I agree. Gems actually show how long you have been here and your status. And other people would get jealous of people who win them. For example, what if there was a new member and he/she won loads of contests and was a Gold Sparx within a year.

And on top of that, most of the contests that do take place on here wouldn't be able to be called official. As in, not something someone who actually does have power given to them by the admin. If Dark52 was to hold a contest, that would be different. But a reward for making the best picture for some art contest, or writing the best poem, it doesn't really seem like gems would do the trick. The person would probably benefit and be happier with one of the more usual rewards. Like a free request, character in a story, ect.
