I am not a big fan of Elora, but I like her, and I think she should had been in much more games! She only plays a big role in GTG/RR, and she is hardly in YOTD!

Well that was because Spyro left Glimmer and she stayed there.

I know. But you get to see Hunter, Zoe, Moneybags and The Professor after, so why not Elora?

Well, it's like this...

Hunter was in YotD because he was a great pal with Spyro and because when a dragon tells Spyro about the Forgotten Worlds, Hunter goes eager and jumps right down the hole.

Zoe because she had been spying on the Sorceress and soon found out Spyro was on a hard adventure again. For some reason, without telling the others, she followed and protected him throughout.

Moneybags, well this is obvious. As soon as he heard Spyro was out adventuring again he headed straight to the Forgotten Worlds in a second attempt to get alot of gems.

The Professor, before he'd met the Avalari, had been at his lab experimenting and created a portal to Avalar. He started to settle in so left a 'mature' space monkey (Agent 9) to guard the lab. Yes, mature as in "Woohoo! Time to kick some Sorceress butt!".

Elora, as dark52 stated, was just Spyro's guide to Avalar. Insomniac must've thought she might've been too much of a help which is why most people think GtG is the easiest of the trilogy. So they removed her and just made Hunter teach Spyro more stuff. And Zoe, too.

I think Elora stayed in Avalar likely because she was still needed there. The others were free to go about their business, but did anyone else note that, during Ripto's attack, Elora was really the one holding everything together. She even says at the end of RR that there's still a lot to do to make Avalar right again and she has to stay, though she'd love to go vacationing with Spyro.

I think her appearance in YotD was her taking a little break from running Avalar.
