Do you think that the older Spyro games was much better than the newer ones.

IMO I definitely think so, look here at the comparison.

It may be from the PS1 to the PS2. But the game from the PS1 was put together much more nicely than the one from the PS2. Then again, the PS2 has much more detail and special effect. But I bet the pixels were larger than the pixels on the PS2. Not to mention the many colors they put in the first pic rather than the second pic.

I've gotta agree
IMO the level design got really dull in TLOS series...
The enviroments just looked boring and lifeless to me xl(especially in TEN) Except maybe for PS3/xbox360 DoTD which had some pretty stunning visuals, but still they were exaggerated... and looked more like they would fit into some realistic fantasy game rather than Spyro, cus he's really not ment to be realistic...
The old worlds were just so much fun to explore, and there was so much variety...They were colourful and yet simple and just appealing to the eye...

Aside from Cynder's Fortress, the level's designed by Krome left something to be desired. <.<;

Well, the hope is that Spyro 9 will be at least somewhat better than the last Spyro game, DotD.

The old games were better overall. Specifically the landscapes were beautiful, especially the ones in STD where the skies were multicolored and starry. Also, Insomniac had a knack for making kid's characters look cute and attractive without prompting perverts to make any porn of them.

Why are we comparing a promotional picture to a game play picture (Again)?

It is still comparing a level that was selected because it looked nice to one that was not. The picture for TEN was to highlight the gameplay (for it was one from the company), rather than the scenery. A better comparison would be Tall Plains and Sheila's... whatever it was called.

I like the art and abilities in the new series and i like the story in the old series. So is hard to decide.

It's too bad that tLoS couldn't be colorful like the TY trilogy. (Krome Studios developed it nicely.)

I enjoy Spyro's Krome design, but I'd like to explore the original trilogy with him. XD

The old series had a story?

The first Spyro game was about Spyro rescuing other dragons, defeating the evil minions of Gnasty Gnorc and defeat the gnorc himself to save the Dragon Worlds. The second game was about Spyro saving the worlds of Avalar from Ripto and his minions, although he was on his way to his vacation but got sidetracked. The third game was about him rescuing the dragon eggs and saving the Forgotten Worlds from the Sorceress.

You misses the sarcasim. I know that, but the plot is so thin and has so little development that they practically do not have a story.

they were also the first three games of the Spyro franchise... you can't expect them to have a very well developed story... did better known franchises like Mario or Sonic get a GREAT storyline just with their three first games?I don't think so...the story and it's universe DEVELOPS over time...
In fact ,comparing to those two Spyro actually had a really good storyline throughout his first three games. They had good humor(imo), lovable characters, it wasn't a complicated storyline, had a few twists and overall nicely done .

the second from elturnal night {I think} has much more detail but much less game. personally I prefer the older games for this reason. and you picked a dark picture, with if you look closely is still better, to prove your point. I like the better animation, but hate the fact that i beat new beginning and elturnal night three times in one day. smilie So next time you fuss about animation, try making sure you pick better pictures to do it. No offense, I'm picky about that subject.

To be fair, it was harder to create suberb detail in PS1 games, given the lack of appropriate technologies.

i don't like comparing them anymore. They're completely different genres of games and it depends on if you like more action/fantasy or lighter, happy games. I personally like the new ones better for my own reasons, and i do not think the original games would be any better.

Old game with TLOS graphics. Still the same colors and all that other stuff though, just the graphics could be like the TLOS graphics.

hm, I don't believe they prompted perverts to make any porn or whatever. There are perverts out there that can make porn out of anything. Literally, anything. And I don't think the TLoS trilogy was aimed at the same audience as the original games. There are ratings for a reason..
