AKA Burning Gnorc's ummpteenth Gnasty topic. Seriously, he's been inactive for six years now, and there's still stuff to be dug up.

I've just noticed the villainry set-up in the older Spyro games. While Ripto is the bi-word for recurring annoyance, Gnasty is the bi-word for gratious cameos, having been mentioned out of the main story context in Year of the Dragon, Enter the Dragonfly, Season of Ice(!), Fusion and Shadow Legacy (although nearly every villain got one in SL). So, the question; what do you think made the developers so ready to keep in a cameo position for so long as opposed to the scrap heap of rarely mentioned like the Sorceress and Elora?

And what made Sgt Byrd and Agent 9 such stand outs against the other friends in YotD?

Basically a cameo discussion, and who you'd want to cameo more. Just not said in that way...

I haven't played through StD or YotD so I can't really say, but I assume the reason why Gnasty was referenced so much was just because he was the initial villain that Spyro overcame. As for Sgt Byrd and Agent 9, I wouldn't know.

It's like saying why Bowser is mentioned alot in Mario but not Wort.

Wart's totally irrelevant to everything though. If I'm not mistaken, he wasn't even originally a Mario character. And the game he appears in was all just a dream anyway. He's had quite a few references for what he was, including Wart Jr in Animal Crossing.
