Chronicle 1: The Coming of Stormu
The seven Toa were on a journey to Ta-Koro. They stopped on their journey when they heard a large crash behind them. The sound was of rock crushing rock. They turned around to see something walking towards them in the distance, looking unsteady on their feet. The Toa prepared their weapons as the being came closer and closer. When they could finally see the being, the Toa noticed that its armor was as gray as a storm cloud and its mask was the yellow-white of lightning. It also carried a staff with an orb on top that flashed with lightning, hail, and snow on the inside. On the being’s back were a pair of gray and yellow wings. The being kept trudging closer. Then, the being’s legs slipped out from under its body. When it hit the ground, the Toa rushed to help it. They noticed that the being was a Toa, like them, but they were confused. There were only supposed to be seven Toa- there was no prophecy about an eighth Toa. So they carried the unconscious Toa to Ta-Koro, the village of Tahu (the Toa of Fire). When they arrived, they went straight to Vakama, the Turaga of the village.
“No prophecy has spoken of an eighth Toa.” said Gali, the Toa of Water.
“Yeah, who is this Toa-hero?” asked Lewa, the Toa of Air.
“We need to know.” said Kopaka, the Toa of Ice.
“You are right.” said Vakama at last. “But I don’t know who this is either, so we shall have to wait till they wake up.” So they waited for two days until the Toa awakened. When the seven Toa saw the mysterious newcomer awake, it was talking to Jaller, a Matoran who lived in the village.
“Well, at least we know it’s friendly.” said Pohatu, Toa of Stone. They walked up to the new Toa. When Jaller saw them approaching, he left. The Toa of Earth, named Onua, tapped the Toa on the shoulder. It cried out in surprise and whipped around, preparing to fight.
Noticing that it was just the other Toa, the being relaxed and said, “Don’t scare me like that. I could have hurt you.” The Toa noticed that it talked with a slight lightning-like crackle in its voice.
“Who are you?” asked the golden and white Toa, Takanuva (the Toa of Light).
The mysterious Toa giggled softly and said, “Sorry. My name is Stormu. I’m the Toa of Weather.”
The Toa looked at each other. It was Lewa who broke the silence by saying, “I’m Lewa, Toa-hero of Air.” Stormu smiled at Lewa. The other Toa introduced themselves as well.
“Where did you come from?” asked Pohatu.
“Well, I don’t really remember, but the one thing I do remember are six other capsules leaving but mine staying behind as if it was stuck. Then a shadow engulfed my capsule and I don’t remember anything after that.” explained Stormu. The eight Toa went back to see the Turaga.
“Turaga Vakama, this is Stormu, the Toa of Weather.” said Tahu.
“Hello, Stormu. By the way, Toa, I found the prophecy we were looking for. Take a look.” said Vakama, handing the stone tablet to the Toa. The prophecy stated:
The eighth Toa will arrive but will not appear until she is needed. She will not arrive with the other Toa because a darkness will engulf her and trap her in a blanket of shadows. The Toa will arrive will arrive when she is truly needed.
Tahu read the prophecy aloud to the other Toa. They were so interested that they didn’t notice Stormu slip away towards the beach. She looked at the waves with interest. Stormu was so caught up with watching the waves that she didn’t hear Lewa arrive.
“What’s ever-wrong, Stormu? he asked.
“You guys are so close and are such good friends. Then, I show up and I feel like I’m just someone getting in the way.” Stormu replied dejectedly.
“Don’t mind-think that way.” said Lewa gently. “You’re a Toa-hero just like us. You are just as much a friend as any of the others are.”
“Thanks Lewa, you’re a good friend.” Stormu said, giving Lewa a hug.
“Race you back to Ta-Koro!” exclaimed Lewa.
