Well, there I was, sitting on a ruined sofa looking out at the destruction of inner City 17. What used to be an eerie place to live in was now a ruined war zone. Our main enemy was the Combine, a ruthless faction of indescribable power; Part human, part machine, intent on killing our species and to harvest our resources. We are dragons of a certain type, rebellious of their oppressive nature. It was our duty to protect the very being of our species as best as we could, even if taking risks which could shatter this goal.

I am Admeet, a lonely, male rebel with the duty in mind. I wasn’t much of an attractive dragon, even if the Combine’s “Suppression Field” stopped our reproductive cycle; I could never have attracted the opposite sex. If only there was a way, I felt so lonely. However, I knew that someone known as Spyro or “The Free Dragon” would shut down the Suppression Field to make us reproductive again and in fact, defeat the Combine with one single stroke. Well, we could only wait and see.

Two other dragons looked out over the streets scanning for any activity. “Damn, it’s too quiet” the first dragon said resting his arm on a bit of broken wall, he was a male. “Then we’ll have to move quickly” said the other dragon, a female, “you coming?” She looked at me and I looked back at her. I had no other choice, either survive long enough with the two, or be shot by the Combine. “Alright” I sighed at the thought of dying at any moment. The female nodded and patted me on the shoulder. “We do this together” she said. I nodded slowly and patted her on the shoulder and she nodded back again. At least I’ve gained some hope in this continuous battle for survival and I would need it. We cocked our SMGs and prepared for the next assault.

We walked to the other side of the ruined apartment and overlooked what was like déjà vu. More destroyed city but what stood out of the crowd was the Citadel - An impenetrable fortress standing over the grey clouds and it served as the Combine’s headquarters. No one had penetrated through the Citadel’s defences successfully, yet. But that wasn’t our goal in mind. “That small apartment there looks like a good place for a Combine outpost” said the male dragon clutching his SMG firmly in his hands, “if we storm it successfully, we might be able to grab some Intel of some Combine generators in this sector”. I nodded in slight agreement that we should raid this place. “How exactly are we getting into this place” I asked, “Surely every door there is locked by a Combine sensor”. “We’ll just have to make our own entrance” he replied, “fortunately; I have a spare SMG grenade with me so that we can blow a hole through the wall”. I observed the apartment looking for any activity. “Surely that would alert the troops inside” I said. “Yeah, but where’s the fun without a fight” he asked with a smug look on his face. I said nothing at the comment but nodded. He was probably the most optimistic and enthusiastic one right now in City 17 – everyone else is miserable or either even worse, dead. I gripped my SMG hard and we all set off to the ground level of the apartment and onto the streets.

The streets were notoriously dangerous. The worst you could encounter on the streets were either a squad of Combine troops escorting a Combine APC or one Strider. But we were forced onto the streets no matter what danger there was because we needed to keep moving to stay alive. We ran out onto the streets to find it dead quiet except for the gun fire in the background. Occasionally, you would find a squad of soldiers patrolling the street you were on, but the soldier’s numbers were mainly concentrated near the base of the citadel. So many streets were left quiet and empty but they had left their mark on nearly destroying every street. We hastily made our way towards the next apartment were the male dragon set about preparing to make a hole in the wall. “Right, get ready” he said, “as soon as I’ve destroyed this wall, get ready to move and take control of the outpost”. I was half paying attention to what he was saying as I was inspecting a red wrench that was lying on the cobblestone road with all the other bits of junk and debris. “Stand back” he said preparing his SMG. “Wait” I shouted delaying the dragon’s actions, “I have an idea”. I picked up the wrench and walked over to the front door. The male and female dragons stopped to look at what I was going to do. I inspected the sensor attached to the door and jammed the wrench in a small gap behind the sensor. I tugged at the stick of the wrench and started to break the sensor from its position. It was moving very slowly as combine technology had good protection and durability.

After a while, the male dragon’s patience disappeared all together and my progress with breaking the sensor was going slow. “Oh, what the hell” the male dragon said sighing and aiming his SMG towards the bare wall. He fired and a grenade shot out of the secondary barrel and hit the wall. The grenade exploded with a loud bang and blew nearly the entire wall down from the force; Dust and debris littered the air. I was knocked back from the blast I fell to the ground with the loud noise ringing in my small ears. I couldn’t hear a thing around me and my other senses were pretty wrecked as well. “All right, go, go, go” the male dragon shouted as he entered the building. The female dragon followed behind him and I was left to regain my senses. I coughed out bits of dust and dirt from the explosion and tried to see through the dust cloud. But what I saw was unexpected. A group of soldiers came to investigate the nearby explosion and obviously saw me through the smoke in their special vision. “Don’t move” one soldier said in a fast talking radio voice, “subject confirmed at TT-C98 Reading” They pointed their weapons at me and I was forced to surrender, I knew at this point that I would be dead for sure. One soldier checked to make sure I had surrendered while the other soldiers ran inside the building in hope to ambush the other two – I somehow knew that they would be successful. The dust cloud finally cleared and now I was able to see the soldier in front of me pointing his SMG at me. From inside the apartment, I heard the screams of the male and female dragons being ambushed by the soldiers. “It’s an ambush” the male cried out as he was trying to escape from their clutches. But then I heard them scream their final breathes in an act of death. I knew that they had failed. Now I was left for the taking. The soldiers walked outside again, bringing out the corpses of the two dragons. Their bodies were riddled with bullet holes and some of them were pouring out blood. I trembled with fear at what could be the future of me. “Future terms for subject, at point G-66 minor at a 44 reading” a soldier said, “roger that, subject is now a prisoner” replied another soldier, “subject will be taken to point Y12 reading at 25 point west”. “Roger that” replied another soldier taking hold of me by the hands and shackling me. Well, at least my life is spared but I had failed the two dead dragons that were in a better place now. Then suddenly, the butt of a SMG hit my head with a big force and my mind started to spin round in circles as I slowly began to slip into unconsciousness. I could feel my body being dragged off somewhere but I didn’t want to know where.

Good story, i like it.
And i saw 1 mistake. Dragons walk on 4 legs right? SMG is hard to hold in 1 hand right? So how could dragons wield a SMG and run at the same time?

This is Half Life here, without weapons, you're not going to survive
I had to make the dragons hold weapons with Two hands and run on their back legs. I know, it's wrong but I had to

I told you i'd get some done today
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I finally started to gain consciousness, my vision was blurred and all I could see was a blue, grey room. My other senses were all messed up and I couldn’t feel a thing. However, as my vision began to clear, the purpose of why I was in this room was becoming even clearer.

“Subject T96 is awake” said a voice somewhere around me. “Roger that, beginning administration” another voice said. Then my vision cleared altogether as a needle jabbed into a patch of bare skin. Now my senses went hay wire and I could feel the pain from the jab. “Administration of modified Sackticks complete” said the voice which belonged to a soldier handling the needle. I gasped in shock as they had infected me with the virus. However, I thought about why they mentioned “Modified”. Then the “Modified” part kicked in. I started to feel drowsy and light headed. Then suddenly, an explosion sounded throughout the room and possibly other rooms. The soldiers noticed this. “Keep subject T96 at bay, we’ll secure point F71” said the soldier looking at the other soldier with the needle. Whatever it was that caused the explosion, I didn’t like it one bit even if I was slipping into unconsciousness again.
