It was midnight. On a large plain atop a plateau, with a lake in its centre, many dragons slept. The Boulder Opal Dragons. It was a peaceful night, and the moon hung overhead. Auron awoke to a huge crash. Her mother and father jerked awake, as well as Northa, her foster sister.
"Mother! Father!" Auron cried, dashing around blindly in the dust and smoke.
"Auron! Get close!" she heard her father yell, and he appeared through the haze. Northa ran to Auron's mother. A great shadow passed overhead, and a large, black dragon swooped down at her mother.
"ALECTO!" her father cried, and he ran to his wife.
"So... You're pretty for a Boulder Opal..." the Black Dragon hissed, circling around Auron's mother.
"STAY AWAY FROM HER!" her father called, gaining speed.
"I have no need for you." the dragon hissed, and he flicked his tail at Auron's father.
"Amycus!" Alecto cried, and she tryed to run foreward. The dragon stopped her, by tethering her by her tail. By then, Auron realised that Northa was cowering between Alecto's legs. She ran foreward, but she stopped as three large, metal plated Quetzalcoatls swooped in front of her.
"Northa! Take the stone, and run!" Amycus yelled, throwing a white, egg-shaped crystal at Auron. She caught it, and continued to stare at her family.
"RUN!" Amycus yelled, and reluctantly, she ran like she ha never ran before.
"AFTER HER!" the dragon ordered, and the three Quetzalcoatls gave chase. They were faster then regular Quetzalcoatls, and were more air resistant. Auron took off, into the sky, and the Quetzalcoatls followed.
Suddenly, a blast of Shadow hit Auron, as the black dragon shot a huge beam. She screamed, but managed to stay airborne. She flew for ages, she didn't know how long. Suddenly, a storm of metal feathers. Auron managed to dodge them, and the Quetzalcoatl zoomed past. It made impact with the ground, and in a terrible crack, the Quetzalcoatl's spine was severed. Another Quetzalcoatl repeated the attack, sword-like feathers zooming by. Auron caught as many as she could. As the beast zoomed past, she latched onto the monster's head, and pulled off the forehead and cheek plates, before flying off. It shrieked in pain, and crashed into the ground, suffering the same fate as the first Quetzalcoatl. Only one remained.
Auron couldn't take it anymore. Her wings were in agony. She swooped down, and fell between a crack in the rock. She hit the side, being knocked uncontious. She landed at the bottom, in a shallow river. The quetzalcoatl shrieked, and tried to wedge its snout in the crevece, though failing.
