Alright, so....we have quite a few things happening in that section which are going out of control. Something needs to be done before it turns into a war zone.
No, I'm not suggesting moderators like everyone else has done before. What I'm suggesting here is an idea me and Adria came up with while talking away on MSN. A stickied topic, similar to the one sitting in Stuff and Nonsense right now, containing guidelines for extra rules applied to that section and a small guide for how to role play for newbies.
Now I know you're going to ask, "What good would a topic about it do?" Well, depends on what the admin thinks of this suggestion.
As for the reason I am putting this forth, we have too many problems arising that cannot be dealt with accordingly because the problems are out of reach of the standard rules.
For Example: We have two users out there right now making a ton of role plays, they are all very similar to one another. We have users yelling out "OMG YOU COPIED MY CHARACTER. OMG YOU STOLE MY RP."
Then we have the downright rude ones, who pick fun at people's characters because they're different, like an eevee who happened to be a mutant, but was still within the listed rules of the Role Play. The creator kicked that person out because their char was different, then proceeded to create a duplicate topic and insult that same user with foul language.
Recently, there was a Role Play made that allowed XXX action, not kissing and making out per se, the naughty stuff that is against the rules.
Now, to the part of this topic you probably want to read the most. What would be in these rules? Pretty much the same rules you see in every Role Play, but not all of the rules in the topic would be that way. The other half of these rules would be to counter the arising problems should they become severe, like this duplicate role play thing, respecting other people's wishes for their characters to be different, and so on.
Also, perhaps the section for the rules could have a grade of severity, minor, moderate and severe and a list of possible punishments for offending that rule.
The "How To Role Play" guide would be covering the basics of role playing, how to counter auto hitting, etc.
For most Role Plays out there that go on without a fuss, would be generally unaffected by these new rules should they be put in place, so no need to panic.
Well, that's the end of my suggestion, sorry it's so long, but I feel that I must say it. Weather or not you consider it dark52, is entirely up to you.

The addition of the rules could help clear out some of the nonsense that is spewing from that section. In all seriousness rules are a very good idea, and the will need to be upheld as well.
Something like rules for the section should be though about, it may help control the unruly users that continue to flame and spam each other over ridiculous things. |

I really think this is a good idea. A topic to provide users with guidelines specifically for that section sounds nice right now.
I also think that it might be a good idea to temporarily ban users who are being foul or rude to another, or breaking any of the rules in that topic, but just in the RP section. If they whine about it, just ignore the. |

It's a great idea, but on the other hand, if people aren't willing to read the rules for that particular role play, what makes you think they'll be willing to read a sticky topic?

I also think it's a good idea. And Cloudy has a point, most people don't read the rules in an RP so they won't read a sticky topic.

Yes, I'm aware of that flaw in the idea. I also know of the ignorance some people have from first hand experience.
But, perhaps the sudden appearance of said sticky topic would at least catch their attention out of pure curiosity? Who knows. |

Maybe. I definitely think it's worth a try.

^ I agree, worth a try.
I wish SOMETHING could be done, though. I mean, I adore role playing, but purposely don't on this site just because of the number of kids who don't know how to make a good role play.

Why not go ahead and make the topic, and then bump it every time it falls down about 10 or so? That way, even if dark52 doesn't make it Sticky, it'll still be there. I don't think anyone here would complain if you "broke the rules" by posting multiple times in a row and writing something like -bump- just to keep it on top.

I don't want to do it without approval from the admin first, doing so without would mean there'd be so many drama llamas. "Omg fake mod!!" Completely ignoring what we're trying to settle down, if it wouldn't have been for that I would've done it. |

I actually like this idea. I hope we can do it somehow... And I have to agree, just making a topic without the Admin's approval will flesh out the Drama Llamas, and no one will be able to RP peacefully.

There was X rated stuff here? Wow, and I thought it was bad between just me and Xev on FanFiction.net. o3o
But anyway, excellent suggestions. 1. Part of the whole All the rules of the Rules apply 2. No Cybering Any sexual content is absolutely forbidden! Keep your posts PG-13. If you wouldn't let your grandmother see, it is not appropriate! 3. Censor swearing Sometimes, your characters might want to swear. If they do, please censor the curse (f---, s---), or use a publicly acceptable word. 4. Ask for permission Before you enter an RP, ask the creator of the thread for permission to join. The owner of an RP has final say over who is allowed in his thread. In addition, you have to wait until the owner declares the RP open before you are allowed to post in it at all. 5. Distinguish between in-character and out-of-character Whenever you post in an RP, make sure everyone knows what parts of your post are in-character (IC) and which are out-of-character (OOC). Examples how to do this is by putting OOC speech in brackets or under a spoiler. The owner of the RP may define how OOC speech must be marked. This also includes that what happens between the characters stays between the characters. Just because your characters don't like each other does not give you the right to flame or attack the player of that character. 6. Keep on topic If you are talking OOC, it has to have to do with the RP. If you want to chat, go to the Popsicle Stand. Don't spam up an RP; others might want to play and not read your chattering. 7. No god-modding You are only allowed to play your character. You are not allowed to decide on the actions of any other player's character. You are also forbidden to kill off any player's character, unless that player agrees. Neither are you allowed to create superior or invincible characters, unless the owner of the thread specifically allows that kind of character. 8. Creating an RP If you create an RP, the following things must be made clear (except for private RPs, see below): Topic and theme: write a short introduction what the RP is about; clarify the setting it is supposed to play in Characters: describe the type and power level of characters appropriate to the setting; this includes the requirements those who want to join have to fulfill with their characters Rules: state the rules that apply to your RP; those rules are of course in addition to those stated here and may not contradict them Character form: it is recommended you create a character form that everyone who wants to join has to fill 9. Special rules for the Private Stage The Private Stage is only for private roleplays, often called One-on-One RPs. The following special rules apply: - While already mentioned above, let me repeat that cybering and explicit posts are absolutely forbidden for every RP, including private RPs. There are young children on these forums, and whether you allow one of them in your RP or not, they are still capable of reading your posts. - Private roleplays only allow users who are invited to post in them. You may create a thread asking to do a One-on-One with somebody else, but you may not jump in another person's RP uninvited. - It is not necessary to post rules, a plot, or character forms in most private RPs, and doing so is entirely optional. Are those adequate for normal, open RPs? |

From Magi, yes?
Anyways, those sound fine to me...sounds exactly like any other roleplay, really. |
