Big enemies in Glimmer [CLOSED]
Forwarrd101 Ripto Gems: 14
#1 Posted: 23:15:26 01/01/2011 | Topic Creator
I recently bought a brand new Spyro game, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage
And this game is pissing me off, cause, well, I can't seem to be able to fight the larger characters in the first level known as Glimmer. There are these big brown enemies and I charge them like 3 or 4 times and then won't die! But I got good at charging right on to them without getting hit, so I think I'm a pretty average player. I really need help; I tried everything. I tried charging, spitting rocks at them, and even flying into them! Please, anyone. If I can't figure out this crap, I'm breaking my game then selling it on Craigslist. There will be no point for me to advance in this damn game. Regards!!!

I tried breathing fire, but when I do I'm scared of getting hit by them and I turn away real quick, I think I miss them. Ok, I'll try that!
Darby Platinum Sparx Gems: 5738
#5 Posted: 23:28:31 01/01/2011
Yeah, you can't kill them otherwise, because fire breath is the only way to defeat them

Big Enemies=Fire
Smaller Enemies=Fire or Charge

But I tried charging them about 5o times each. I'm pretty you you would rather get flamed on once then to be charged 50 times!
Darby Platinum Sparx Gems: 5738

Haha, true, but no amount of charging kills the larger enemies sadly, so you've got to fire them :3

Idk man. It's is a bit risky because I can kill off Sparx (the dragonfly following me around). And if I do this I will have to use that hack where you keep collecting ladybugs for butterflies. I'd rather just keep charging them or I can try to headbash (you probably don't know what that is). I will keep trying! Thx for trying to help me! :-)
Darby Platinum Sparx Gems: 5738
#9 Posted: 23:42:02 01/01/2011
That's not a hack.. you're supposed to get the butterflies from the ladybugs. Out of curiosity, have you played a Spyro game before? If you get hit a few times and Sparx dies, it's fine. Just fire the enemy and he'll die. :3

I don't think he has... Since the introduction to the charging and flaming was made in Spyro the Dragon.

I don't know dude, head bashing sounds too risky. Besides, you can't unlock the head bash technique until later in the game.

Just keep charging at them, it might work.

No I never played this before. Just for a day, but it is impossible for me to get past these things. And I believe it is a hack because the ladybugs keep coming back. And when I kill a purple enemy, it doesn't come back unless you reload the game! Learn to read my comments, guys!

Maybe you should've bought the first game, Spyro the Dragon and played through it, before you bought Ripto's Rage, since Ripto's Rage is the sequel to Spyro the Dragon.

And why are you afraid to flame enemies when it's obvious that you can't beat them by charging? The answer was right in front of you.

Seriously? If you can't beat them by charging, flame them. If you can't beat them by flaming, charge them. That's how it's done.

Don't blame the game, blame yourself for not trying..

The ladybug think isn't a hack. That's the life system.

Sparx is your life meter
Ladybugs are extra hit points.

Learn to read the game's manual or listen to the dialogue in the game.

I don't have much time for reading, I'm busy on the computer playing some other games. I'm trying to flame these guys but it is not working! Do you think that I should sell this game on Craigslist if I'm not going to play it. This game is very difficult for me, I don't think it's my thing.

*faceplam* You're not trying... or you are a troll.
Flame them and they die. Itt's simple. Easy. Works everytime.
Wouldn't it make sense to know how the game works first before playing it?

Forward101, you can't beat all the enemies by just flaming them. You have to charge them too.

You're only making the game difficult because you're afraid to even try charging at enemies that can be defeated by charging. Either you're stubborn to look at the manual for directions or you're too afraid to even try the charging method, and deem the game useless just because you didn't bother trying.

Ok, I will try this. But I know that some enemies can't be flamed because I watched my brother play it and he got confused as well. I am willing to try new techniques but I doubt they will work because we all know that charging them numerous times drains health and I believe they will die easily.

If enemies can't be beaten by flame, charge them.

You have already told me this, I don't think it will work! Then how come for the other purple enemies I can both charge and flame them? I can test this because they cannot hurt me.

Here's an alternative; just avoid them. If you really are struggling to flame these enemies then it's probably best just to go around them. You don't need defeat all the enemies to beat the level anyway.

Good luck.

Jeeze, you guys are jerks.

Forwarrd101, here's what I do/did with larger enemies that scared me:

Approach the enemy a bit slowly and wait for him to make his attack (usually he will do it when you're just barely out of range so you won't get hit). The minute he lifts his weapon, run closer and flame him.

You can't kill big enemies with a charge, you will always have to flame them. Just watch what they do and learn their attack patterns and that will help. Once you learn their tricks, the big guys are easy to handle. smilie

Here's how I flame my large enemies to kill them: Don't walk up and stop walking to flame. Just keep walking, and press circle. The Large enemies are slow, and chances of them hitting you while you walk straight up to them to flame is 3 to 50. You're gonna have to get used to flaming for the bosses. ^-^ Plus, if they do hit you, don't run- Flame as soon as Spyro gets up, and you should be fine.

Welcome to the world of gaming! smilie

Yes there are cheats to gain abilities without progressing through all the levels but there is no reason to resort to cheat codes.

I know it sucks but you can only learn to climb once you reach the second home world, meaning you won't be able to fully complete this level at this point in time.

You just have to come back to the level once you have learned how to climb from Moneybags. I guess the developers wanted the players to play through there levels more than once to make it last longer.

It's fun to figure the puzzles out for yourself sometimes. Even if it takes forever and is frustrating, the satisfaction of having solved the puzzle without help from the internet is half the fun. Try and explore a little more and if you're still lost and frustrated, then come back and ask. Trust me, it'll make the game a lot more fun. :)

And remember, there's no need to figure everything out the first time around; you can always go back to any level later.
