Despite Toothless having the most powerful fire(purple) mixed with the hottest(white), I think that Spyro would win. He has a wider range of attacks in all games.

Meh, Toothless is very speedy, but has to now rely on human help for him to fly and turn and stuff. Spyro may be smaller and less muscular, but his wide variety of magic definitely gives him some leverage against that. Plus Spyro has his dark form when he gets really angry and still has fury power too. I think spyro has the advantage here.

It depends on if it's LoS or Classic Spyro.

If it's Classic, then Toothless would win.

If it's LoS, then Spyro would win since he has fury and Convexity.

It would still be a tough fight.

well, that's not entirely true. I mean, it is quite hard to see a Night Fury in human eyes, but you never know for a dragon.
Another thing is the attack variety. For Toothless, you can expect Convexity Fireballs after a few turns, meanwhile for Spyro it could be Fire, Ice, Electricity, Earth, or Convexity/Fury attacks.
Spyro is also smaller, and that makes a more difficult target for ranged attacks.
The time of day could play a difference. It would be quite easy to spot a black Night Fury in the middle of the day. The light casts shadows, everything is colorful, and black stands out. In the night, you still have the problems with the shadows, but other than that it could be hard to see Toothless. (I'm no dragon, so I can't tell you)

As much as I love Toothless, I'm going with Spyro.

No actually Toothless could have a kind of invisible cloak ability like latios and latias it's something to do with the light.

Spyro can also swim but it seems Toothless would be quite a slow swimmer due to all of its fins...

Well... does it really seem that toothless has an invisibility cloak. Couldn't he have used it during the boss fight at the end of the movie? well... maybe the time of day and everything might've had something to do with that. Okaay I give up on this arguement. Has anyone seen the Avatar Last Airbender Chibi Short "Bender Battle?" It has a funny ending I will quote with spyro and toothless.
"Now, we can all see that each dragon has it's own strengths and weaknesses...

Toothless is bigger, and his flame is more powerful, but he seems rather slow, and (sorry) not as intellagent in a lot of ways.
Spyro seems a lot faster, and has a much wider range of attacks (ice, electricity, earth, and fire), and his a bit smarter.

But that's probably just because I like Spyro more than Toothless

yea but toothless is a better flyer and he can go faster. toothless and spyro has some number of blasts, so when they run out toothless and use his sharp like teeth to ripe spyro apart.

Another thing, doesn't Toothless need a human for him to fly? That would be a bit of an inconvenience, now wouldn't it?
