did you notice that when spyro goes up to mr,funderalic he says this : spyro a purple dragon is rare breed were expecting great things from you....does'nt smilie say almost the exact same thing? in Los ANB

They developed the idea before the LoS trilogy, yes it is a similarity.

I did not hear in any other original Spyro game than SL that a purple dragon is special.

Well, considering that in the whole of the original series there were probably 3 or 4 notable purple Dragons. So, they could have been rare, but not like... legendary rare...
