Augmented reality is a term for a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input, such as sound or graphics.
It is what the Itoy (PS2) and Kinect (Xbox) do. It takes an object that it reconizes and puts a new object on that ot uses it for a refrence point.
It is what the many web cam apps do, I think there are a few for mobile phones too.
Because Skylander is going to use it, it may mean that it if you don't have the toys that it comes with, you may not be able to play the game correctly. If the toys are "Smart", then losing a toy equalls losing ALL the data that comes with it.
As well, If they went for an augmenmted reality portion of the game, you might get to use you hands, face, the toys, or all three. I'll give them credit if they incorporate that.
Good or bad it will be fun to watch.
