On the final days of the Year of the Dragon, which is a party for all the new dragon eggs that come into the Dragon Realms, all the eggs were hatched except one - a dark green one with yellow polka dots. Mother looked at her egg and sighed, "Oh, please hatch soon." and with this wish, the egg cracked open, and out fell a tiny dragon hatchling. "Oh, how cute! I will call you... Little Dragon." Mother cooed.
On the first day of school, Little Dragon felt like an outcast because he was so small. Everyone began to make fun of him, and he ended up weeping everyday during his walk home to the Family Den. And when he came home, Mother always took pity upon him, "Oh, it'll be ok, Little Dragon. Just keep your head up and ignore the others. You're there to learn, anyhow!" she always said, hugging Little Dragon tightly.
Years later, Little Dragon had only grown a few inches. He was then 6, and his Mother came to him and said, "Little Dragon, today is the day that you will finally meet Father!" Little Dragon was overcome with joy! Mother had always told him story after story about Father's battles in the Great War. He waited all that morning at the entrance to the Family Den, desperate to be the first one to see Father.
"My dear, I have returned!" said a loud, gruff voice. There stood a larger than life, dark green dragon with golden eyes - Father. "Ah, my sweet! Indeed you have come back! The egg hatched while you were gone, and he is the sweetest child!" Mother said happily. Father smiled, "Then where is the boy? Let me see my new little soldier!" Little Dragon hopped over to him, a huge smile on his face. Father's smile faded, "What is this!? His appearance is a shame to the family!" his voice boomed. Little Dragon whimpered and stepped back towards his mother. His size was something to worry deeply about after all.
Later that night in the Family Den, Little Dragon listened to his parent's conversation. "Honey, you must give Little Dragon a chance!" Mother pleaded. "You even named him after his size!? That's even more ridiculous!" Father huffed. Little Dragon finally had enough with this. He wasn't going to let his size let him down! He marched out of his room and at the entrance of his parent's. He squeaked to get their attention, put a determined look on his face, dug his claws into the dirt floor and... WOOSH!! Out came a bright, hot blast of fire! Father's eyes widened, "That's amazing! I should've never judged you, my son!" Mother smiled with glee, "Big things come in small packages, hmm?"
