PS2 version:

Executioner is just like the Ice King, if I remember right.
I used breaths, they did fine.

Playing with Dark Spyro, executioner was very easy. It took some 5 seconds to beat Executioner with Convexity Breath smilie

It's a shame you first can get the dark powers (convexity breath) after beating the game cause they are REALLY efective against him...

Taking from someone who never started using Earth Breath until the first big enemy ambush later on in the stage (AKA myself o_o), freezing him with ice can do well to inflict damage. And to counter against his faster attacks, it's all about very good use of dragon time.

Here's an excellent strategy....

For the first round, the Executioner has a shield and sword. Circle clockwise around the Executioner and wait for him to raise his sword up. Use Dragon Time and glide away from the Executioner. If he mises, his sword will become stuck in the ground. Go up and Air Melee him. Use a Comet Dash to escape the Executioner's counterattack while inflicting some damage.

Once his shield is destroyed. It's a matter of getting in close to the Executioner, and then Air Melee/Comet Dashing him until he goes down.
