You don't need specailist knowledge to find out the size of your avatar.

You can try compressing it. I don't have anything to recommend for this... But avoid WinRAR! Its compression is terrible, at least with videos!

Save into either PNG or JPG format, these reduce the image size dramatically comparede to BMP.

PNG is massive in bytes and JPG varies. Try using a Online editor and convert it to GIF |

sighhhhhhhh
Alright, bytes is a basic unit that describes memory on the computer, just like centimeters or inches are units of distance. 1 Kilobyte = 1000 bytes. 1 Megabyte = 1000 kilobytes. etc. So any file on your computer is composed of these units. It's merely a description of the file size. So if your avatar is over the limit, that means that your picture file is too large (not necessarily physical size of the picture, but size of the file) to be included into your avatar. There are many ways to reduce the size of your picture file. The two most common ways are: 1) shrink the picture or 2) decrease the quality of the picture. Any image program (or online imaging programs) can accomplish this. Make sure you read the rules on the file size limit for an avatar on these forums.
