Chapter 1: The Mysterious Creature
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a small house by the country road, lied three girls in the night. They where Monica the Cat, Floral the Fox, and Dazzle the Rabbit. That night, Dazzle's throat was dry, so she got up for a drink of water. She sat up to rub her eye, and walked to the kitchen. She saw a shadow move on the wall. "Monica? Floral?" she called. "Is that you? Ah, I must be seeing things... It's the middle of the night." She walked into the kitchen, and heard a thump. She ignored it, and drank her water. When she came out of the kitchen, she saw the same shadow zip by. She stopped dead on her tracks, and looked around. She walked again, and heard creaking on the floorboards. She looked behind her, and she saw a dark figure standing behind her. "Monica?" she asked. "Fl-Floral??" Suddenly, the figure reached down, and bit into Dazzle's neck.
"Help!" she cried. The figure had sharp fangs, and when it was done, it jumped out the window, and vanished into the darkness. Dazzle just sat there with a confused and scared look on her face. Then Monica came out with a candle in her hand. "Dazzle, what's wrong?" she asked. Dazzle replied with a shuttering voice, "Just... Just a nightmare... I-I'll be fine." "Are you sure?" asked Monica. "I'm sure," said Dazzle. "You have two small blood spots on your neck, Dazzle," said Monica. Dazzle's eyes widen, and she got on her feet. "Whoa, whoa, there, what are you talking about?" she asked, as she put her hand on her neck, and looked at it. Her eyes widen again. "You're right," she said. "What's all the yelling about?" asked Floral, as she yawned and came out of the room. "It's nothing, Floral," said Monica. "Dazzle, you and I can discuss this tomorrow after soccer practice, OK? It's late, and we need to get back to bed." "Like I'm gonna get any sleep NOW," complained Dazzle. "Oh, come on," said Monica as she grabbed Dazzle's arm and ran into bed. Floral shrugged, and went to bed as well.
Meanwhile, out in the dark...
The sun was beginning to rise a few hours later. While the soft beams of the sun's rays where coming out, a red hedgehog ran across a field of flowers. He ran as fast as he could. Just as the sun came up, he jumped into a cave, and out of the light. Panting, he sat down on the floor. "Blade!" called out a voice. Out came another red hedgehog. "Blade!" she said running to the red hedgehog. He got up. "What is it, mom?" "You're almost late for the meeting of the vampires!" "Mom, I told you," said Blade, who was the hedgehog running through the field of flowers. "I'm not going to the meeting this year. All it is is the same ol' speech... And I'm staying home this time." "Blade," said Blade's mother. "You're coming with, weather you like it or not. And you've been gone all night. Where have you been?!" "I've been looking for food," replied Blade. "And who says you can go out and do that without parent's permission?" asked Blade's mom, crossing her arms. Blade gave up, and went to the meeting.
After the meeting, Blade walked home. As he looked around a corner of the winding caves, he saw a vampire hedgehog sitting all alone on a bench. Blade stared at her, and got closer. "Hey," he said. "What are you doing here all by yourself when you should be getting ready for bed?" The hedgehog jumped, and looked at Blade with her big eyes. "Oh, I'm sorry," said Blade. "Did I startle you?" The hedgehog said nothing, and stared at Blade. Blade looked down at his big scar he had across his stomach. "Oh, that?" he asked. "I have no idea how that got there... But it's tender." The hedgehog still said nothing, and stood up. She walked right up to Blade. "You should go," she said quietly. "Huh?" asked Blade. The girl said nothing else, and sat down. "Wait," said Blade. "Who are you?" The girl remained quiet, and stared at the floor. Blade stared at her, and walked home. "What a weird night," he thought to himself. "The victim I had for blood was such a screamer. And that vampire on the bench... What's her story?" All these thoughts where running through Blade's head as he finally got home. He jumped into bed, and fell asleep. These mysterious creatures who lived in the dark where vampires.
