Ch.1- ~The Hunt~

The still, calm night was disrupted by the thunder of hoof beats. An eerie mist shrouded the forest as a group of distraught knights made their way down a winding path, the light of their torches cast a bright glow on all in their way. The horses slowed their pace as the fog got thicker, limiting their view. At the head of the search party, trotted a pitch black horse, and mounted on it sat a large imposing man, clad in deep red armor. His short, blue hair waved slightly with the wind. "Where is that worthless beast....," he cursed under his breath. The "beast" they were searching for was actually a young male Laguz or a "Sub-Human" as their often referred too. Being able to transform into Animals, the Beorcs (humans) feared, and hated them. The young Laguz they were searching for possessed a strange forbidden power, the details were...unreliable due to so many conflicting reports. Some said he could create Monsters out of nothing and commanded them to kill everything in sight. Some said he could transform into anything, and used this power to kill and take on the form of what he killed, luring his next victim to their death.....but no one knew for sure. "W-what if...it’s watching us right now.....waiting.....for....o-one of us....to fall behind," a shaking Knight said looking around frantically. "Silence you fool......talk like that will get you killed," another snapped at him, even though he shared his fear. "Both of you, be quiet....lets return to camp, and report......he's not here," the leader said looking around, "He's long gone by now........". The mighty Black horse reared up and with a sharp whinny, it turned around and charged back the way they came, the leader taking one last look behind them, searching in the darkness. He dreaded what their failure of capturing the Laguz would bring.

The other chapters are a lot longer........Hope you enjoy :3

Ch.2- ~Bird Meets Wolf~

High above the treetops a gentle breeze blew, rustling the leaves and creating a soothing sound, almost like a lullaby. Drifting on the soothing currents flew an abnormally large Albino Falcon. His eyes were a clear blue, almost white, and hanging from his neck was an Eagle pendant, crafted from Gold and Safire. He had regal air to him as he flew with purpose, searching for something, or someone. A gust of wind brushed his face, and he closed his eyes in content, “It’s so calm here, almost too calm………,” he said scanning the forest again with unease. It had been quite some since the Kingdom of Daein crowned their new queen. Her name was Micaiah, an extraordinary light Mage who lead a band of freedom fighters against the concurring Begnion Empire, and with much help, won back Daein.

The Falcon drifted on, the events of previous years heavy on his mind. Looking onward he started searching desperately, “Please say Wolf and Cera are ok……please don’t say they’re hurt….please,” He muttered to himself, shifting his gaze to the sky, “If I could only spot Lance………he couldn’t…..be that hard to …..See……,” He said squinting in the horizon. Just as he was about to call in a sacred hum, he felt a large, blunt pain in his side. It coursed through his body and flapping his wings in a figure eight, he managed to float backwards, keeping his altitude loss to a minimum. With anger in his eyes he turned to face the way it came from, screeching as he turned.

Standing in a small clearing stood a purple haired man, not much more then 18 years old. His hair hung over his right eye slightly; on the side of his head he had slight sideburns, making his face oddly wolf-like. His eyes were a brighter purple in comparison to his hair. He wore standard horseman equipment, lacking much armor at all. Strapped to his back was a small yet powerful bow; engraved in its surface was the name “Wolfeye.” Hanging from his side was a large sword; its handle decorated with wolf related markings and engraved in its blade was the name “Wolfbain.” At first sight he looked like a normal beorc, until you noticed his long purple wolf tail swaying from side to side. “Zephyr, I’ve been looking everywhere for you,” He smirked, dropped the stones he was holding and crossed his arms, “You had me so worried……..jeez you’re like a child….,” He said shaking his head. Zephyr flew down towards the man, “Wolf…thank god I found you,” He screeched.

Suddenly Zephyr was engulfed in light. His feathered head shifting slowly into a young humans face, his feathers on his head transformed into human hair, white as milk, about shoulder length. His face was soft, with gentle features, making him look younger then he really was. His body transformed also, so now all that remained from his Falcon form were his Eagle pendant, and Large, powerful wings, which as he floated towards the ground, folded gently against his back. He wore clothes similar to Wolf’s, but he wore steel toed boots, and a belt made of thick, silky fabric.

“Have you gotten shorter?” Wolf asked smirking as Zephyr landed gently in front of him. Zephyr laughed slightly, then shyed away, actually feeling shorter then he was yesterday. With a quick gasp he turned to Wolf, his voice deeper then what it was as a Falcon, “Have you seen Cera??” He asked, desperation in his voice. Wolf looked to the sky briefly and turning back to him said, “No………I was hoping you had…..I’m worried…..” Zephyr’s desperation turned to sheer panic, “NO….we have to look for her,” He said turning and before he could take flight Wolf Grabbed his arm. “Whoa there….calm down……I’m sure she’s fine…you need to stop being so overprotective..…your acting vary rashly,” Wolf said with a smile, “We’re talking about Cera……she may be the kindest girl you’ll ever meet….but she is very strong-willed…..stop worrying,” He said letting go of Zephyr’s arm. Zephyr looked at him as he bent down checking the ground to find a good place to start a campfire. He’s right, Zephyr thought, I’m sure Cera’s fine, stop worrying, He told himself as he took a deep breath. Wolf looked up, apparently finding the perfect spot, “We’ll camp here for tonight……….I’ll howl to alert Cera of our position.…you’ll see….she’ll be here in no time,” He said standing up and putting his hand on Zephyr’s shoulder. Zephyr nodded, “you better be right!” he teased and sat down on the cold ground, still unable to rid of his Worries. “Please be right……” he said too low to hear.

Ch.3-~On The Wing~

The sun slowly disappeared as the moon made is way higher into the stars, like a concurring general who just overthrew his enemy. Drifting on the cool, twilight breezes, glowing in the moonlight, flew a large, graceful Pegasus. His body was slightly different from most of his species, for instead of having a flexible, thin build, he was slightly stocky, with huge muscle mass. His mane and tail were a deep green, like the fields and forests that spanned below him. His body was covered with strange blue markings, which at night, flow as if they were made of water, and the moon was glaring on the smooth surface, illuminating them. On his head was a marking in the shape of a silver lance, and strangely enough it looked as if a ribbon hung from its shaft. The Pegasus wore white armor, the edges smoothed with gold, each piece of armor perfectly position to allow a smooth flow of movement. As he soared he closed his green eyes and let the moonlight soak his face.

Mounted on his back sat a thin, lean girl, with hair and eyes the matched his own. She had a kind face with soft features that betrayed a strong will burning inside. She wore brown fingerless gloves, the norm for Pegasus Knights, and she also wore brown leather boots, with white markings carved into the surface. She too was clad in white armor on her torso, and had a silken skirt around her waist, which was slightly short. Armor was also covering her long, white Leather pants, which usually Pegasus Knights left their lower bodies unarmored, for the enemy often aimed for the upper body. A beautiful blue Pegasus charm hung from her neck, and a large beautiful sword from her waist.

She looked around cautiously, searching for her companions. “Lance,” she said to the Pegasus, “Do you see Wolf, or Zephyr?” Worry flooded her eyes as Lance shook his head ‘No.’ Looking to the ground for a place to land, she spotted a bright light through the thick trees. Lance started to drift towards the light, and finding a hole in the tree cover, maneuver his way to the ground, landing with nary a sound. His large, fit muscles rippled as he landed, proving how much the Girl loved, and cared for him. Peeking around a bush, the girl looked for the source of the light, which happened to be a Knight who bared the Crimean crest.

Crimea was a loving country, and their queen always welcomed creatures of all types, the Knights were no exception. Lance slowly trotted forward, pushing through the bushes. The noise startled the Knight, and he turned to face them lifting his lantern to see, “Who-,” he stopped as Lance and His rider came into view. The Knight’s startled expression eased as he said with a calm, and kind, yet strong voice, “Who might you two be, I didn’t expect to see travelers,” he said questioning. “I am Cera, and this is Lance,” Cera said rubbing Lance on the neck. “I’m pleased to meet you,” The blue-haired Knight looked with a soft gaze and replied quite formally, “Geoffrey, General of the Crimean Royal knights at your service,” He said bowing slightly, “Welcome to Crimea, Cera.” Cera smiled at him and with excitement said, “Thank you, I’ve never been to Crimea, but I’ve always dreamed of it,” She said sliding off of Lance. Geoffrey also slide off of his horse and with a kind voice asked, “I know it’s none of my business, but may I ask what brings you to Crimea?” Cera smiled at him, “Well…..truly I didn’t mean to come to Crimea,” She paused, her face feeling hot with embarrassment, “I…..I lost my way…looking for my friends, you see we split up and…well it’s a long story.” Geoffrey smiled at her and looking around he said somberly, “Everyone gets lost once in a while; personally...…I’m horrible at directions,” he laughed and looked at Cera. Suddenly a long mournful howl rose up as if out of nowhere. Lance twitched his ears and Cera looked in the direction of the howl, Wolf, she thought excitedly, finally…I’ve found them, she thought to herself as she burned with excitement. Geoffrey became tense and as the howl resided, he picked up on how familiar it was to Cera, “You…..you know the wolf,” He pressed, “if so……I would be honored to escort you to him, a Knight could never let one wonder the forest at night.” Cera looked at him, her face beaming, She had never known this much kindness before from a stranger, let alone a Knight, Crimean Knights had much greater moral then most. “Thank you…so much,” She said nodding as she mounted Lance, who eagerly reared back, itching to reunite with the others. Geoffrey mounted his horse also, and with that the four sped off towards the direction of the howl.

As they continued down the long winding path, the forestry started to change greatly. The trees grew greatly in size, and the ground grew harder. “We’re entering Gallia, we need to be careful, there’s been a large amount of thieves lately, ruthless beasts,” He said with caution. Cera looked around, her thoughts whirling out of control, she had always dreamed of coming to Gallia also, it was all happening so fast she just wished she could stop a savor it. Struggling to push away her thoughts, she looked to Geoffrey, “Are…..are you always so…..Formal,” She asked, chuckling as she did. Geoffrey smiled and in an informative voice he said, “Well….I guess I’m just devoted to being a knight, you know, Valor and all that good stuff, but if you really knew me…I’m quite different…..not in a bad way,” He said trying not to laugh. Cera laughed, smiling, and gasped as Lance suddenly stopped, rearing up and with a loud thud as he hit the ground, he started tensing his muscles. Cera soothed him as Geoffrey stopped next to her, his horse pacing in place with sheer fear. “What’s wrong??” he asked as he stared into the darkness, fallowing Cera’s gaze.

Ahead of them stood a large group of Laguz, all were in human form. “Well, well…trespassers…..and rich-looking ones too,” He looked at the rest of the group. Their clothes were ragged, and their faces scarred, it wasn’t hard to see who they truly were. “Please, we mean no harm..,” Cera said gripping the reins tightly, and gritting her teeth. The group’s leader chuckled and walked forward, his long Lion-tail waving back and forth, and with a deep menacing voice he said, “Well……We do.” He jumped forward, causing Lance to jump backwards, and harsh light engulfed him as he transformed into a large black Lion. He roared a battle cry, and his underlings sprung forward, transforming into Monster-like Tigers, almost as big as Lance himself. “Attack, Take all they have!” he yelled in a freakishly deeper voice then before. Cera, in the blink of an eye, drew her sword and Lance reared back, flaring his large wings to intimidate the Beasts. Geoffrey shot forward to take the first blow from the mighty Lion as he shielded Cera who was being herded into a corner by the Tigers. The Lion missed right as his horse reared up, but without pausing, he struck the Horse square on the side, ripping flesh from its haunches. The horse collapsed and fled with all the strength it had left, like a gutless coward, it abandoned its master without thought. The Lion pinned Geoffrey to the ground, his hot breath powerful enough to rot plants as it stung his nose and eyes. Struggling to escape, he gripped his dropped lance, and like lightning struck the Lion in his side, barely making him falter. Cera and Lance meanwhile struggled as three tigers pinned them in against a group of trees, making escape impossible. “Geoffrey!!” She yelled as the Lion pushed him further into the dirt, covered in blood that seeped from the lance wound. Geoffrey took his lance, and with all of his power, he thrust it clean into the Lion’s chest. Cera slashed the tigers clean in the face with one well aimed cut, striking all three thanks to her swords length. The tigers ran like cowards back into the bushes, Cera jumped off Lance and rushed to the Lion, sword ready. The Lion gasped as his heart started failing, coughing up blood as his eyes rolled back into his head. Geoffrey, with one powerful push, shoved the limp body off of himself and Cera helped him up, searching him for injuries. The two stood staring at the limp body, gasping and shaken as they let out long sighs. “Are you Okay?” Cera asked concerned. Geoffrey smiled and shook his head, “and you?” he said shaking. Cera smiled also, “I’m fine…I’m so sorry I was so worthless, as I watched you stare death in the face, I could’ve done something,” She looked to the ground, clearly ashamed. “Cera…..its okay….what could you have possible done...I never expected thieves…I should’ve been the one helping you,” He said as he put his hand on her shoulder. Lance walked up and put his head under Cera’s arm. Cera smiled at Geoffrey and turned, hugging Lance. With a jolt Geoffrey thought of his horse, “No... Nero!” He called desperately. His Horse appeared from behind some bushes, his side drenched in blood. Geoffrey and Cera rushed up to him and Cera inspected the wound, “Amazingly….they’re not deep scratches, with some bandages and ointment, he should be fine,” She said turning to Geoffrey. “Thank you so much Cera..,” He said comforting the horse as Cera fumbled through a bag for bandages and ointment. Grabbing what she needed she went to work, “I would never hesitate to help those in need,” She said smiling. After her intensive work she stood up, “He’s fine…just shaken…..I’m sure he can walk,” She rubbed his side, saying something to low to hear. “Thank God,” Geoffrey said as he rubbed Nero on the head, “If he’s ok…..then…shall we continue to your companions,” He said smiling as he rubbed the horse. Cera nodded and walked side by side with Geoffrey and Lance, Geoffrey walked next to Nero, and the traumatized four made their way through the breaking dawn, the sun welcoming the tired animals, and the start to a new day.
