Should Spyro "learn" to swim in the upcoming Spyro game? [CLOSED]

I want him to learn how to swim. Spyro's abilities allow him to swim in the first 5 Spyro console games. How come he can't swim in the new Spyro games????

He can "swim" a tiny bit because he didn't drown in the water wheels level in tall plains in ANB

Yeah... it's like new Spyro has a phobia of water. <.<;

I wish we could swim again. What would be even better would be an underwater boss fight! ^.^

I agree with all of you but HIR, the new Spyro does have a phobia of water, as the GBA version said:

Sparx: You don't do too well in water, either, remember, Spyro? I'd just jump over there if I were you. I'll stay clear as well.

But I guess this wouldn't be a strong hold on it. Because they made a mistake about Cynder and Spyro being siblings at the beginning of the game. I think it would be great if he could swim again. And they just might listen to us since they made Sparx like eating butterfflys again.

I'm done.

Yeah I think it'd be awesome if Spyro could swim again. I really miss being able to swim about underwater like in the previous games. But who knows? Krome might decide to add it in to the last game of the series. We'll just have to wait and see.

An underwater level would be awesome! And you know what? You know the underground area of the temple in the beginning of TEN? They could flood it with water, because the chronicler DID say that the world would be different.

The problem with an underwater level would be that most of the breaths would not work.

True, but they could include parts of the level that are underwater, and parts of the level that involve walking on the land. For example, in "A Hero's Tail", in "Lost Fleet", they combined the two together to make a pretty awesome level to play in.

I forgot about the little bit of swimming in ANB. That was fun. I guess Spyro can swim, there just aren't very many places with actual water in the games (in the forest it's toxic ooze, the ocean is too far down in the pirate levels, etc).

I dunno. After all, he did first learn to swim in GtG, and remember that the new series is a prequel. But that would be cool, especially the boss fight idea.

Where did you hear that!? All that was said was that they were telling the story over. On another note, It'd be awesome to swim, and Krome could really devlope on the idea. Electric... in water = OWNAGE!

It would also be cool if you could use your attacks in water. Like in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage OR Spyro 2: Gateway To Glimmer, Spyro could use his fireball attack underwater. So, they could apply that to the new games.

Under water fighting can be pretty kool if it's done right. Being able to swim would give potential for more interesting and expansive levels. It would also allow for new and interesting enemies, something the TLoS games has a have a distinct lack of.

I'm pretty sure there's one teeny patch of deepish water in Tall Plains that Spyro can swim in... Maybe I'll replay it to see (I like ANB more than TEN and I miss Cree Summers as Cynder; also, it only takes a couple of hours with the cheats smilie).

Actually he would have two normal attacks: charging and earth flail, all others including melee (to bad water would take all the force out of it) would not be effective underwater, and charge is not very effective for damage. So what type of fighting underwater did you have in mind?

Oh, he should learn to swim. It would add a whole new level of gameplay that is really needed to ensure that LOS 3 isn't just a rehash of the past two games.

A super fire ball (as in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage OR Spyro 2: Gateway To Glimmer), swimming while charging (as in the previous Spyro games), a very hot underwater electricity burst, and the use of Fury's underwater.

Well, I believe that Spyro could still use melee attacks underwater (probably special UW specific), although I agree HIR, that most if not all of the breaths are completely useless underwater. I know where talking fantasy physics (FP) here so melee's are an option. Spyro'd no doubt have to learn it though. smilie

Actally it would, as would it would any movement that would displace water. And Twilight, inertia still seems to apply so the water would inhibit melee.

I think they SHOULD make Spyro swim in water in the next one. But Spyro doesn't swim in StD. If the new games go back before StD, then it might not make sense in my opinon. But I still think they should cuz I LOVED it when Spyro could swim!

I agree with you, "HIR". Maybe it is a reboot, but it does seem related to the old games. It did say, "Hunter Of Avalor" in The Legend Of Spyro: The Eternal Night, and they did include that picture of the guy with the bow and arrow at the very end of the game, which we all only know one character with a bow and arrow in the Spyro series. Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see when they release the 8th console game of Spyro.

A lot of the things that seem related to the original series are in the games to provide some familiarity to old players. They're little easter eggs for all of us who grew up playing the original trilogy.

My money is on this series being a reboot. Krome has implied on multiple occasions that it is a reboot. However, in one interview, someone did say it was a prequel. So now no one really knows. We'll find out for sure when the third game comes out.

Krome started out with the intention of making it a prequel. But it became a series reboot. As for Hunter's appearance, he is being remade just like Spyro and Sparx. <.<;
