large building that was only beaten in size by the barracks. the building was mostly squared off, with a rather large glass dome in the center for observation. it seemed to be awfully important, and one would assume that the elder lived there. "welcome to Kendermore." Nearra said with a smile. Sindri and the others stared in wonder at the sight. "well, its all down hill from here. come on, Sindri, race you to the city." she grinned. then before he could respond, she was off. Sindri was too stunned to move. "hey! hello! anybody home?!" Vito hollered in his ear. he then got in front of his eyes, and waved a paw in front of him. "come on, you big lizard! get moving! flap those wings!" he insisted. Sindir snapped back to reality. "oh, uh, right!" he said. then his friends held on tight as he bolted after Nearra. she glanced back a moment, seeing him catch up. she smirked and sped up, double time, easily leaving him in the dust. he growled in frustration and raced after her. within moments, he was on her tail. Sindri propelled himself forward, coming along beside her. then just when he thought he would pass her, Nearra gained speed, taking the lead. he struggled to catch up. then just as he was back on her tail, they came to the base of the mountain, and landed in the valley. "looks like i win." Nearra grinned, holding her head high. Brute and Catriona hopped off of Sindri, and started to look around the city. Luna took flight, scouting around a little. Vito sat on top of Sindri's head, while his reptilian friend scoffed at Nearra. "you only won because you got a head start." he grumbled. "oh, don't be such a sore loser, Sindri. you couldn't beat me if you tried." she shot back with a smirk.

Chapter 12: The Elder
Sindri followed Nearra through the dragon city, looking around at everything in awe. his friends were doing the same. Catriona followed along, curiously looking at everything. Brute trailed behind a bit, taking the time to smell everything. Luna got a bird's eye view from up high as she flew along. Vito got a good view as well, holding onto Sindri's horn as he looked around. Nearra was leading them to the center of the city, towards the building with the glass dome. "come on, Sindri, hurry up! quit the sightseeing! i want you to meet someone!" she called to him, quickening her pace. Sindri stopped looking around and quickly followed after Nearra. his friends noticed him speed up and they followed after him. a few minutes later, they arrived outside the building with the glass dome. Sindri and his friends marveled at the sight. "what is this place?" he asked in awe. "the elder's home. i hope he's inside." she replied. then she walked up to the large double doors. she raised a claw for one of the big knockers, and knocked loudly. a few minutes later, the door opened wide. on the other side of the door was a large dragon. he was about twice the size of a normal house, which helped explain why his home was huge. when Nearra said he was an elder, she obviously wasn't kidding. this dragon looked old, if not ancient. he had two long, white whiskers, almost like a mustache. he also had a white beard under his chin. he also had some white hair at his cheeks, a little longer than his beard. he had a white mane from the back of his neck, down his spine, and almost down to the tip of his tail. he had a white antenae above each eye, which was almost like a tentacle. his scales were a deep bronze, a faded, dull color. his ears were also bronze, with white hair on the inside. his belly and the tips of his claws were a dull, rustic brown. the edges of the rustic brown coloring was dotted, little spots on his bronze scales. it almost appeared as if the color was spreading, like he really was rusting. he had a short, rustic brown horn on his forehead, which appeared to have broken off at one point. the tip of his tail was shaped like a spade, and was also rustic brown. the inside of his wings were a faded yellow. his old, tired eyes were copper. the dragon yawned, showing off his yellow fangs, some dull or even chipped. once his weary eyes came into focus, his gaze rested on Nearra. "ah, Nearra, how good of you to come." he spoke in an elderly voice, but seemed far from being weak or losing his mind. then he noticed Sindri and the animals. "who are your friends?" he asked. "sir, i want you to meet Sindri. this is Vito, Luna, Catriona, and Brute. guys, meet Maddoc, the dragon elder." she introduced them. "its an honor, sir." Sindri said, giving a slight bow. the animals did the same. Maddoc gave a slight chuckle. "enough with that nonsense. just call me Maddoc. after all, i'm not that old." he said, warmly. "how old are you?" he dared to ask. "oh, er, about 1,500 years old, give or take a decade." he gave a hearty laugh. Sindri's eyes bulged, nearly popping out of his head. forget old, Maddoc was beyond ancient. he was a Great Wyrm. that's the oldest stage of a dragon's life. "not old?" Sindri muttered. "dude, you're, like, ancient!" Vito blurted out. "technically speaking, he is truly beyond that stage of his life." Luna stated. "wow! you've lived a long time!" Brute barked. Catriona sighed. "shush! you're all being quite rude!" she hissed. Maddoc chuckled. "nonsense! i don't mind it at all!" he said with a big grin. "besides, you're only as old as you feel, and i certainly don't feel like i'm an ancient dragon." he said. he then looked at Nearra. "so, my dear, what brings you to my home?" "well, sir--um, Maddoc. uh, i came to speak to you about that dragon you sent me after. you know, the dark dragon." "oh, yes!" he gasped in relization. "yes, i remember now. must have slipped my mind for a moment. how did that go?" "the lead was a dead end, sir--uh, i mean, Maddoc. the dark dragon got away on account of a strange dragon." "what strange dragon, Nearra?" he asked, curiously. "um, hi." Sindri spoke up, waving a paw.

thanks. oh, and here's a picture of Maddoc.
http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/88/87711742.png Chapter 13: Guests In His Home Maddoc blinked, glancing back and forth between Nearra and Sindri. "let me get tis straight. you're saying you met your friend here while you were after the dark dragon?" the elder asked. "correct." she nodded. "then how exactly did he escape the both of you?" "ask him." Nearra huffed, nodding in Sindri's direction. the old dragon looked at him. "well?" he asked. "you see, here's the thing, sir. i was just walking through the forrest when i saw them fighting. the dark dragon appeared to be in trouble. i didn't know he was evil, so i helped him escape. i didn't find out the truth until he was gone. i'm sorry. its my fault. i shouldn't have interferred." he said. "no harm done." Maddoc said. "you didn't know he was a dark dragon. you can't blame yourself for not knowing everything. i'm sure anyone could make the mistake of attacking the wrong black dragon. i realize they don't look the same, but the lack of knowledge and the obvious trouble he was in caused you to choose the wrong side. its quite alright. though, i must say, i am quite curious to learn more about you. perhaps you would join me for dinner inside?" "uh, yeah, sure. that sounds great, sir." Sindri said. "wonderful. now, enough with calling me sir. oh, and, Nearra, why don't you give his little friends a tour. i had rather talk to him alone, if you don't mind." "of course." Nearra gave a slight nod. "come on, guys." she said to the animals. then she turned to leave. Brute and Catriona quickly followed. Luna perched on her head. Vito hesistated to follow. then just as he appeared to go after them, he grabbed onto Sindri's tail, and went inside the elder's home with him. "follow me now, Sindri. right this way." Maddoc called. Sindri followed along right behind him. the two dragons walked down a long hallway. it was lite up by candels, and the walls were decorated with various pictures of dragons. each dragon was diffrent, and was in a diffrent location, depending on the type of dragon. the only thing they had in common was that each one appeared to stand in a heroic pose. there was an exotic crimson rug beneath thier feet. they soon reached a dead end in the hallway, with a path that led to the right. then Maddoc raised his paw and placed on a part of the wall, pushing a panal. then a hidden door slid open to thier left. "this way." he said as he went left. Sindri followed, with Vito now scurrying up to the back of his neck. they walked down a short hallway that led into a large room. the large room broke off into diffrent chambers and small rooms. "this is the main hall." Maddoc said. "the first room on the right there is the banquet hall, next to it is the kitchen. over here on the left we have an indoor pool for bathing and a storage room next to that. now at the middle right, we have a lobby area and a sort of entertainment room. back on the left, in the middle, is my resting chamber. then just beyond all that in the back is the study and the library. then beyond that still, in the center of my home is the glass observation room." he said, pointing to each room as he mentioned it. Sindri looked around in all directions. "wow. nice." he smiled. Vito climbed up to his head, now sitting on top and looking all around. "i'll say! cool pad ya got here, sir!" the rat grinned. "so, what's in the observation room?" he asked curiously. Maddoc smiled at the young dragon. "why don't i show you?" he replied.
