Maybe there should be a meter in everybodys profile, only visible to them, and controlled by Dark52 showing how close they are to being suspened or banned, maybe this could help control people so they dont go to far..... i rally have no more ideas so this is the last

Good idea. I've been half-curious about this sort of thing myself.

However, the only downside is that we'll either need plenty of mods to update it, or dark52 will be up all night doing so instead.

Either that or we could have an automated system, which detects double posting, short and pointless posts, bad language, checks where links lead, and other stuff.

Yeah, but what about the Double Posting that occurs during my Glitch Guide updates???? Or the Double Posting that occurs during your Boss Guides???? Because of that ocurring, I might get in trouble for something that isn't my fault!!!! So I would rather say no to having one of these. (In less there's a way to get around the Double Posting things that may occur in those sections of the site.)

Hmm... to sort that, couldn't there be a system which automatically splits long posts into several posts, which not only saves someone having to cut and paste a certain amount but also makes those extra posts not against the rules. I hope everyone understands what I mean...

It is know as a Warn Meter on invisionfree boards. Basically, if we don't like how someone is behaving, we warn them, leaving a caption as to why we did that. I believe on The CARA Forum, 50% warn gets you suspended for 2 days, 75% gets a week suspension, and 100% requires a moderator gathering to discuss what to do with the user.

ya, thats what i meant, that would work but i dont know if dark52 likes the idea, he'll probably never read this any way, but i think its a good idea

it may be hard, it would need a breaking-rule detector, may be hard to make one

Well, let's go through each rule and see what we can do to have it automatically detected when broken. Also, the % of damage it will do to this meter HIR suggested.

Don't swear or use offensive language. - Well, something that detects disallowed words or stuff. Rather than having this damage, when you post it it will come up with 'Error: Banned words in post' or something like that, so you'll be forced to remove the offensive language before the post can go up.

Don't spam. - Well, I don't see much that could be done here. Maybe pointless posts of, say, a '(' alone or something could add 5 or so % to your meter.

Only be one person - Simple. IP Adress detection. If two accounts are found on the same IP, action will be taken, but 20% damage to the meter will only be made if it is found out that a second account has indeed been made, and will not be damaged if it is prooved that it's merely two people sharing a computer or such.

Don't post links to illegal/pornographic material. - Simple. A device that reads all links and if it finds one leading to something pornographic, 50% damage will be dealt to the meter.

Don't troll/flame other users. - Ooh, this one's tricky. I think this one might need some discussing. 40% damage if found guilty.

Don't bump topics. - Using the spam detector and a certain amount of time between posts (e.g. a month), any topic bumps will earn you 15% damage.

Be constructive with criticism - Again, the spam detector can pick out one word posts and such and charge you.

Stay on topic - I don't know about this one. Maybe it could detect if posts have loads of words that in no way relate to the topic in hand. Anyway, 5% for 'off-topicing'.

Don't post in a disruptive manner. - Full caps detector, numbers in words, whatever. Another 5% for being disruptive.

Use the edit button. - Double post detector. Before you can post again, unless if the previous post is a certain amount of characters (a bit under the max), something will pop up saying 'Error: Two posts in a row' or something similar.

Don't misuse the Report Post feature. - No bother. Dark52 reads the posts anyway and will just remove the feature from the user himself. No need for automatic detection thingies here.

Please use English - Non-english words in a post will cause 'Error: Non-english Language in Post'.

As for lowering the damage on your meter, for every hour between 9am and 9pm, 1% will be taken from the damage to your meter. So basically, decreases damage by 12% a day.
