Spyro's name is thought to be a mixture of pyro (greek for fire) and spiro (latin for breathe).

Strange...I knew that spiro was latin for breathe and I thought it might be something to do with spyro but I wasn't sure.

Yeah. I knew what pyro was, but I thought it was based on spiral or something. Dunno why.
