Sonic Boom is kind of puppy-cute while I found Cynder(or DotD Cynder at least) to be stupendously ugly.

Tomb Raider survived as a franchise solely because people found Lara Croft attractive. Some folks have stranger tastes, yes, but when you grow up watching cartoons and playing games with non-human characters you become attached to, that's understandable.

Personally, I wouldn't call Sonic Boom attractive (unless she's confirmed female, in which case, woo! a bulky female character! ), but I think she's a definite improvement on DotD Cynder (who really looked like she needed a sandwich).

Isn't Cynder a wind dragon? Well, Sonic Boom is a sky griffin, which is about the same.

Sonic Boom to me is Toys For Bob's way of giving the fans "what they want".

The nastier side of me definitely agrees with you, CAV. While it's possibly just a coincidence, in my weaker moments I like to think they did this on purpose just to spite the obnoxious fans (you know the ones: creepy Cynder cultists, the kids sending hate male, etc.).

That could be why they did it. They were going to make a normal character, then looked at all the mail and decided to somewhat shape it like Cynder.

Probably not, but if that is the reason, then I would really love these guys.

Like I said, I simply meant that in the way that I like the design better. Better looking can mean anything. If you're the type of person that likes mexican food, a taco can be better looking to you than a burger.

The guidebook lists him as male but I like the idea of another female in Skylanders.

Those looked an awful lot like Cynder too. One of the things I wasn't that fond of about HtTyD.

Tried zooming in on the eyes, I can't see any eyelashes to tell if it's female or not. The only pic of Sonic Boom is too dark and small of an image to confirm female. Just wait I guess.

It's just a gryphon. They might have some similarities, but it's not enough to say one was based on the other, unless there was official confirmation.

They were probably made them because gryphons fit into the game's fantasy setting perfectly - just like the elves, elementals, dragons, and everyone else in the game... And they're cool

That's your opinion, for me, I like Tomb Raider because of the crazy levels that make no sense really, and killing the enemies can be challenging too, I don't really think much of her being sexy, maybe a little, but it doesn't strike out at me that much. I just find that the levels are interesting, and the gameplay can be hectic too, like rollerballs that come out of nowhere and make you jump.

I agree with this aswell, if it really does look like Cynder, it's probably just a coincidence, just look at how many characters there are, it's bound to happen.

re: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft's sexiness

I'm with a lot of you guys who don't think (at least the old version) of Lara Croft is particularly sexy. But most of you are too young to remember what her early days were like. I'm not stating an opinion when I say that her franchise survived because she was a sex symbol. In the 90s, there was official provocative art of her (and a lot of it, too), tons of mature sites and game patches dedicated to the TR series, a string of official look-alike models who posed provocatively (one even got in Playboy magazine)... The list just goes on and on. Just because you personally don't think she's attractive doesn't mean that her series didn't survive because of it.

At this point in time, it's actually more unusual for someone not to have at least one fictional/fantasy crush. Especially these days when fictional characters are becoming increasingly real. In several interviews with professional game reviewers, for instance, it is mentioned that at least one person in the conversation finds Lara Croft attractive.

Besides would fans really want Cynder to return among with old characters? They would look like Spyro being hit by a train and goblinized.

I want to see Skylanders Elora, but she hasn't appeared in a game since YotD, so I'd be happy with anything involving her.

I'd laugh my head off if Cynder did appear, but I really hope she doesn't. It would cause more problems than it's worth and Sonic Boom already looks so similar to her.
