It confuses me how in the classic games sparx has health. If someone punches Spyro, sparx loses health. It DOES SNOT COMPUTE!

Because, the Dragons and Dragonflies connect their health in order to make fighting more convenient just like in Eregon with the human-dragon connection. Insomniac predicted this connection and put in their game before Eregon was even thought of.

This is 100% fact

With sparx, Spyro takes like 5 hits. Without him, BAOM! One hit and he dies.

But Sparx is simply a indicator of Spyro's power to create more convenient fighting situations.

Basically, Sparx absorbs the damage Spyro would take, but once Spyro hasn't got him, he takes the damage and dies. It's probably just a joke the put there on purpose.

Spyro is 5 times weaker than a DRAGONFLY. Wow.

Like I said, it's probably a joke. But...

VIDEO GAME LOGIC. 8D 'Cause it makes sense:

In Classic, Sparx takes all the hits for Spyro because he's so weak.

In LoS, Spyro takes all the damages and Sparx just floats around craking jokes.

It's kinda like payback. Sparx got tired of being pushed around and instead makes fun of Spyro while he gets beat up.

Classic Spyro isn't weak. Sparx is just the health meter. I think it's clever, not the boring bar.

Yep, same here. Sparx is an interesting health bar, like the suit of Isaac Clark's showing his health level. No more boring health bars in HUD!

I liked the fact that Sparx was a health indicator, made it more interesting. Even though I did used to question it, and I could never understand why or how Sparx could take damage, but then again the storylines in the Classic games weren't all that great anyway, but it never bothered me that much because of how fun the games are. Really, it's just a game, you shouldn't use too much logic into it.
