I absolutely hate it. Granted there is nothing I can do about it when it comes to GITD Fright Rider, I dread the pegging style of Euro packaging.

First off, a friend sent me this -

I think i just blew up from being too jelly. please, stop being so awesome. i think the chop chop is the only variant i have ever felt like i "needed". chrome spyro was cool, but THIS chop chop takes the cake. if i had a choice between gnarly tree rex and the chrome choppy, i'd take the gnarly for collective purposes, but i would hesitate A LOT.

Lol, thanks guys. Really, though, we all have excellent collections. smilie

I got the last of my Ninjini's tonight, as well as Molten Hot Dog. Once I have Jade Flashwing, Legendary Chill, Spyro, Wrecking Ball, LC Pop, LC Chill, and single pack Hot Dog and Shroomboom, I will update the pics. Hoping to have it all by the 17th of March, if this date pans out.

No clue about Polar. People are saying they're finding it at a supermarket in Norway. It better release here, as well as Scarlet.

So, status update on new pics. Once I get Wrecking Ball and Spyro this week, I may update my collection pics. However, should I decide to hold off, I'm sure it will only be a couple more weeks until I update the pics, as I still don't have the wave 4 Lightcores (Chill and Pop Fizz).

I am still debating on it. I just grabbed Jade Flashwing, so I am 6/8 on ingame variants, so that's another figure down. There is also L-Chill, which is still absent from Oklahoma. I think she will be out before I grab the two new Lightcores.

Stay tuned. I will also be adding some new videos to my Youtube channel shortly.

Focus on White Flocked Prism Break, he's very rare.

Get Eruptor in the Triple Pack if you want to save $30.

Stump Smash is much more common.

Eh, it would take me being able to find the stone variants before I continue getting variants. If I can't have them all, I want none of the store bought chase variants, with the exception of the glitter Hot Head I bought.

If I do go after any white flocked, it would be Prism Break first. I will never buy any chase variants in a triple pack. It just doesn't feel as authentic as having them in single packs, but that's just me.

Sorry, let me rephrase my statement before some of the locals misconstrue my intentions.

If I can't have any of the Giants store chase variants, I don't want any of them, with the exception of the ones I already own, or might be given by my friend at Activision or friends from here in the long run.

This doesn't mean I am seeking to get rid of my variants from the first game, or the variants I already have from the second game.

However, the way I see it, it will go in order for how I buy the variants. Stone > glitter > flocked, because naturally the first variants, will be the first to disappear forever in time, due to being out of circulation.

Great collection-we are collecting one if each package sold--ie all triples, singles, etc. I've looked around for a good "check list" for this purpose but can't seem to find one. Any suggestions? I found a cool spreadsheet once --maybe here--but never have found that "right" one for this type of collecting. Would LOVE an app. I have all apps available but nine are geared towards collecting all the packages.
Suggestions?

Amazing collection!

My suggestion is we have the ear of one of the iOS developers on the thread, so make that suggestion! I've actually provided the same feedback that it was too character oriented and that we also need to track "packages" which in turn could also track the inventory of the item.

Well, only thing I really need are Lightcore Pop Fizz, Chill, and Triple Pack 7. I had thought about getting some LC Pop and Chill from overseas, but not getting all that I need, so that I could have them with the normal J-peg hook, but at the moment, I couldn't afford to do that.

Trying to get some stuff paid off, so just waiting for their release here. Thanks for the offer, though. I will PM you if I ever hear of something in the UK that you might be able to help me with. I might even reward you with extra if you ever do get to help me. I'll keep in touch.

Just a small update. I received my Stone Zook today, so now I am only missing 2 Glitters and the 3 White Flocked to have all "Specials" registered.

However, I think it's time I parted with my SSA variants.

It's not that I need money, because actually, I recently got a hold of a HUGE sum of money. I just want to streamline my collection and only display what shows up ingame, whether it be normally or differently (ie Specials and ingame variants).

The only chase variants I will buy for now on, are the ones that register as "Special." That means if Swap Force continues that trend, I will buy those chase variants.

I still think of my collection as really stellar, despite getting rid of these chase variants. I keep thinking to the things I am doing with my collection, buying 3 of each character, owning each version of every Skylanders game thus far, books, Mega Bloks, The Bobble Styli (plural for Stylus for those who don't know), all 9 Happy Meal toys, etc, and know my collection still will represent quality and quantity, once all is said and done.

Then there is Swap Force. Now that I've come into a huge sum of money, getting 17 of each Swap Force Skylander (which means buyin 17 copies of the game on day 1) won't cause me to break a sweat.

While I am trying to figure out how to display those figures in this room - thus using wall 4 of 4 - I keep thinking of how awesome and unique it will be to display all 256 combinations of Swap Force Skylanders, as well as any Legendaries, ingame variants, Specials, Core and Lightcore Skylanders, and returning favorites.

So, the originals variants have to go. I love Skylanders, and I will still go overboard, and while I don't need the money, I look at those variants and say to myself, "David, those hanging on your wall could take the kids on a trip and build memories." Sometimes, it's life that matters more than objects.

I still consider myself to be a Skylanders super fan, just minus 20 figures that do nothing more than look good on a wall. They don't register as "Special." They simply hold no significance to the Skylanders collection, other than to sit there and be silver, gold, glow in the dark, and be seethrough.

I will say, however, that I do plan on doing something neat. I plan on rebuying 1 of each SSA variant to open and display on a future chase variants shelf. Why only 1? Well, I want to buy my favorite figure in that style of variant. For example, I like Boomer the best out of the silver variants, so I will buy a Boomer in time and open him. I like Chop Chop the best, so I will buy the gold version of him. Glow Warnado, Clear Wham Shell, Pearl Hex, Plum Cynder, Chrome Spyro, are the ones I will choose from those style of variants to display with my Flocked Stump Smash, Blue Bash, Red Drill Sergeant, Green Gill Grunt, Bronze Flameslinger, Glow Fright and Sonic Boom, and eventually I will buy a second Employee Prism Break to open, as well as Toy Fair Chop Chop, and an additional Glitter Sprocket, and White Flocked Eruptor.

So, I have grand plans still. I don't need money, that's for darn sure, but I am starting to realize that those variants aren't worth keeping on my wall, but rather turning that into money to take my kids to see some place in the US, while saving the massive amount of money I recently got, for games, movies, Swap Force, more trips, and basically anything else.

My kids are worth more than these variants hanging on my wall, but my love for Skylanders and collecting will still grow beyond compare.

Just thought I'd let those who look at my collection, and enjoy looking at it, know what the deal is.

Life > expensive variants that don't even register as Special ingame. I already have them sold.

At the same time, I am still hunting for Stone Whirlwind, Glitter Sprocket, Sonic Boom, and White Flocked Stump Smash, Eruptor, and LC Prism Break, so I can own every "Special" chase variant.

But they hold no significance. They just sit there. Sure, my other sealed Skylanders do too, but these can be traded for family memories that will be remembered for a lifetime.

I said it before, and I'll say it again, the variants in SSA were dog ugly, minus the Glows (which are ugly when not glowing), clears, and Plum Cynder.

But, they just sit there, washing out the color - with their silver and gold tones - I've given this room.

A lot of people try to use the phrase "quality over quantity," but quality is in the eye of the beholder. I've seen good Skylanders collections that don't have a single chase variant in it. How about this? It's not the size of the boat.

I can do up my collection in a way that makes my collection look impressive without need of variants. Only reason I am hunting Giants variants, is they actually register as special ingame. If you look at their sticker sheet, you will see a small dot indicating they are a special version of said character.

Sometimes quantity can be quality, and sometimes it isn't. When I look at peoples' collections, I don't say, "okay, this person doesn't have any chase variants, so their collection doesn't have a quality vibe to it." That would be doing a lot of collectors here a disservice. I look at how they have their collections set up, and I say, "oh cool setup." I never give a second thought to who owns the variants and who doesn't.

So, when I build my ultimate game room one day, when I build a massive house, people will see how awesome my collection is, as they see all 256 combinations of Swaplanders displayed on a shelf, along with any Skylanders related merch, games, and other figures that have released at that time.

Again, I've simply seen some awesome collections that have no variants whatsoever. However, in defense of the variants, I do think the ones from Giants hold more significance to those trying to raise their registered number on Giants. I can only hope they still show up as Special in Swap Force. As for the SSA variants: "MEH!"

I'd rather trade those in for family memories, than something that could be lost and perhaps not replaced (ie if they are totally absent from Ebay in the future) in a tornado, fire, etc.

Not sure how selling 20 SSA variants can be traded for family memories, but whatever. If you're talking about using the money for a family vacation or something, well you just said multiple times that you are pretty much swimming in vast amounts of cash, so I really see no reason to sell them.

Yes, they are ugly, but they're still cool.

Keep in mind that every Swap variant will cause your "combo" display to grow exponentially. You know they will have some, at a bare minimum a Legendary one. I'm still curious how they will do a Legendary variant, will each part be Legendary, or just if one part is the combination is considered Legendary (as in the name it displays). For example, if Magna Charge were Legendary would he be Legendary Magna Legendary Charge or just Legendary Magna Charge. And combined with another, would it be Legendary Magna Buckler and Wash Legendary Charge or just simply Legendary Wash Charge?

Given that obviously you have to open packages to make combinations, that should limit your outlay some. It's not like you can have sealed versions of each. I'd still look into buying them by the wholesale case though, if at all possible - at least for Wave 1 when there won't be duplicates.

Overall, I'm very excited about Swap Force personally. I have quite the stable of figures ready to go for it and the combination thing looks fun for the kids. I finally decided to dip my toes into Infinity, but definitely not all in - my sons love Little Big Planet, so think they would have some fun with it. I ordered the WiiU version and a couple packs to take advantage of pre-order bonuses/deals. Swap Force is where my interests lie as far as these sort of games go.

Yeah, but just because I have a huge sum of cash now, why dip into it, when I have things hanging on my wall that can foot the bill, while I still build on the cash I recently got?

Gotta remember that one day I will die. We all will. I will have no use for variants that didn't even register as Special to hang on my wall. I did mean vacation. Selling those is like a free vacation, except my kids benefit from that. They don't benefit from these variants hanging on my wall.

Def, I agree. Swap Force should make for some interesting Legendaries, ingame variants, and chase variants. I just hope that chase variants for Swap Force register as "Special" like variants did in Giants. As I stated above, I also hope the chase variants from Giants still register and count toward your totals in Swap Force as well.

I hope TRU does what they've done for the past two games, and that's have a buy 1 get 1 half off on launch day, that way it makes it easier to buy 17 of whatever Swaplanders launch on day 1.

Gotta remember that one day I will die. We all will. I will have no use for variants that didn't even register as Special to hang on my wall. I did mean vacation. Selling those is like a free vacation, except my kids benefit from that. They don't benefit from these variants hanging on my wall.

Sorry, but this is a crazy argument. Yes, obviously, we will all die. No duh. You say you will have no use for variants that didn't even register as Special to hang on your wall when you're dead. Guess what? The variants that DO register as special will be just as useless to you when you're six feet under.

It's not really a free vacation, either. You already paid for that vacation. It's just hanging on your wall at the moment. Honestly, though, I don't care what you do. Go ahead and sell them and enjoy your vacation. I just think it's silly to put that much effort into something and then dismiss it like it was never important to you.

And you're not alone, GM. I know plenty of people with vacations hanging on their walls. They just call them flat screens instead of Skylanders.

Well, Skylanders is important to me, always will be. I just have to put certain things into perspective. If I am going to invest huge amounts of money into one figure, I want them to at least show up as Special ingame. The SSA variants don't.

The variants from Giants and onward, are very special to me. So, I will go after those for now on, while taking the money I spent on previous variants, getting it back, and doing something that my kids will remember, while I keep building the bank I've gotten recently, for things like further vacations, games, movies, and Swap Force.

I just decided I want my Skylanders collection to focus on things that actually show up ingame as Special or redecoed ingame.

I know ALL of my belongings will be useless when I move on from this life, but still, I can at least take the variants from SSA and trade it for a lasting memory with my family. They do nothing more than hang on my wall, sitting at level 5 with 2100 gold. If they would have registered as Special, there would be no way in heck I would get rid of them. However, they don't do nothing. They're not even colorful.

My favorite color is blue, but I do like vibrant colors. The glows look milky and dull, I absolutely hate gold and silver as a color. Plum Cynder looks awesome, but pearl is also dull.

Now, I will say this. If I become a millionaire, my perspective will change yet again. I wouldn't mind owning them again at that point in time. That's when I might buy 2 sets of SSA variants, even. 1 set to open, 1 set to keep sealed. However, it's only a thought, and even if I had access to THAT much money, I may still hesitate, due to the color schemes.

I'm just taking it one day at a time. For now, the SSA variants are useless, and no one has ever looked at my collection and said, "David, you collection is awesome only because you have SSA variants." Infact, people who come over and see my collection, or people who see them on the net, seemingly forget I even own them. They see the quantity and the way my room is setup, more than they see silver and gold figures hanging on my wall.

Some of my friends say my collection looks bad with those ugly variants hanging next to the cooler looking figures. I tell them, "but, they're rare." They say, "So, they're still ugly as ****. I wouldn't own them if I were into Skylanders."

My friends came over the other day. One got to see my collection for the first time. He even took a panorama pic of all three walls. When my friend brought him in, he said, "Look at the amount of Skylanders he owns." He was taken back by the sheer amount. Not once did either friend even aknowledge the fact I had variants. Most people who look at my collection act as though they don't even exist.

That's not the total reason I am getting rid of them, though. I have seen some cool collections and not one of those collections had a single variant from SA or Giants. Didn't stop me from saying, "cool," when I saw how people had their collections displayed.

I just think it's time to part with Skylanders that are nothing more than cosmetic on the outside. I am only going for characters that can at least show up as Special in Giants and future games. It makes the investment more worth it.
