So far, he's already gotten more attention in these past few months than in all of the last ten years. It's possible, but we won't know until the game's release.

Doubt it, seeing how the older crowd (whom use the internet much more than the kids that like Skylanders) dispise this game.

Well, let's put it this way.

Spyro's Series is getting it's fourteenth game. Three of them have been 8/9 average between reviewers, most 5-7, and two 2/4 (ETD and ETDII... TEN being it's other name. Skylanders will be ETDIII). So, that being said, the series as a WHOLE is not a 8/9 series, rather only the original trilogy. Now...

In raw mathematics, Skylanders has a 21.42 percent chance of success, based off of numbers. Based on the generational gap, it is not possible to capitalize further on the original popularity of Spyro, and the chances are shot with a fair portion of the two rivaling Spyro fanbases, Classic Spyro and Legend Spyro, in anger over some details. As well, a calculated $500 dollars total for SKylanders and all figurines (Not including DLC yet to be made making a likely $625), which figures in shipping, tax, processing, handling, and other factors for the extraordinary numbers of cost. Judging from the price, it might be a question of who would pay that much, or who could afford that much.

If the series comes back, which is unlikely beyond belief, Skylanders will NOT be the game that does it. It's more a one off than a series, and it's more a spin-off than a reboot.

This. They had the chance to do so in the PS2 days, and they blew it. Completely blew what the Spyro franchise had built up. Sad, really, or else we'd still have Insom-style Spyro today- maybe to the extent he'd be as popular as Sonic or, dare I say, Mario.

You see, back then, familiarity was strong enough with the kids. They knew the old games, and wanted more of what they liked in them. Now, that popularity cannot be capitalized on because most kids in the 6-12 demographic (The ideal demographic if you want to continue a fanbase) have the expression of "???" when they hear the name Spyro. They are now at the point they wouldn't know LOS either because even then, they would have been too young for the target demographic.

Or to whoever might review it. Games with some of the elements included in SKylanders average 3-5.

Who knows? It's incredibly unlikely, but it appears Skylanders is having Spyro as a CAMEO, and that Activision is going to go on with SKylanders without him afterward.

Well, Spyro 1 sold over 20 million copies. Come on, Skylanders will sell nowhere near that at the price it is at. If it did, then Skylanders would have made over 1.4 billion dollars, assuming NO ONE buys any of the extras. At best there, you are looking at 10 billion dollars. I know of no game that could make that.

Certainly this is the biggest thing revolving around Spyro since the original trilogy. I think it's likly the game will be a success with the way things are going now. We won't know for sure though until the game's release.

I would almost rather not think about it. There will be a huge mess that comes out of it for sure. I hope it doesn't end up like it was back when DotD came out or even worse then that. With all of the SL haters there are right now I think we should all prepare ourselves for what's to come.

Yeah they'll probably be raging about the game not being exactly what they've been claiming and speculating to be like.

If it is popular then they'll never live it down for all the trash they talked about it. They'll always find a way to hate it though even if it's for the littlist thing that has no meaning in it whatsoever.

Meh, haters gonna hate!

Like I said earlier, the chances of it comparing in success to the original are slim. Think about it, things aren't guaranteed to be a hit solely because it causes a stir. Sure, it's getting attention, but it's mostly negative. Also, consider how this game is a SPIN-OFF, not an actual part of Spyro continuity.

I guess. But I was just speculating as to HIS logic.

Personally, I just look at reviews, patterns, the market, and sales. Judging from most past Spyro games, it's really most of a "What if?" then a given.

Hmm, I do doubt it will be quite as successful as the original trilogy but we still won't know until the games release. Also the game has recieved attention that has been less negative. most of the negativity comes from the whiny haters.
