It had been five years after Malefor was defeated and locked away within the crystal. Spyro and Cynder had not grown much in size, but definantly in power. They also caught up with Spyro's old friends, Flame and Ember, who were now mates. Also, a new fire dragoness, called Baeshra, is training to become Ignitus's successor. Baeshra is Spyro's age, but this causes Cynder to feel jealous. However, a much bigger problem shall soon arise. A new evil is emerging, and it will take the strongest efforts of all of them to overcome it. Not everyone will survive.

This story shall be written in the following format:

: The rabbits in Twilight Forest sound good right about now.
-Spyro and Cynder fly to Twilight Forest where they soon catch a rabbit for each of them-

: Either way, I'm starved. Let's eat.


Note: Sparx will not be included in this story because I am an epic fail at thinking up what he would say in different situations. I deeply apologize to all Sparx fans.

OK, here it is!

Beau Plains, a gorgeous paradise; but today, it was a battlefield. Two mighty serpents, one of light and one of darkness, rose up to fight. The two enormous beasts fought long and hard. Desparate to end the battle, the light serpent dug his teeth into the right side of the dark serpent's face, right above it's eye, and dragged it's teeth along it's eye. The serpent of darkness shrieked so loud, it carried for miles and miles. When at last the cries died away, the serpent slithered away, defeated. Everyone was sure that the dark serpent would never pose a threat, or better yet, eventually die.

They were wrong.

Five years later, in the Temple

-Cynder sits outside, staring at the sky. Spyro comes over and notices that she looks troubled.-
: Is something wrong, Cynder?
: I'm not sure... I just feel like something bad is about to happen, but I don't know when, or what.
: Really? I wish Ignitus was here. He could look in the pool of visions and give us a clue.
: We all wish he was here, but that's over and done with, and we have to move on. No matter how much you miss him, he can't come back. I know it's hard, but you have to understand that.
: Yeah, I guess you're right.
: (I need to change the subject...) Hey... Didn't you used to be able to slow down time or something? Whatever happened to that?
: Yeah, but remember when I froze us in that crystal to protect us when Mt. Malefor was crashing down on us?
: Of course.
: That was a time crystal. It took so much time magic, I don't have any left.
-The two dragons watch the sun slowly set, and eventually fall asleep.-

The next day, in the Temple

-Spyro walks into the room with the Pool of Visions to see Baeshra staring into the Pool with a determined look on her face. Baeshra is a female, and about Spyro's age. She has bright red scales and curved, yellow horns. The only spikes on her are on her tail, which are also yellow. She has bright, blue eyes. Spyro walks over and sits next to her-
: Hey Baeshra, what are you doing?
Baehsra: I never knew Ignitus, but I heard he could see things in the Pool of Visions when no one else could. Since I'm going to take his place, I feel I should be able to, too.
: You don't have to-
Baeshra: Wait, I'm seeing something!
: What is it?
Baeshra: I'm not sure. I'm looking at a huge, rocky mountain. It looks dusty and old, like all life on it has died away.
: Do you recognize it? I heard that before you came here, you used to travel all over the land.
Baeshra: Actually... It reminds me of Mt. Cleft. It's a mountain just northeast of here.
: Why would Mt. Cleft be appearing in the Pool of Visions?
Baeshra: I don't know...
: Do you think it's a sign that I should go to it?
Baeshra: I'm not sure, so you should probably wait in case something else happens. You don't want to travel all the way there just to find out that you weren't supposed to.
: Yeah, I suppose you're right.

What happened to the serpent of darkness? What does Mt. Cleft have to do with it? Is Cynder's feeling that something bad will happen right?

-Spyro has decided to visit Flame and Ember. Cynder decided to stay back in case something happens-
: Hey guys. Its been a while.
: Spyro, nice to see you!
: How have you been?
: Good, good. Some wierd stuff has been happening, though.
: Really? Like what?
: Well, first Cynder had a bad feeling that something was going to happen...
: If you ask me, there's something up with that Cynder girl. I find it pretty strange that she was the one who had a "feeling" that something was going to happen. She knows more than she's telling.
: Oh come on, Ember. Cynder isn't like that anymore. She's changed. We all know you're saying that because you're jealous.
: Whatever. I still don't like her.
: Don't mind her, Spyro. What were you saying?
: Its OK, Flame. Anyway, the next morning, Baeshra was trying to see something in the Pool of Vision.
: Really?
: Yup. And she actually saw something - a mountain. She said it was called Mt. Cleft.
: Woah woah woah Mt. Cleft? Flame, haven't we been there before?
: Yeah, I think so.
: Spyro, that place is bad news. It's ridden with evil around every corner. I bet you it has something to do with that Baeshra...
: Is there a reason you hate every dragoness in the world? Wait, I already know the answer - you still want Spyro to be with you, don't you?
: No, I've gotten over that...! ... Well, maybe a little...
: Anyway, Spyro, I think you should talk to Hunter. He might be able to give you more information than we can.
: OK, thanks guys.

The same day, in Dragon City

: Hey Hunter, you here?
: Oh, hey Spyro.
: What do you know about Mt. Cleft?
: What do you want to know about Mt. Cleft?
: Baeshra saw it in the Pool of Visions.
: I think I should show you something...
-Hunter leads Spyro out of the City and into a cave. Inside the cave are pictures, like a prophecy.-
: Woah! What does it say?
: It shows two serpents, one of light and the other of darkness, fighting. The dark serpent is defeated. It then shows the dark serpent heading to Mt. Cleft.
: That's why I've been seeing Mt. Cleft! But, wait, what does this have to do with me?
: It then shows the dark serpent raging havoc around the mountain. Then it shows him destroying the entire mountain range. And then... Oh no...
: What? What is it?
: The serpent... He's heading straight for the Temple as we speak!
: What? How close is he?
: For you, a week away. For him, a few days away. Spyro, you have to gather up as many dragons as you know to stop him before he gets there!
: What about you?
: I fear I'd only slow you down. But, I wish the best of luck to you. Now go, you have no time to lose!
-Frantic, Spyro flies off towards the Temple, hoping he is not too late.-
