Peace has reigned in the Dragon Realms for eighteen years, then when Spyro discovers a new portal opening inside the Dragon Temple itself an entire new threat unveils itself.
Every Portal had been deactivated after a mass accident seven years ago, and this new one seemed impossible and unreconized. Out of the portal emerged an army of deadly, demonic beasts lead by someone unknown and the The Dragon temple is burned to the ground.
In a desperate attempt to regain balance, Spyro and cynder are sent to get through to the Portal and try and bring an end to the destruction. Then when they go through, they find more than they expected.
