A VERY VERY old story I wrote which I'm just adding here out of boredem.
I ran and ran through the murky forest. The dark armies had found us, and the only choice was to run as far away as possible. But who could escape the darkness? I knew they would catch me soon. They had already caught the others. I was just one of the three hopeless, scrawny hatchlings who survived from the dark army’s invasion. Everyone knew that the armies would find us one day, and that day is today. Thousands of them were chasing me, shouting and waving threatening weapons behind me. My heart was thumping faster than a cheetah. Suddenly, they all stopped. I stopped. I was at a dead end. If I ran back, the dark army’s would catch me. I had to think fast. There was only one choice. I leaped into the air, rapidly falling. The fall was lasting forever. I knew my life ends here, but it was only fair. I knew whatever the dark armies would do to my friends would hurt them, whether inside or outside, so I would have to get my share of the pain. I shut my eyes to be comfortable, but it wasn’t long before I opened them. Something stopped my fall. I couldn’t help but turn to check who saved me from death. I saw five, heaving dragonflies. I was amazed. These four dragonflies had saved me. I watched their tiny wings flutter as they gradually flew down to land. I glanced up. I would certainly be dead if those dragonflies didn’t save me, judging by how high the cliff was. The dragonflies looked extremely exhausted, and finally dropped me on the diminutive grass. I took a deep breathe in the fresh air while the dragonflies stared at me.
“That is one big dragonfly,” Said a glowing cerise dragonfly. She blinked her eyes twice, just to check that it was reality. The old, azure dragonfly snorted, indicating the pink dragonfly was wrong.
“No, that’s no dragonfly! That is the majestic purple dragon, imbecile! Now go and get something nice for him.” He snapped, but his feeble smile proved he was only playing.
“Yes sir!” The pink dragonfly said and saluted before flying off into the distance. I was confused. Many creatures hated us dragons because of our fail to keep all the dark armies away. They would watch us passing, either grumbling or rolling eyes. One creature told me that dragon’s used to be majestic, and now they are just dumb, and next this a dragonfly calls me majestic. An emerald coloured dragonfly came closer to me to observe.
“A purple dragon? These things are the ones who caused the dark armies!” Growled the female flyer, shaking her fist
“I totally agree, Emma!” Agreed the orange dragonfly next to her. Emma rolled her eyes. She seemed to be a tough one, but I liked her. I grinned, just to check if she was joking. But this feisty female was expressing her feelings completely. She hated me, but I could consider the dragonfly cute.
“Be quiet, he’s gone through a lot,” Mumbled the old dragonfly. The pink dragonfly rushed back, with a cobalt, soft blanket which she carried by her jaw, rose soap in her left and a soaked, yellow sponge in her right hand. She had a confident smile on her face. She wrapped the blanket around me before neatening its appearance up. She scrubbed me hard on my left with the soap. “Stop, Nina!” Ordered the aged dragonfly. Nina didn’t seem happy with the old dragonfly’s orders, and couldn’t help but object.
“But Sir Walsh, didn’t you ask to get him something nice? Also, I have to feed the children in a second.”
Sir Walsh sighed, and swept away the sweat from his forehead.
“Fine, off you go… but make sure you return once you have fed the children. Actually, the purple dragon must be hungry; you should take him with you.” Sir Walsh ordered once more.
Nina nodded, and set off. I followed her. She was quite fast for a dragonfly, and I had to run to catch up to her.
