When there was a raid on the dragon temple by the Dark Armies to destroy the dragon eggs, three survived. One of which was a shadow moon dragon, named Shadowscar. Shadowscar was raised in the Felmuth arena, a dragon born to fight. He lived there, until he was 8 years old. Because he was never allowed to go outside, and had never met another dragon, he had never learned to fly or breathe fire. In fact, he didn’t even know he was a dragon. One day, a fire broke out in the arena, and Shadowscar took this as a chance to escape. He ran for days, hardly stopping. He finally reached a dense forest, where he met a dragon called Moonfang. Moonfang was a spirit dragon, reincarnated from the spirit world, as he supposedly had a ‘destiny’ ahead of him.

This is now in the timeline of ANB.

Shadowscar felt the blood trickle from the three jagged scars around his eye. He lifted his bloodied paw to wipe away the blood, but made no difference, as more blood poured from the wound. He padded to the stream to wash his face. “Could you catch me a fish?” his friend, Moonfang asked.
“After I catch myself one,” Shadowscar answered. So Shadowscar walked to the stream that ran through the middle of the forest that they were in. The trees were tall, losing their golden brown leaves in the autumn breezes. Shadowscar gazed at the clouded stream, looking for fish. His silent gazing was interrupted by a deafening roar. “It must be that black dragon again,” Moonfang said, speaking his thoughts aloud, as usual.

Thanks. The first one told about Shadowscar's past, like how he grew up. But you don't have to read it if you don't want to. Back to the story...

The black dragon was always flying over the forest, though usually at night. This didn’t really mind the two dragons, as they were nocturnal, but it did scare away prey that they were usually hunting. Their prey usually consisted of deer. Shadowscar had recently heard that there were more dragons, apart from himself, Moonfang and the black dragon, Cynder. In fact, he knew that there was at least one other dragon, as he was involved in a violent fight with one not long ago. The dragon was yellow, and much larger that him. It was an electric dragon, quite skilled in the element. But Shadowscar had evaded most of it's attacks. He had to hide from the dragon, though, as it was still too strong for him, and felt like a coward for it. He had sworn to defeat the yellow dragon, some day. Meanwhile, he would try to find other dragons, his age.

One night, Shadowscar noticed a castle in the distance. He silently spread his wings, trying not to disturb Moonfang, who was asleep, although he was nocturnal. The moonlight glistened onto his scales, making them gleaming silver. He finally leapt, after absorbing enough of the moons power, and flapped his wings, as silently as an owl. He glided down to the lake below, to drink some of the refreshing water, glinting in the moonlight. Shadowscar decided that he could have something to eat, and so scanned the lake for splash-signs of fish.

"FOUND YOU, DITCHER!!!"

"WHA-!?" Shadowscar replied, startled by the sudden voice. He spun around, ready for a fight, but only to see Moonfang.

"What are you doing here!?" Shadowscar demanded.

"Ditcher! I'm coming with you!" Moonfang replied.

"You don't even know where I'm going!"

"So? Best friends stay together! Oh...We are still friends, aren't we?"

Here it is!
There was more, but there were too many characters. Oh Bother!

“Yes, of course we are, it’s just…You could get hurt.”
“Oh, is that the only reason? So it’s not because you hate me?”
“NO! You’re my best and only friend; I wouldn’t let you go, ever.”
“Oh.”
“You can come with me then, but we’ll catch some food first; the fish are all scared away.”
“Okay then. I won’t get in your way.”
So they left to the forest nearby to hunt for a little. An hour later, they came back, with a deer, and some rats. They ate together, and the next morning set off for the mountain.

Chapter 2

The mountain loomed in the distance, casting a dark shadow over the valley beneath. The valley was where the two dragons, Shadowscar and Moonfang stopped for the night to hunt and rest. Shadowscar caught two deer, and gave one to Moonfang.
“Why do you want to go to this mountain anyway?” Moonfang asked Shadowscar.
“I’m not sure. I just feel drawn to it, you know, like it’s my destiny,” Shadowscar answered.
“Do you know what’s up there?”
A castle and some dead trees were barely visible, but Shadowscar’s keen eyes spotted them.
“A castle, some dead trees…A whole load of darkness.” He answered.
“No, your so-called destiny,” Moonfang said.
“Oh, erm…I don’t know, I just…Want to go there.”
They ended their conversation silently to eat their deer, and went to drink from a lake nearby. Some large willow trees hung their branches over the still lake. The two dragons left bones of their deer, and climbed up the trunks of the trees, and slept, although it was unnatural for them to sleep at night.

Shadowscar woke to the sound of birds. It was early morning, and he knew that he should continue his journey to the dark mountain with Moonfang. Moonfang. Where was he? Shadowscar glanced at the tree beside him, only to see branches and birds. He must have gone hunting. Shadowscar thought. He gazed up towards the shadowy mountain, guessing how long it would take to get there from where he was. He suddenly noticed a small figure, flying towards the peak of the mountain. Then, as Shadowscar focused his eyes more onto the object, he notice that there were more, and also that one of them was a metallic blue colour…Moonfang!
Shadowscar suddenly leapt into the air, flying at an amazing speed towards the dragon-like figures.
I must get there!
He was getting closer, close enough to see that there were three dragons, four including Moonfang. Apart from Moonfang, all of the dragons seemed to be ice, but with black legs, tail and head. They were forcing Moonfang to fly towards the mountain, and Shadowscar noticed that there was a chain around him, tying Moonfang to the other dragons so that he was unable to get away. Shadowscar was tiring, finding it hard to fly. But still, he pushed himself, forcing him to keep pace. He had now gotten close enough to slightly hear what they were saying; “We could do better that this, but I guess Master will be pleased,” And to Moonfang; “Stop moving, or I’ll pull the chains harder!”

Shadowscar really felt his wings get sore, losing the ability to fly silently. The dull roar of wind whipping mini cyclones around him was deafening, cutting out all other sounds. He found it really hard to keep pace now; he wasn’t a good speed-flyer, better at distance. Suddenly, one of the dragons glanced behind, and saw Shadowscar. It turned to the dragon next to it, said something, and flew downwards, where a few more dark dragons were guarding the long path to the castle, mounted on top of the mountain.
Those dragons now started to flap their wings, and fly upwards, leaving one dragon behind. The two dragons, and Moonfang, were still headed towards the castle.
If there is a fight, I can’t win, but I can’t run either. Shadowscar thought.

Meanwhile, the five dragons below were gaining height, a hundred metres below, ninety metres…
They were now level with Shadowscar, their leader giving out orders to the others. One darted at Shadowscar. Shadowscar was too tired to move, and got a hard blow to his chest. Shadowscar fought back, reaching his jaws out to try and grasp onto something. He felt warm blood in his mouth, as he bit into one of the dragon’s throats. Suddenly, one kicked Shadowscar in the back. A third then tore a hole in Shadowscar’s wing, making him fly unevenly.
Then, a tail was whipped at his head. It was too much; Shadowscar gave up flying, and fell to the ground with a thud.

Chapter 3

Shadowscar woke with blood seeping from his mouth. One of his fangs had been knocked out, and his wing was also bleeding from a rip.
Where am I?
Shadowscar looked around. He was inside a dark, cold room, with a tiny window so that he could see around. He stood up, and started to walk around, when he was suddenly restrained. He roared in anger, and suddenly heard voices outside the walls. They were barely hearable, but there was something about a ‘light’. A door in the shadows, that Shadowscar had not noticed before was swung open, and some large…apes came inside.
They unshackled Shadowscar without a word, and dragged him out the door.
Shadowscar stood up, and walked in pace with the apes. He was led down a hall, with many doors on either side of him. For a wile, the doors continued down the hallway, until there were no doors at all for a few minutes.
Then, a door was seen, and Shadowscar was pushed inside. An even larger ape was standing inside the room.
Seriously, what’s with the monkeys! Shadowscar thought, as he walked inside the room.
The other apes left, leaving Shadowscar alone with the big, important-looking monkey.
Another thing Shadowscar had noticed was that there was a beam of light, shining onto a large, flat crystal.
“Step onto the crystal,” Shadowscar was ordered by the ape. Shadowscar hesitantly did as he was told without argument, and stepped onto the crystal, and into the beam of light. The crystal was cold on his feet, and the light shone brightly onto Shadowscar. He felt stronger, and started to twitch all over. The power inside of him was ready to burst out. Shadowscar thought that he would explode! He got ready to walk off of the crystal platform, when he was yelled at by the ape to stay on the platform. So Shadowscar was tortures with limitless energy for an hour longer, when he was finally ordered by the big ape to step out of the platform.
“Do you feel strong?” The ape asked.
“Yes, I do.” Shadowscar answered.
“Good, now you can go outside, if you are supervised by Cynder.”
“Who’s Cynder?”
“Oh, you’ll know her,” The ape said, with a smirk on his face,” And also, I am Gaul, Master Gaul to you.”
So Shadowscar pounded down the hall, trying to work off some energy, when he crashed into something.
“WATCH IT!”

Description of Moonfang:
Moonfang is a metallic cyan colour, with large wings. His tail has a crescent moon shape on it, which lights the darkness. His horns are also a crescent shape, which glows like his tail. His crest is like many different colored lights, which dimly glow in the colours of the rainbow. Moonfang’s element is venom, which is like poison, but stronger. His fangs are poisonous, but not deadly. He is slightly smaller that Shadowscar.

(Haven’t thought about corrupted version yet)

Description of Shadowscar:
Normal
He is dark grey, but in moonlight he turns sparkling silver. He had large wings that he uses for absorbing energy from the moonlight. His tail blade is a lethal weapon; he whips it at enemies at a blinding speed. He has three scars on his eye, wounds from a battle with a dragon. Six spines are on his snout. His element is shadow. He uses melee attacks a lot stronger that elements. He is about twice as high as Spyro.

Ok, for those who like Moonfang, I'm sorry.

A large dark purple and crimson coloured dragoness was padding out of a room, and Shadowscar had rammed right into her leg.
“Who are you?” Shadowscar asked wearily.
“No one to you, get on with your work,” the dragoness answered bitterly.
“Okay then.” Shadowscar said, gloomily.
So Shadowscar continued down the hall, this time watching where he was going. Suddenly, a group of apes came speeding towards Shadowscar, yelling “RUN!”
Shadowscar ignored the apes, and curiously walked towards the room that the stupid, clumsy monkeys had run from.
He stalked to the doorway, and slightly poked his head inside, only to be met with a fury of fire.
A cyan-coloured dragon stood before Shadowscar, Moonfang.

CHAPTER 4

“Moonfang!” Shadowscar exclaimed, still recovering from the shock of the burst of fire. Shadowscar had forgotten all about Moonfang during his capture, and now he remembered.
“Shadowscar?” Moonfang said, seemingly puzzled, “is that really you?”
“Yes, of course it is, you can’t even remember me?” Shadowscar said, confused that Moonfang didn’t recognize him.
“Well, I remember you, just not…recognize.”
“Why?” Shadowscar asked, even more confused.
“Look in the water.” Moonfang said.
There was indeed a small puddle of water, right at his feet. It was dirty, but good enough for Shadowscar to see the sharp spines protruding from his snout, and the needle-like fangs sticking out from his mouth.
Suddenly, some creatures, mostly stupid primates, rushed into the small, cold room. With them was the large dragoness that Shadowscar had encountered before. “Capture it!” Shadowscar heard the ape named Gaul command.
“Who?” Shadowscar asked frantically, hoping it wasn’t him, or Moonfang. Then, Shadowscar suddenly noticed a dead dragon, lying in the darkest corner of the room.
“Moonfang, did you…” Shadowscar asked, devastated, and unable to finish the sentence.
“I’m sorry, Shadowscar, I didn’t mean to. It just attacked me. I didn’t know what to do!” Moonfang said, defensively.
“Dragons are important, I need them for my army, take him away!” Gaul ordered. But Moonfang didn’t agree. He lashed out at the monkeys, killing many of them.
“I can fight too,” Shadowscar said, joining in the fight. Shadowscar sank his fangs into the enemies; he had never felt so angry in his life. He lashed at them with his tail, now with dozens of poisonous spines on the tip.
His wings protected him from most heavy blows from the big monkeys, but he could hardly feel the small ones scratching at his metal-hard scales.
Then, the dragoness joined the battle, as did Gaul. Cynder, take the grey one. I’ll handle the other one. Shadowscar fought with all his strength, trying to emerge victorious, but so did the dragoness, now known as Cynder.
But Shadowscar noticed that Cynder hesitated every time she attacked. It didn’t matter to Shadowscar, now, the only thing that mattered was winning the battle.
Cold breeze swept into the room, making Shadowscar shiver. Wait, a breeze? He thought. So he turned his head towards it, and to see a large hole was smashed into the wall, overlooking a dark valley. If I can get out there, it’s my advantage, Shadowscar thought. So he decided to leap out the hole.
A leap to freedom.
The wind swept under his silent wings, and the moonlight shone onto his body, making him gleam silver. It was only three-quarter moon, though not at its brightest.
Whoosh. Whoosh.
Shadowscar heard the wing-beats of a dragon right behind him. He turned his head towards the sound, to see Cynder following behind him. Then, a wave of ear came over him, unexpectedly. He was paralyzed, not being able to fly. He was diving towards the ground at high speed.
Just as he was about to hit the ground below, he was freed of the power that held him. He opened his wings outward like an eagle, and cold air rushed under them, instantly lifting Shadowscar away from the ground.
Shadowscar glided on the thermals, drifting through the dark clouds, completely forgetting about Cynder.
Shadowscar suddenly felt a stinging pain in his wing, and turned to see Cynder.
Also the blood on his wing. Another tear was made in his left wing. It was slowly getting bigger, due to the wind blowing on it. He had to take shelter, but where? The only place to go was to the castle, the valley below was bare; no trees, or even grass to hide in.
So Shadowscar quickly maneuvered so that he was facing towards the cold, dark castle. He glanced at his wing, and realized that the castle was his only choice. He sped past Cynder, flying as fast as his wing would allow him to.
Then, a sudden, painful shriek was heard from the castle. One word formed in Shadowscar’s mind; Moonfang.

Shadowscar flew faster than ever before, not forgetting about his wing, just not caring about it.
I would give up flying for a friend, Shadowscar thought.
He was almost at the castle now, and also his wing was getting worse every metre that he flew.
Finally, it seemed like a lifetime before he got there, but he arrived at the castle. Shadowscar skillfully leapt from the air through the hole in the wall, and into the cold, empty castle.
“Moonfang!” Shadowscar exclaimed in horror.
There, in the middle of the room, was Moonfang, lying on his side. No one else was in the room, except for them both, and the dragon body that Moonfang had killed.
“Moonfang,” Shadowscar whispered into the darkness, as he mournfully walked up to the dragon.
Shadowscar listened for a heartbeat. And, by a miracle, he heard a faint beating in Moonfang’s chest. Shadowscar nudged Moonfang awake.
Moonfang mumbled a little, and slowly opened his large, blue eyes. “Shadowscar, what are you doing?” He asked, in a faint voice.
“Are you okay?” Shadowscar asked, ignoring Moonfang’s question.
“Erm…No, not really,” Moonfang answered. He turned over a little, to reveal a huge gash in his side. “I won’t survive, not for long.”
“It’s my entire fault! If I didn’t have to come to this place, you would be alive, and happy!” Shadowscar blamed himself.
“No. It’s not your fault. It’s no one’s fault.”
Suddenly, Cynder interrupted the conversation, by gliding in through the wall.
“Get lost, you brute!” Shadowscar angrily yelled at Cynder.
“I’m…Sorry.” Cynder said, seemingly sad.
“No you’re not! Get out! GO AWAY!” Shadowscar yelled, infuriated. He leapt at Cynder, finding an inner strength, powered by anger.
Cynder was blown away by the strength, and was knocked out the hole in the wall.
“That’s her gone,” Shadowscar said, a tiny bit relieved.
“Shadowscar, I will die, but because I am a spirit dragon, I can pass on my life to another.” Moonfang whispered weakly.
“You won’t die!” Shadowscar choked out, both angry and sad.
“I am going to die, but all I ask of you is to let me die happily.” Moonfang faintly whispered, getting weaker.
“If you’re going to die, then I’m dying with you!” Shadowscar announced. He charged into the wall, smashing his head against the stone. He grabbed a pointed stone, and hit it against his head.
“Shadowscar, stop!” Cynder had flown back into the room.
“Why? Moonfang is my only friend, the one thing I live for! I will die for him, to be with him forever!”
“Shadowscar, you will join me, when your time here is expired, but that is not now. Go, and live your life, but live it happily. Goodbye.”
As Moonfang’s last breath of cold air evaporated, he slowly faded away, closing his eyes. Forever.

CHAPTER 5

“No, Moonfang!” Shadowscar sobbed, ignoring Cynder standing nearby. Shadowscar smacked his head against the wall, over and over again, despite Cynder’s pleas for him to stop.
“I don’t deserve to live! A life for a life! It’s my fault he died; now it’s my turn.” Shadowscar rammed into the wall one last time, and fell to the ground.
