You know that song Sparx tends to sing on Skabb's ship, where he's all like "Swing low, sweet chariot! Comin' forth to carry me home!", or something?

...Is that an excerpt from an actual song, or did they just make it up? I've always wondered that...

How can Sparx know about that song anyway? Did he come to Earth and listen to it, and say "GOONRO!" and go back again?

That's one of the many obnoxious and nonsensical pop culture references it seemed to be Sparx's job as a tedious comic relief character to make. smilie

Most of Sparx's humour seems to be sarcastic, douchebag comments (which I love). smilie

I would have liked them more minus the pop culture references. That's probably why I liked him best in TEN; Billy West made me laugh and there weren't any "Wizard of Oz" jokes crammed in. I don't remember him saying anything in DotD except that line about his voice always changing (which was pretty funny).

"We're not in Kansas anymore" is said by Sparx either in ANB or TEN (I can't remember which one).

It's ANB. But I didn't realise it was a Wizard of Oz reference.

You didn't? But...how? o.O I've never met anyone in my life who hasn't seen that dratted movie. o.O

I've seen bits and pieces. But I don't remember watching the whole thing. It usually is "just on" in people's houses during Christmas and what not, and I have seen bits and pieces while visiting people's houses.

That makes sense. I've seen it a few times and it never really interested me. The book is much better, as is the musical "Wicked".

I wouldn't be interested in the book or movie. Doesn't seem like my kind of thing.

The musical might be to your tastes since it's pretty unlike either the movie or the book, but it might not be if you're not a theatre nerd like me. smilie

I've seen the Wizard of Oz, it's a fun movie, but I wouldn't want to watch it all the time, I'd probably watch it once every few years smilie

I wouldn't call myself a theatre nerd, but I have went to a few plays as part of drama class (favourite subject, too bad they only do it in Transition Year in my school.... smilie), and I have really enjoyed some of them. I have even performed in an adapation of the musical "South Pacific", and have performed a monologue on my TY graduation night.

That's awesome! smilie Well, in that case, "Wicked" comes highly recommended for the soundtrack alone. It's a pretty popular musical, too, and for some good reasons.

It's a clasiic song from the olden days that slaves tended to sing. The scene fit the theme.

oh come on dont you think that perhaps your a bit too harsh razz? I mean the original "Wizard of Oz" came out in like 1938-1940. It has limitations based on the time it came out, like saying that the colors werent bright in "its a wonderful life"
