If you wanna enjoy the story more, get ANB, then TEN, then DotD. Or, get them all, and play them in order.
If you can only pick between ANB and TEN, TEN is the better game (better conbat and bosses, more variety, puzzles and platforming), but is much harder than ANB. ANB pretty much feels like a tutorial for TEN. EL made some drastic changes in DotD compared to the formula Krome had, but I thought it was the best out of them despite that, as it felt more "planned".

ANB and TEN are both very different to DOTD, just so you know, but they're very similar to eachother. TEN is harder and longer (oo-er), but ANB has better boss fights. You can get them pretty cheap on eBay, Amazon or Play.com, though, so it's a good idea to get both but play ANB first.

Yeah, I agree with you guys. TEN is better, but you should play them in order. Otherwise, you would get confused on the plot.

ANB has more variety. I love the Flight Stages and Cart Stage. But TEN is much more challenging which is good because ANB is really easy.
Before everybody seemed to prefer ANB and now everybody likes it and I now prefer ANB and just like TEN. ._. |

I felt TEN had more general variety, meaning it wasn't just "fight, fight, fight". That's what ANB felt like to me, other than the flying and mine cart.

In my opinion, TEN is better. it's definitly harder but the story is deeper and more interesting to me. I would suggest that one. plus it ends with a beautifully touching song.

I prefer ANB because the first half is pretty decant. The first half had a light hearted atmosphere, which reminded me of the originals. And Spyro in that game had more of a personality than what he did in TEN and DotD. And I liked Dark/Evil/Adult Cynder. She made a better villain than Malefor. Seriously, they should have just made her the main villain for the whole trilogy.

For a beginner ANB, it's not as hard as TEN, in my opinon, TEN starts off hard, and you need to know at least some sense of the controls and what it's like, plus you may wants to understand the story from the beginning.

Krome does seem to explain the story more in TEN I agree on that one.
DOTD's story is random to me, lol. |

I found TEN's story so confusing to the point that I just couldn't be bothered to follow it. And DOTD's story was also confusing due to all the plotholes.

In my opinion, Story = Yes, Gameplay = No. Well for ANB, Story = A bit slow, Gameplay = Not bad. For TEN, Story = A lot more interesting, Gameplay = Didn't like it at all. |

You should get Spyro The Eternal Night, I believe it's wayyyyyyy better than A New Beginning.

I found them all easy to follow, even though DotD has a few little plotholes. But I find TEN's story to be very thought provoking. It feels just as good as a storyline from Final Fantasy, and it isn't near as long!
It was also my first LoS game. I also find DotD's story to be somewhat thought provoking.

Get A New Beginning. It was the freshest game of the trilogy, and I still find it to be the most fun. TEN has way too many bugs, especially with the camera controls. If the game didn't have those it would've been better. <.<;

A New Beginning is probably the best one out of the three, I must admit when I was first playing it, I did find it fresh, but towards the end it began to get boring. It is the one with the less glitches, but I find that the story isn't as good and drags out a bit, where as with The Eternal Night, for me, the only thing that is good is the story.
