DarkSpyro can't 'die' per say, because it has no life. Everyone who has no life is supplying it. The cause? Young and/or new members are flaming and/or not knowing their way around. Trolls are using this to their advantage, throwing insults at them which eventually starts a fight. Then someone eventually brings up religion and torok joins the arguement, defending God and forcing him down their throats until members get so pissed, that a large holocaust forms around the site. The effects result in members asking to be banned or leaving. Another effect would be the banning or suspending of the major causers of the destruction. In turn, people hear of these disasters and decide not to join the site, therefore there will be no new members, and the site will begin to degrade in population until the D Man gets so pissed and depressed that he closes the site, 'killing' it.

What should be done?

1.) No speaking of religion anywhere on the site.
2.) No flaming and/or spamming topics that could result in commotion. (a.k.a. hate topics of Skylanders)
3.) A possible age limit.
4.) All Mlp, furry, etc. related things must only be posted in the official threads.
5.) More respect of other peoples' opinions.

I have to disagree with you on the bold parts.
SPEAKING of Religion is fine,ARGUING is not.
Spyro is a game for all ages. People complain when 8-12 year olds join but it is a game rated 'E for Everyone' not '12+'.
Since there is a post limit, their will be like five of each thread. smilie Plus, sometimes key posts/points get lost. Simply saying number 2 would be fine as I hope MLP,Furry, etc. threads still apply with that rule. No spamming/flaming.
I have to admit that you shouldn't respect other's opinions so it's should be a problem if they like MLP/Furries. smilie

I think I have to disagree wth you on age limit, I think there should be a reasonable one, most younger people ovbiously don't know how to use the net, I've had encounters with many younger people shouting "HELP ME!!!!! I DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET TO THE GUIDEBOOK, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CHANGE AN AVATAR!!!" If they don't even know that, and how to ask for help properly, they shouldn't even be allowed on the internet, but I'm guessing that's due to the parents, that's an awkward rule really.

Nothing can stay perfect forever.
( IDK if this site was "perfect" to begin with, though. lol )

Also, I don't think there should really be an age limit... I've know teenagers my age who can't even "Copy and Paste". :I While i've known 11 year olds who have perfect grammar and can have an good conversation without overreacting.

It's really just your experience on the internet and maturity, in my opinion. *shrugs*

Oh, for the love of... *facepalm*

dS isn't dying. It is, in fact, more active now than it has been since around 2008/2009.

As for an age limit: no. That's just stupid. Frankly, I see more ill-behaved over-13s here than anything else. All the youngsters I've met on this forum have been pretty nice and they learn the rules quickly. Besides, the new fanbase is going to be a lot of kids under 12 and it's just spiteful and rude to exclude them.

The only real problem we have here now is keeping topics on-topic in the appropriate boards. If we can learn to stay more or less on topic and maybe phase out some of the unnecessary crudeness that crops up, I think a lot more people will want to come back here.

Yea, ds is not "dying". it's certainly more active recently and once Skylanders comes out there will certainly be a ton of more users coming on.

and an age limit would be a stupid idea, honestly. the problems that I see going on now are absolutley nothing compared to what it used to be back a couple years ago. and that goes for not only ds but the entire fandom.

if people could learn how to control and contain themselves that would solve simply just tons of problems.

I also agree with what Razz said about users. the younger are for the most part kind. so to put an age limit would be entirely ridiculous.

I repeat: no. That's just stupid and rude. Most of the younger Spyro fans are just fine. The problems are coming almost entirely from over-13 fans.

The site isn't dying. You of all people should know this when you reside in the most active part of the forum.

Staying on topic is one of the least things to be concerned about, and odds are guests that visit barely notice it, since they most likely just skim through the topic.

Hell, some members might even want to join simply because of the chaos, as opposed to SF, which is much more orderly.

Nope. There can easily be mature users under the age of 9.

Example? See Thunderdragon.

Odd. I left when the off-topicness was at its worst and I know a lot of people who did likewise (and who never came back). At this point, we've gotten to at least still talking more or less about similar subject matter when going off-topic, which is nice. It makes it tolerable.

It's dead/dying in the sense that it doesn't have the kind of atmosphere a fansite about a childrens video game series should have. I think it's because people are just jerks for some reason.
*shrug*

More often than not I see new users being flamed to hell just for not knowing the site and being a little careless when it comes to the rules, and rather than help people scream at them and say 'U R DOIN IT WRONG! GO AWAI NAO!' But bear in mind, I like everyone else form my opinions from what I see, so maybe that opinion IS a bit skewed given that I don't often have the pleasure of seeing a new user being treated nicely the way some others might.

Also, we have countless trolls on this site, and for some reason they're allowed to stay while new users who (despite being clueless and hyper online) could become good additions to the site are driven off. Part of this problem is a lack of mods and a little-present admin. Yeah I know know it's said almost all the time around here, but that's because it's true.

On top of that people seem to be jerks for no reason at random times. Even those who have a reputation for being decent or nice have a tendancy to be just plain rude from time to time. For example if someone asks a question with a well known or obvious answer someone will answer but sometimes in a rude way. Sometimes people bring grudges from other sites and offline in here, and thus begins bullying and trolling. Sometimes people bring thier bad attitudes and blow off steam on the site, speading thier ill will (hehehe... I'm guilty of this...).

And finally, all this negativity seems to affect everyone. Even good, friendly, polite people are made angry short tempered and bitter over all the BS on this site, and then they too fall into the mess of trolls and whatnot and make it worse. They do what I described in the last sentence of the paragraph above; they get to be generally fed up with it all, get mad, and vent thier anger here. And so the cycle starts again.

Such is the way of Dark Spyro, and because of it we loose new and old users left right and center because they are driven away by specific people or occurences, they're put off quickly by all the negativity here, or their opinion towards the site sours because of the persistent fighting that permiates this place.

I will say it once more, this may well be fixed my moderators. I for one think it would be best to put a points system in place that lets the admin/mods keep track of who misbehaves but also gives those who do so a fair fighting chance to turn themselves around. I have an idea for a five or ten point system in which every time a user misbehaves they get a point. If they recieve five points they are suspended, if they recieve ten they are banned. A user can have points removed through good behaviour.

^What do you think? Feel free to build on it.

EDIT: @Fireball, Though I agree with most of your ideas (except the age limit) I'd like to point out that what you just did there, pointing the finger at Torok like that, is an example of one of the biggest problems on this site. The bullying around here is atrocious already and regardless of what they did/said, bringing someone up and portraying them as some huge problem all on thier own, ESPECIALLY in a topic where they never posted, is a very rude thing to do. By all means point out groups of users in general (in this case religious arguers), but there's no need to make such an example of anyone specific. Trust me, I've seen it happen before, and it ALWAYS leads to a fight.

I agree on every old and new member leaving here because of this site's bad reputation. It seems like now every month, this site gets even worse. And it's seriously messed up how the trolls are the only people that are allowed to stay without the admin not doing anything to them like banning them for flaming others.

I've already lost an old friend on here back when I was still Cynder985 and I believe it was just because of how terrible this site has become. Yes, mods would be great right now, but the problem is that the admin is still too stubborn on hiring any. -__-
