For some reason, I can't put my finger to it but the new levels of The Darkest Hour may take place in the islands where the Guardians went to, having to warn the "others". It might be, you're maybe right Brazilian Spyro.

Yeah. Anyway, Spyro, Cynder, and Sparx could start out near Malefor...
or, again, where the Guardians went.

I think it'll start in the ruins of Malefor, or, shortly after they get out of the crystal, though I hope we start the game from where TEN ended.
