Spyro will be fantastic in the next-gen consoles... Now, Sierra Entertainment have a rich story to use and all the power of the new consoles. I want to see the old characters, collectibles and game-play united to this new experience intruduced in ANB... It is a perfect fusion, isn't it?!

Anybody have a notice, rumor or speculation of an upcoming Spyro game? I know is very early to this, but any notice is welcome!

Speaking of old characters, does anyone here think that protagonists such as Hunter or Stg.byrd or antagonists such as Ripto or Red, should be brought into the new storyline, with some differences? For example, each character would have a different background compared to their original incarnation, and minor changes to their appearance and personality, for example, Red would be truely evil, not just under the control of a sorcerer, and Ripto would be a truly formidable opponent in both the black arts and in hand to hand combat. But, if these villains were to be in the sequel, they should still play second fiddle to the Dark Master, who would be the main antagonist.

The blending of the new and old storylines will come. The 2008 film and future games based on that film will begin to shift the original Spryo storyline into a merger with the New Beginning one. A sequel to A New Beginning is already in the works. Krome Studio will continue to make new episodes to A New Beginning while my company gears up to do the film and a new game trilogy based on the original storyline and upcoming film. The two storylines will link up at some point in a currently in-development animated series that will follow after the films and new games.

Yes Jamieque, I've heard all about your attempts to save the oringinal continuty, which I admire, but you have to take into consideration that your new film will probably not be made part of the official Spyro continuty, either the old one or the new one. Unless VU Games officially puts the story of your fan film into either continuty, it will be assumed the the original Spyro continuty and the new one both take place in seperate universes, not in the same continuty or story, ANB was a reboot after all,
and that the only way to have characters such as Hunter and Ripto in the new continuty is to have brand new versions of these characters brought into the new continuty.

The issue with the storyline of the film being made official is being discussed. Either way, I don't consider the film a fan film due to the level of work that is being put into this film. As far as I am concern, Michael, the Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning is a prequel to the orignal series. I consider the New Spyro to be the ancestor of the original. Trust me when I say the way the storylines will blend will very believable. I am happy that Krome made A New Beginning because it gives some foundations to the storyline of the original Spyro. Also, the Dark Master plotline will be put to great use down the road.

So call me old fashion or just plain stubborn, Michael but the film LOA (Legacy of Ages) will be a continuation to the original storyline in film form. After the film a planned new game trilogy, LOA: HEROES, will take place bring a new level of depth and detail to the franchise that even A New Beginning has yet to do. As far as I concern, if Krome decides to bring Hunter and the others into the new storyline of Legend then I'll treat them as the ancestors of the original characters. Krome's new plotline doesn't prevent or hurt my plan to blend both storylines at all. They actually have helped me out a great deal.

At the moment, Michael, I am not at liberty to say or answer your question. All I can say is that there is talks going on and leave it at that. The film now has a rough release date of NOVERMBER 2008. The poster for the film will show up soon so be on the lookout. There is already artwork up for the film at Spyroforum.com or you can go to google and type in: Spyro: Legacy of Ages and it should point you in the right direction.

The first of what will be many film trailers for the film is in the works currently along with the film website. By the way, auditions for roles in the film is currently going on. Also, go read my Dragon of Destiny series of fanfiction.net. The final episode of season one has been uploaded. Trust me when I say the episode has one major twist at the end.

I have just taken a quick look at your DOD series Jamieque, and I must say that it looks quite impressive if I may say so myself. However,I myself am not really interested in fan fiction because of how fan fiction convults both the story and setting of a series.

Yeah, I am currently writing the 3 part season premiere, CHILDHOOD'S END which will serve as a bridge between end of Season One and the beginning of Season Two. One thing is for sure that Spyro and Flame's relationship as brothers will take on a very different look and feeling in season two. In other words the Spyro Universe is about to go so real times of change and growth. The end of an age is upon Spyro, his friends and the other dragon clan families. Now the series will change directions and head off in a more unpredictable future direction.

Even though a slight glimpse of the future does exist (Vanguardian Heroes: Team Skyler) that doesn't mean that that future is the TRUE future. It is just one of many possible futures that will become quite apparent this season. Also, expect some shocking plot twists and other changes. If you think Season One was jaw opening interesting then get ready because Season Two is really going to make that open jaw of yours hit the floor.

Anyway, back to the main topic here. The chances of ther being a new Spyro game are really high, particularly if one takes into consideration the fact that ANB is a reboot. It will more than likely feature the Dark Master as the main antagonist and it may be released in 2008, seeing how that is the tenth anniversiary. However, VU did nothing special for Crash Bandicoot's tenth anniversiary, which is this year, except for releasing a terrible party game on the Nintendo DS called Crash Boom Bang, and with Christmas 2007 being the first Chirstmas when all three seventh generation consoles are available worldwide( which I believe will be an all out console war), Chirstmas 2007 would be a great time for a sequel for ANB to be released.

Well, I doubt we'll be seeing a movie or a television series any time soon, but, if VU does more for Spyro's tenth anniversiary than it did for Crash Bandicoot's, will may get a "super game", as you put it.

Actually, speaking of re-releasing the original Spyro trilogy, Sony has started a new Playstation games download serive. It involves going online with a Playstation 3, downloading a PS1 game onto the hardrive, and then transferring the game onto a PSP. So far only a hand full of games have been released, including Tekken 2 and the original Crash Bandicoot, meaning the original Spyro game could be soon launched on that service(which is good, because it is the only Spyro game I don't have because it's so hard to find these days).

yes, but like for example, nintendo owns super mario bros. PS3 couldnt do anything with mario without permision, and if they did Sont would probably cease to exist because of all the copyright laws. if Wii were to do that they would have to ask permission from the game owners

Well, the original trilogy was made by a union between Insomniac Games(the developer), Universal Interactive Studios (now VU Games) and Sony, both of which jointly published the game. However, similarly to how the union between Naughty Dog and the said two publishers to make the Crash Bandicoot series went sour, so did Insomniac Games' union with them. As of now, Sony(to my knowledge) holds the rights to the original Spyro trilogy(as they do with the Crash Bandicoot trilogy and its spin-off, Crash Team Racing). This means Sony decides what to do with the three games, and I doubt they would let Nintendo get their hands on them. After the union between the three parties fell, Universal had the rights to continue on with the series, Sony, as stated above had the rights to the original trilogy and Insomniac had no right to use Spyro in any way, shape or form. With Universal now owning the series, they decided to release any future games on any console they wished. That is why we will (probably)never see the original three games on a Nintendo, Microsoft or any non-Sony videogame console.
