The first time I heard him I did, but I can understand him now.

I forget who, but somebody on here has a link to their YouTube channel. One of their videos has a chipmunk version of the cutscene when Spyro and Cynder first confront Malefor face to face, and Malefor's voice is actually a whole lot more understandable in chipmunk form.

Seriously, do you guys even know who Mark Hamil is in the voice acting world? Here's a hint: he was the freaking JOKER! Yes, Batman's Joker. That's his most famous role, but he's also well known for dozens of other great cartoon and game voices. In case you're new to animation and missed Batman, he's also Fire Lord Ozai in Avatar: the Last Airbender.

The only reason he sucks as Malefor is because some idiot in post production decided it was a good idea to pitch shift his voice through Hell and back so you need subtitles on to understand what he's saying. In the single clip we have of him voicing Malefor before his audio was edited into a festering pile of crap, he's pretty awesome.

I knew he was the Joker!

I liked the direction for Malefor's voice, but there was no reason to hire Mark Hamill if his voice was going to be so distorted. They could of just got anybody. Heck, I could do it!

I had no idea that Mark Hamil was the joker. I love the Joker.

Hee, for a change, we actually agree on something sonicbrawler182. Chris Wilson should've just done the voice himself for as much as they mangled it in post.

Though, to be fair, there was no direction of the voice actors in the LoS series. The good performances are usually a result of the actors themselves knowing what they're doing (which is why Cree Summer, Mae Whitman, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Mark Hamil all turn in such stellar performances when compared with inexperienced voice performers like Wayne Brady and Christina Ricci).

This could be a dangerous topic with me on it. me and my siblings could go on for ages about how horribly incomprehensible his voice was.

Well, I actually have agreed with you on a good few things in the past, mainly Classic Spyro stuff but we have our disagreements. But hey, people have different opinions! Hope I haven't caused any resentment!

I actually can do a real deep, demonic kind of voice like Malefor has. I really want to do voice acting...

Nope, no resentment here, sonicbrawler182. It's a video game about a cartoon dragon, after all. I may sometimes take my fandom seriously, but only insofar as that I find it fun to argue these things on forums. I make a point not to judge anyone based on their forum behavior these days. If you were stalking me somewhere else about this stuff, we might have problems, but you seem far too sensible to do that.

And far too young! A 15 year old stalking an adult? How would that even....oh yeah, I've seen it happen before!

Malefor's voice reminds me a lot of Ozzy Osbourne (not wanting to offend Ozzy's fans) I mean they both have uncompromisable speech and they're all dark and such..
But yeah..they should have keep Mark's understandable voice instead of mixing it to sound evil. The only thing I understood was "Prepare to die!" & "I am eternal!"

It's a mantra I have to repeat frequently here. I keep forgetting that most of you guys are under 15 and haven't a clue about a lot of things (famous voice actors, real cartoons, etc.).

I have a good excuse if I ever seem stupid in regards to cartoons and voice actors and such......

I live in Ireland. Was born here too.

Now that is a good excuse. I've heard you guys don't really have access to very many imports, especially the animated ones.

Mark Hamil's voice would have been amazing if they had just let it be, you know without the crazy voice editing. Really, you couldn't even tell it was him doing the voice.

Also, by now people you've gotta know who Mark Hamil has voiced throughout the years, he is quite the awsome voice actor!

Mark Hamill would've been epic without the alterations, I wonder what it would've been like if Anthony Hopkins or James Earl Jones were the voice actors.

Yeah, I wouldn't have great access to many imports. Also, when I was growing up, I only had about 10 TV channels, which got reduced to 8 somewhere along the line. Also, they were only Irish and English channels(only one of the Irish channels actually used the Irish language though). However, I also get the urge to strangle random people on the internet and some movie directors, games developers etc....

And he would have been perfect as Malefor if they didn't do all the crap to his voice like they did. There's a video of him saying Malefor's lines without all the stuff done to his voice, and it sounds perfect. Just doing a little to his voice wouldn't have hurt, but they kinda overdid it.

And now that I think about it, Malefor is so distorted to the point that he does remind me of Ozzy.

I haven't played the game, but I've watched some of the cutscenes on youtube. I thought maybe the sound quality was just bad, but apparently I'm not the only one who couldn't hear him well. XD

Yeah, I agree he doesn't sonund that intimidating without that demonic tone, but I still don't think they should of got Hamill. They should of got one of the already hired voice actors.

I couldn't understand Malefor at all the first time....then I played it again, but I had subtitles on. Then I understood what Malefor was saying.
