Let's say by the end of the Legend trilogy Cynder is still feeling out of place. One day she is taking a walk alone, and a big gray dragon who looks remarkably like her(as an adult) swoops down and tells her that he's her older brother, Oparin. (Why I named him after a scientist who hypothesized about Earth's early atmosphere, I don't know.) Oparin tells Cynder that she is a missing egg from an isolated dragon race called Arthropod Clans located on a faraway island. There are eight clans total, and they all have fancy Latin-root names but I can't remember them right now. They are 1) Scarab, or Beetle(which is Cynder's telling by the scarab symbol on her head), 2)Bee, 3)Moth, 4)Wasp, 5)Butterfly, 6)Spider, 7)Mosquito, and 8)Ant(that's Oparin).
Oparin explains to Cynder that he was the first Dragon on the island ever to be born with his clan's symbol on his head. Even as a baby, his parents could tell he was special. But when he grew older, his mother died of illness, and his father mysteriously disappeared and hever came back. But the day after that seven eggs came down from the heavens and into Oparin's care. They each had one of the other 7 clan symbols on their shell, and when they hatched, out came one hatchling from each of the other clans, and each was decorated with their clan's symbol, just like Oparin. He named each of them and took them under his wing.
But one egg never had a chance to hatch. On this island along with the Dragons was a Bird race who wanted domination of the island for themselves, and to do that, they had to steal it from the dragons. One day as Oparin was sleeping by his nest, a lone bird flew down and stole the black Scarab egg. The noise was enough to wake Oparin and he charged into the sky after the bird. The feathery menace flew out over the ocean with the special egg. Oparin got it back, but the bird had called reinforcements. They pecked and scratched at Oparin until he dropped the egg. He searched long and hard for it, but the ocean's currents had taken it away, and it was not to be found.
Now, Oparin has had a dream telling him where Cynder is. He has come to find her because the evil Birds have taken over the island and everything is in ruin. They have even abducted the other special dragons and imprisoned them each deep within their own region of the island. Cynder must now come back and help her brother rescue their sisters and reclaim their island from the Birds.

I'd probably more like the "Moth" clan, but I like the way Vyxen looks. I like her scale colour and her eye colour....
I should make some of my own, but with some other dragon...

! I guess I like moth and butterflies best. I'm absolutely addicted to moths.
