The mysterious countdown on "The Legend Of Spyro: The Eternal Night" has me kind of worried. My mom told me that countdowns on sites could mean two things. One, that it's a countdown toward something new or something of importance that is being released. Or two, that some random internet user could've put that timer there, and when the timer hits zero, crashes the overall site. Now I thought that the timer is for upcoming information on the upcoming game "The Legend Of Spyro: The Darkest Hour". But since I heard this, I'm kind of on edge on the moment. I mean, I still believe 95.5% that this countdown is toward the upcoming information that Krome Studios is probably planning on releasing. But I kind of have an uneasy feeling (a guesstimated 4.5% worry) that something bad might happen to that site. And I was just wondering what you guys think of this.

Well, from what I've heard from my mom, there have been some cases in which a mysterious timer has been found on a site. Then, after the countdown hit zero, the entire site crashed and it was unavailable to access for quite some time.

Yup. It is. Although this countdown clock just might be made from the Krome Studios Company, and may just be a countdown toward more info. on this game. But you never know.........

I doubt it'll wipe out the site. Even the forums.vugames.com moderators see it as legit.

the countdown.....i'v seen the second one (the next wave) and theres a third wave moving on earth...nut when they don't know..and the chance........1,000,000,000 to 1 and we all know how that turned out

Let's use some logic here. Why would someone hack the Spyro site, for a start? We're not exactly the biggest, most notable fandom out there. If someone did hack the site, do you honestly think they'd waste enough time to make a fully-functioning, official-looking Flash intro page? I highly doubt that. All the images currently available to the fandom of that particular scene are not good enough quality to match up with the image we now see on the main page. And, if this was a hack, I daresay the people who maintain the site would have taken it down by now. The site is owned and run by a huge company; I think they can afford good security.

So, in short, you're worrying about nothing.

It shouldn't be; that title sucked. And if the game sucked too, then it would mark something awkwardly ironic.

I don't think it would crash. Why would anyone crash such a good site anyway?

Not everybody likes spyro...Most used too..But this could be a terrorist attack from the old spyro gamers..Or its something Vu will suprise us with..If it crashes...Im gonnna get a truckload of bombs...and bomb every supsects house to the ground!

Why would some do that? Crash the whole spyro site!? Probably my friend was a bit hyper with the countdown which worries me too.

im pretty sure the people running the site would have caught it by now if it was somethingbad, like cone on, its on the main page when you go to the site, and im pretty sure the admingoes on every day and checks that is okay

Zacoda, I am appalled at your logic. The people who complain the most about the new Spyro games seem to be the new fans who didn't grow up with the series. Most of the old-school fans that I know (myself included) are enjoying the new games plenty.

Razz is right there is no need to worry, news has struck about the new spyro game. Also many people would have the spyro lair secured so that no one would destroy a news breaking site.

Oh, never mind guys. Apparently my first statement was a little bit off of what my mom really meant. (I mean that the first statement could happen on other sites, but apparently that's not what my mom was actually saying. She's changed her answer, for some unknown reason and without any influence from me, on this topic question) She meant that sometimes during countdowns like this that after it hits zero (whether it be a hacked countdown or a regular game developer countdown), that your site could completely crash. What I mean is that sometimes if there is so much information being programmed into a computer at once, and was programmed to be accessible after the countdown hit zero, then the countdown could probably crash your computer. This answer that my mom has just said seems a lot more possible to happen to anyone who's on that site the moment it hits zero. Since the game designers for the game most likely made that timer, they probably planned on the computer automatically putting information regarding this game the moment the clock hit zero.

Side Note: Since I'm still a little skeptical about this idea, though, I'm just curious to see whether this new idea my mom came up with is true or not. So, out of curiousity, could any one of you guys actually open up that site and see what would happen after the clock hits zero on your computer? I was planning on testing this theory out on my laptop, but I found out some bad news regarding this issue. Turns out that since the timer is set to expire around 12:00 P.M. GMT time, I'll, unfortunately, not be awake when this event occurs. So, could one of you guys do it, perhaps?
