THE PUZZLE OF HISTORY

Good… They are closer. But still so far away. Will they try to go through that storm?

Southern Alps, New Zealand

“Ah, we have a good hearty breakfast for you here.” Sarah said pulling out chairs from the table for them to sit down. “Oh yes, Claro!” The grime from there clothes jumped away onto the floor. With a small sweep of her hand, the dirt rolled away under the door outside.
They ate the food put before them. Taking long draughts from their glass cups full of Flouwan they immediately woke up and felt energized. When they volunteered to help clean the dishes and pack up, Sarah would not let them and just started pushing them out and made them sit down on the comfy couches in the living room.
“Morning!” greeted the friendly voice of Chris coming through the door carrying a sack over his back. “I’ve got a few surprises for you.” He chucked the bag down on the table. It landed with a clang of metal. “Well, go on.” He said as they looked at him unexpectedly. “See what’s inside it.” They open the mouth to the sack and Simon grinned as he pulled out his hammer. There were no scratches, scorch marks or anything that showed signs of being in a fire.
“How did you find it?” he asked. “We never even told you where the battle happened.”
“It’s no hard to follow three hundred metre high smoke you know. Oh and I got your book. Strangely, and how extremely lucky you were that that book was he only thing not it the pile of rubble smouldering. It was lying a few metres away on the round. A little singed, but nothing big.” Valora rummaged through and took out the book. It was about three inches thick and had a cover with a massive picture of a pine tree on the front. It must relate to some story, she thought. She thanked Chris and then after a long silence, Sophie spoke.
“Did the message come back?”
“Let me check…” he wandered off to the kitchen then as they heard a bang of pots and pans he ran out with a piece of paper. “Yes! Here we go! You want to read?” Sophie nodded and took the paper. It read:

We are delighted they are well.
We have sent an escort for them
immediately and will arrive in two
hours.
Mt. Cook base, General Coscour

“When did this arrive?” Matt said looking at the note.
Chris checked his watch. “About quarter of an hour ago; which means they should be here by ten-to-eleven.”
“Cool. What’s the Mt. Cook base like?” Valora said interested.
“Well, it’s cold. It has a very limited way to get in and would force any enemy into a bottleneck if they tried to get in. Not the best fortress, no where near Atlantis or anything but it will hold its own against an attack. I fought there once. How long ago was it?” His eyes clouded with memory, and something else. Like a memory he didn’t welcome. “It must’ve been seventy years or so. My squad was nearly dead, we were cornered and the only way to stop them was open the gate. But in stead I simply fired a singled shot, my last one as it was and snapped the chains. They broke and a weight crushed the Predators that had us cornered.” He stopped talking and sighed. “It was after that battle I knew my fighting days were over. Two-hundred-and-thirty-four in the Alarian New Zealand Military or the A.Z.N.M. So I retired to farming here to help support Mt. Cook.”
“That sounds really heroic you know.” Sophie said and he smiled gratefully.
“Thanks, but don’t praise me, you don’t know what other have done. Ever heard the tale of Whitecraft?”
“I’ve read it.” Matt said. “But I didn’t understand it completely. It was complicated.”
“It’s probably the most well known tale of all time. Would you like to hear it?” He asked, and everyone shrugged then said ‘yea, ok.’.
“Well, here I go. It was two-and-a-half-billion years ago. We were in the greatest scale war of all time, and it was the first part of the Eternal War. The Black Mind, Black Hand and Torius were wrecking death and destruction over the world. Billions were dead and it seemed we were going to lose the war once and for all. This was all before you humans were put on earth you know. An army was marching towards Atlantis completely at our unawares. With most of our forces fighting off an army at Orthidian, we barely had any defences at Atlantis. Within Atlantis though was the Everondin. A gemstone that could supply a warlock with enough power to move a mountain. If the Black Mind got is hand on it, we wouldn’t have chance of survival. Of course, it’s gone now, lost in the bloodlust of war and decay. They struck at us hard, and dealt a deadly blow. Then he came. Whitecraft came from no-where and fought a battle against Torius himself and slew him. He saved Atlantis from certain destruction, and he also saved the world from a terrible demise. The Predators saw their master dead, and were turned to ash. With half The Black Mind’s army dead, Whitecraft led every man he could to Orthidian and attacked the other army we were combating from the side. The Predators were pressured into a corner, and Whitecraft hunted out the dragon leading the attack. The Black Hand it was, and he defeated him in an epic battle. He didn’t kill him, but made him lose his powers and flee to the shadows. The Predators there that day were then nothing put piles of ash. He stopped The Black Mind from bringing certain death to the world. Neither side had the strength to strike, now is not the time for how the second part began e down the remaining men of the opposition, and so the war ended. Or so we thought.” The tale finished and they were all listening intensively. “That was a very brief version of how the first part of the war ended, and the details are greatly different. But also or came to this. You will learn in Atlantis I’m sure.”
Simon sighed. “Well, it seems very err… epic how it all acme to be. So I understand The Black Mind and Hand are still out there. Somewhere… waiting to kill us.” The air was filled with an uneasy feeling.
“Well, if you want the full recount from Whitecraft himself, you can have this.” He walked over to a tall rack of books that were dusty and they could tell were old as their must’ve been at least good layer of dust. He handed Matt a big book that weighed a tonne as he found it or thought it. “It should be in there.” Matt saw it was the same book he had gotten from the library but lost in the inferno after the battle. It was Heroes and Heroics.
“Yes, I got this from the Morundor library but lost it after the battle. So we can keep it?” Matt said not looking at him and prying open the book with his fingers slowly. It seemed almost fragile, so he decided to be cautious.
“Chris?” Sarah’s voice was worried.
“Yes?” he called back.
“You need to see this.” He went into the kitchen, and they heard many mutterings and it was only a few seconds until he burst through into the living room.
“Get in the car, now! They’ve found us. The Predator are heading this way. We can’t wait for the escort to come, we’re taking you there ourselves. I’ll get you things, just get in the car.” He chucked them a set of keys and ran down the hallway.
They heard a shout of ‘Cevara!’ Chris and Sarah ran outside with the Guardians and their things were floating through mid air and into the boot of the old car. It was rusty and dirty, like a stereotypical farmer’s car. The boot clicked open and Chris tossed their things in. Matt was clutching Heroes and Heroics to his chest.
“Boy I hope these luck charms work.” Valora said twisting her bracelet round her wrist. Matt nodded. The four got in the back of the car and Chris and Sarah got in the front with Chris in the driving seat on the right. With a deep rumble, the car shot off. Shooting dust through the air and gravel in every direction they raced down the road.
Matt looked back out the dirty window and saw black moving shapes gaining on them. They were flying, and snarling with their mouths gaping like black holes ready to devour anything.

here more, dont worry more come

They drove along as fast as they could. Breaching the speed limit of one-hundred by twenty kilometres an hour. The ride was bumpy as they hit building stones or potholes and were jolted upwards. The Predators were coming closer, and to their fear they passed a car when they sped around a corner and with a resounding crash sound, they saw the car hit the storm of Predators. It was stripped of all metal and exploded in a whirl of flames. The Predators were not injured with the burning wreck and continued racing after them, hungry for blood and meat.
“That’s it, I’m doing something about this!” Simon grabbed the punched the button on the roof and opened the sun-roof. He stood up, trying to keep balance.
Reaching out with his mind, he made contact with his powers and immediately his energy began being sapped out of him. Using his power over earth, he made cracks appear in the road before the Predators. Making them bigger until the Predators would fall down there before they saw it was coming he forged a trap for them. As the approached the gaps in the ground, the first row of them pelted for them then tripped and fell to their deaths on the spiky pinnacle-like rocks within. Soon enough though, they avoided hem, leaping over and dodging them with abnormal agility.
The car spun off the road and began hurtling up a hill. Simon was thrown down and against his seat.
“We’re going to cross into Alarian territory soon! They won’t attempt to cross then with the defences up!” Chris yelled. Too frightened to do anything, they just nodded. “Dammit! There’s a gorge coming up! She’s got a bit of juice in her still! Matt I might need your powers to get us over!” Matt held onto the bar above his head, as tight as he could.
The car smashed through a wooden fence and into a long paddock. He saw through the front window there was a gap coming closer at a rapid speed.
Looking back at the moving swarm of death that threatened to kill them, he saw they were mere metres away, screaming and reaching out attempting to catch onto the back of the car. To their fear, one clutched the tow bar at the back and began tearing its way up the car around to the door.
“My turn!” Sophie undid her seatbelt and put her head through the sun-roof.
She brought her powers, forcing the energy out and into her hands. It burned, and her palms glowed with a red light. Sparks shot from hand to hand so fast they eventually formed a small flame the size of a tennis-ball.
The Predator pulled itself onto the roof, ripping it apart even though it was metal. It released a howl like the devil. It was coming closer, struggling against the intense wind.
“Eat this.” She said and threw it like she would real ball. The flame dealt a blow to the Predator on the face, burning a mark deep into its skin. Its blood dribbled out and was tossed away in the air. It continued clawing itself closer, though it had a deep gouge on the right side of its head. As though it was unhindered, it was getting so close.
The energy was withdrawing and she was too tired to make another one of the fireballs. To her surprise, she was yanked down into the car by her top with a Valora steering at her, her eyes alight with the feeling of battle.
Valora stood up and swirled the water around hands as she commanded it to. She had already activated the energy in the car. She focused all her energy into creating water on the rusty car’s roof making it slippery for the Predator.
Pushing out the power, water washed over the car. It made its way under the Predator until and started tripping. The Predator’s left hand slipped and wacked it in the stomach from the force of the wind. It growled and snapped at her with its jaws, but was thrown off, and tumbled off onto the road. The body twisted and bowled over multiple grade ones.
“Let’s se how they like this! Hold on kids!” yelled Chris, and he pulled a small lever on the roof downwards and they heard a swoosh noise. A colossal explosion racked the air behind them and they saw two small rockets shoot out of the back of the car. The Predators were blown away in a wave of fire and inferno. Smoke rose from the ashes that were once Predators, and from within it the rampaging Predators burst fouth and continued to chase them. Many had burns, and smoking patches, but they persevered.
“ Do they have to be so damn persistent!” Simon screamed looking back at them.
“OK, we’re nearly at the gorge. Matt do you know how to do a Wind Slice?” Chris roared.
“Yes, I think so.” He said uncertainly, knowing if he got it wrong they would all die.
“Good, when I say ‘now’ you’ve got to launch us through the air over the gorge and we’ll be in Alarians territory! We’ll have guards to assist us and full on defences!”
They neared the edge, and it got bumpier. They were thrown round the back of the car, and it was difficult for Matt to force himself through the sunroof. He barely kept balance, tripping over his own feet every so often as he waited for Chris’ order.
He looked around away from the black horde of Predators to see the edge was only a few metres away. With one last thrust on the pedal, the car was catapulted through the air and over the gorge.
“NOW!” Chris yelled.
Matt bolted through his powers defences with every ounce of energy he had and let the force of wind enter him. The energy was compelling, and everything seemed to move in slow motion. The Predators were all over them, closing around them like a gaping mouth. Using his energies he sent a streamlined blade of slicing wind back at the Predators. With the strength of his attack, the car was propelled forward and out of the Predators’ range. The u-turned backwards and stopped in mid air. Just hovering and snarling as the car skidded to a halt on the other side, relief washed over their minds.
They heard the sound of arrows being shot out of places they couldn’t see. Flaming objects struck the Predators from their sides, and avalanches of snow fell from the cliff sides around them. They retreated as fast as possible, scampering away, beating their wings like mad until they were out of range of all projectiles.
They were all puffing from the adventure they just had. Freaked out by how close they came to death. Chris got out of the car, and dropped to the ground on his knees. He put one hand to his heart, and gasped to draw in air.
Sarah leapt out and caught him in her arms before he fell to the snowy ground. She was crying. The Guardians ran over to him, to see a blotch of blood directly over his heart. It was still bleeding and he was trying to draw in breath.
“What happened?” Matt asked, swallowing at the thought of what was to come next.
“When the Predators nearly surrounded us over the gorge, one smashed the window and slashed at his heart before you got us out. He’s dying, there’s no healing spell that can undo this kind of damage. The medics are ages away!” Sarah said, still sobbing and tears falling from her eyes.
Chris began convulsing, and then went still. With one last glance at the Guardians, he said:
“I did my duty…” and life left him to the cruel hands of death. Sarah was holding his body close, shaking and crying. Her hair falling across his face like a veil.

The was a thunder of scraping metal and the falling of ice and snow as they looked around to see three doors open around the clearing. A snowflake fell on Matt’s nose and he saw multiple species emerge from the doors. This time there were not only dwarves and elves, but minotaurs, centaurs, and two griffons.
The centaurs were proudly holding themselves, and clad in heavy armour right down to their hooves. They bore many varieties of weapons, although the majority of them held bows. They did not have them raised, but only hung at their sides ready to pulled out at any time. Their half man, half horse made them extremely tall and towered above any other being around them. They all had long, dark hair that freely swung on their backs.
The minotaurs were heavily built, and wore no armour with their skin tough enough as any armour would be. They held in their black or brown hands with yellow nails massive heavy weapons like hammers and humongous war-axes with blades that were the size of car tires. They had scowling faces, that had an expression of a war-like warrior with no humour. Their all had twelve packs and muscles like a world champion boxer. Some wore shoulder pads of a thin leather and straps that would enable to sling their weapons on their backs.
Two Griffons arrived beside them, and knelt down, bending their knees in respect to the Guardians. As hey did, so did everyone else in the area, going into short bows and murmuring things like ‘Savaro’ and ‘Ouns Hemsayi’. They had no idea what it meant, but as soon as they looked around quizzically at them, a centaur walked to confront them and said with pleasure,
“It means saviour, or Chosen Ones; and may I say this is the highest pleasure to have you in our presence. Welcome to the Mt. Cook base, well actually it still a fair walk until we reach the actual city, but this is an entrance to our lands. You will be protected within these boundaries. Please, come, we don’t want our great Guardians getting colds.” He made a small hand movement and everyone formed a circle around them and opened up a single passage into through the dull grey doors.
The four didn’t say anything, still shocked from the car ride and started stumbling towards the mountainside interior.
Sarah was led away from Chris’ dead body and she had to be forcibly removed from him still yelling to let her go. They looked back at her, and knew they shouldn’t do anything for some reason.
They reached the doors, and as soon as they entered, they were greeted by a warm air and fire lit corridor. It extended as far as Sophie could see, there were steaming pipes and vents that let off strange odours. The Alarians came in from the cold, chucking their cloaks and hoods on the hundreds of hooks that ran along the walls. They began talking of how cold it was outside, and how they nearly missed the Predators when they ambushed them.
The centaur that had talked to them before came in and pulled off his chest piece of armour and placed in a locker chest. Twirling the combination in, he closed it and yet again bowed to them.
“Forgive me your honours, my name is Eridon, and I’m the guard master of the Eastern Entrance. It is still a couple of hours travel to Mt. Cook, but we have arranged transport. Sophie breathed deeply, then brought the energy to say something.
“We’re aren’t… walking are we?” she asked, hoping they weren’t. She had had enough of walking lately. He looked at her in astonishment.
“Of course not! We wouldn’t have any of the Guardians at risk of being attacked by yetis around these mountains.” All four of them stopped to look at him. Yetis? Valora thought, surely that was slightly too far out there.
Eridon bowed again, his human ears twitching and led them along the passage. Every so often, there was a surge of steam that blasted from the pipes. “The heating is expensive I tell you, but you haven’t been in Mt. Everest.”
“There’s a base in Mt. Everest?” Matt said in a disbelieving voice.
Eridon didn’t turn to look at him. “Yes, but not Alarian., not anymore. We lost it to The Black Mind, about twelve thousand years ago.”
Simon seemed to choke on his own breath. “And of course that isn’t long!” Eridon didn’t detect the sarcasm in his voice.
“Indeed it isn’t. The Black Mind took Amon’dur I think it was around… fifty million years ago.” They turned a corner and started going upwards on a slight slope. They could see in distance a small light that led to the surface.
“Umm… Eridon,” Valora said. “when was the first sight of a human?”
Eridon stayed silent for a while. Coming to a halt, he turned to face them, an expression most like a scowl consuming his face.
“It’s not a topic Alarians like to discuss. It was a very dark time for both races. The humans have no idea that it happened, but I will say God put the first one on earth around four million years ago. But you-.”
“That’s impossible though!” Sophie said placing hr hands on her hips. “The first record of human existence is around one-hundred-and-twenty-thousand years ago!”
“I was just going to explain that. At the end of the Last War, the only thing we could do was destroy everything they had. Technology, their warlocks, as they had advanced so much with our help. We reduced them to savages, and their past of fighting with us was wiped gone. The one thing we couldn’t stop, was their memories. They remembered fighting us, and passed us on their memories to their children, but eventually we became legends.”
“OK, we know that part. We’ve heard it. But my question is this.” Matt said. “You say you stripped them to savages right?” Eridor nodded, wondering what he was going to ask. “Why didn’t you take back your land while we were weak?”

“Because we were weaker. Also, there was a vote at the last Council meeting. Whether to ride with what little men we had left, or to abandon it all and hide ourselves in order for the humans to forget us and stop hunting our kinds.” He trotted away without another word.
They continued walking down the passage until they came out into the blue-white light. It was a snowy clearing, and snowflakes were falling like rain all around them. Sophie shivered.
Eridor whispered something in a Griffon’s ear. It came over, and bowed its neck. It had a soft voice, which they could immediately tell was a girl’s.
“You will be riding me. With you flying, it won’t take a minute to get to the base, well not with me flying at my speeds!” Her beak clicked and snipped. “My name is Vera, and these are Iloyn, Unon, and Quen. You will be riding either one of us. I’ll be leading, and you will follow in order as directed. Do not distract us, as I’m sure there will be a couple of Predators out parked around a few clouds. We’ll deal with, no need to waste your energy. Though there might be a few manoeuvres so hold on tight.”
Valora smiled and went to feel Vera’s feathers. They were soft, and flicked after her fingers as she fiddled a few around her fingers.
“Well, get on.” A bitter voice came from Unon to her right. He rolled his eyes, and ran to Matt who eagerly pulled his leg over and on his back. Simon took his time to get on and eventually had to be helped onto Iloyn’s back. Sophie had no trouble, being familiar with horse she go on in a matter of seconds. Gripping around their necks and holding their hands together, they braced themselves for take off.
The four griffons ran beside each other to the edge of a cliff, they wer terrified of what might come next. The silvery wings spread out around them, and they began flying. The valley below seemed so far away and Sophie was transfixed at the view. Their faces were soaked as it was thrown through hundreds of droplets of rain as they sped around mountainsides and down through the deep valleys.

still more to come!

Immediatly!

“Hold on Guardians! It might get a little cold.” Vera said and hey began ascending straight upwards. Simon was terrified, clinging for dear life as hard as he could. He had his eyes closed, and was almost crying. The wind whipped his face, and gravity seemed to make no affect at some points. Sophie was screaming with joy, holding on with one hand as her hair was being pulled away from her by the fierce wind’s freezing clutches.
The clouds neared, and they seemed to fade as they got closer. The four attacked the clouds, to be met by an even more intense water space. Their hair plastered to their skulls, and goose bumps pooped over their entire bodies.
They roared above the clouds to see a shining sun above them and as they looked out they found a sea of grey clouds that seemed to never end. They thinned out and became white the further it went. They could see the pencil like tips of the tallest mountains.
Gravity lost its effect completely as the griffons went into a deep plunge. They pumped their wings, and squawked with a high pitch sound that almost hurt Matt’s ears.
They dived under the clouds into a deep, water ridden valley. There were deep puddles that you couldn’t see how deep they went and were a hazard when you tried. They swooped, then pulled at the last second to land, planting their back lion feet on the wet rocks and stones.
There was little snow here, as it all turned to water before they touched the ground. As they hopped off the backs of the griffons who shook themselves to get a little water off. It seemed to be desolate and nothing here. Just rocks, boulders and water.
“Err… Vera?” Matt said, looking around, puzzled. “Where are we?”
“Why we’re at the Mt. Cook base. Or entrance at least.” She said and walked over to a particularly large boulder of a strange shape that was extremely tall. The top of it was shaped like a small ‘A’. “Ah, here we are. Now, all we need is an Alarian hand print.” She raised her eagle talon, then paused. “How about you try?”
Matt looked surprised and joined her at the giant rock. He looked a his hand as if to expect something new.
“It won’t work, I’m human.” He stuck his hand on the rock and felt the stones around him cracking and turning to pebbles to reveal a small hole in the side of the cliff that led down into a dimly lit room.
“But you are a Guardian. And will have powers you never expect.” She said and proceeded down the hole. The other three griffons just looked at them, waiting for them to go in first.
About ten metres away, a boulder cracked and fell to the ground ten feet below. It was severed into three pieces and as they looked to see where it came from, they saw a drooling face of a screeching Predator. More sprung out from behind rocks and little crevasses. They prowled closer, tapping their demented claws on the wet rocks below. There must’ve been at least fifty cornering them.
“Get inside, we’ll hold them off!” Quen ordered them inside, she crouched down to obscure her underbelly from attacks. The three surrounded them, snapping their beaks threateningly at the Predators, stalling for time.
Valora backed away, going into the small tunnel. Matt grabbed her shirt, and looked her in the eyes.
“Too many have died for us, we aren’t going to let any more.” She breathed deeply, afraid of the numbers of Predators that were still climbing.
They joined the three griffons who were looking at them in frightened surprise.
“I said get inside!” she shot her tail at the entranceway.
“No-one more will die on my watch today.” Matt yelled, and stood in a battle stance, like a karate position.
They put themselves each in between a griffon. Readying to fight, they all called on their powers. Matt smashed the wall that stopped his energy with the fury that fuelled him at the moment. He felt the cool power wash over his body like water and he felt he could do anything.
The closest Predator lashed at him with its tail. He twisted to dodge it, and did successfully. Spinning in a three-sixty, he slashed with a wind slice and the predator’s chest split in a splash of dark blood that stained the rocks.
Unon leapt forward in the air, straight up and then after a while twisted entirely around and dived for the ground. Faster than the rain itself as it fell, Unon swooped along the ground, and with her wings she smacked multiple Predators over the head, which snapped their necks an they collapsed backwards, dead.
Iloyn was breaking a Predator in half, by biting in with his knife sharp beak. A Predator lunged itself over him, attempting to cling onto his back. He ducked as it came, and it collided with another Predator on the other side of him. His claws grabbed a Predator by its face and he tossed it at the cliff walls around, then with spreading his wings, he reared and leapt through the air. Many Predators spouted their wings and began following him. One was able to grab his tail, but with a short twist, he catapulted it into the stone walls.
With a sharp turn, Iloyn waited for the remainder of the Predators trying to catch him to come to him. They screamed like the hellish creatures the were and were in no time severed to pieces by Iloyn’s deadly talons. One finally wrapped itself around his neck and tried ripping away at his skin. Terror gripped him, and he tried shaking it off, but to no prevail.
He felt a searing pain break through his chest, and a red liquid patch was expanding from where it struck him. He felt light-headed, and everything went hazy. He couldn’t keep flying, and tried to land, but he passed out before he could.
Valora saw in the distance through the rain, Iloyn’s body falling. It hit the ground and was covered in the feasting bodies of Predators, she tasted a bitter taste in her mouth. Using the rain around her, she compressed every droplet she could get into a small ball and then let it blast away. An intensified beam of water exploded and wiped out a path of Predators which crashed into each other and died as they hit the wall with such force their skulls cracked.
Simon was back to back with Sophie, duelling a battalion of Predators it seemed. Sophie was casting minuscule fireballs that seemed so feeble as they nearly disappeared through the falling rain. Simon brought up a wall of rock, his muscles pushed to the limit and he could feel the energy being sapped out of him. They couldn’t do it anymore, their energy was spent and the Predators kept coming.
Sophie’s ankle was seized from behind and she screamed as she face-planted straight into the mud. She scrabbled to grip something but was only pulled even further back. Simon heard her cry and immediately let go of everything to help her. Summoning every ounce of energy in his body he leaped through the air, soaring over the Predators below and landed square in front of the Predator trying to take Sophie’s life. As he planted his feet firmly on the ground, he purposefully brought his foot down on the Predator’s wrist. It howled in pain and backed away, its arm ripping off as it was trapped under his foot still. Simon felt queasy as he saw Predator blood cover his black shoes, now red mixed with black. Sophie puffed frantically and stood up clumsily, and was in no time back into the battle.
Matt was jumping in the air, then when bringing his fist down on the ground he sent a wave of wind that tripped up every enemy within a few feet, some of which even broke a bone in their foot. He couldn’t keep it up for much longer and he would soon be overcome. A Predator jumped over h wave of air under it and made a lap at him. It bowled him over and pinned him to the ground. It raised its claw, ready to strike at his face and kill him. He closed his eyes to take the final blow; but instead of as he expected his energy would disappear, a new energy force suddenly took hold of his body.

more to come from this chapter!!! smilie but letting you know, the next chapter is..... 'OVERHEARD' a very mysterious chapter where they find something very important out smilie

He lost all fatigue and using this newfound energy, he did something he had never done before. Spreading his arms out, a massive single gale-like wind wiped them all clean off him. His vision turned blue like it had once before and he found he was enabled to do things he never dreamed of. Stamping his left foot on the dirt ground, a white slice of wind whirled from under his foot and began creating a small whirlwind. The dead and alive Predators were sucked in and bashed against each other, suffocating in a gassy air full of dust, dirt and stagnant water. Some where tossed out and slammed with almighty force to the stony walls around them.
Matt heard a yelling mass of people and saw Alarians running out of the gap in the rock, firing their bows and with no hesitation ran into battle to save the Guardians.
He lost concentration and the whirlwind slipped out of his power, as did the rest of his abilities. All energy vanished from him so that he didn’t even have the strength to stand up. His vision returned to normal, but the next second went black and he lost all feeling. He fell sideways in the turmoil into the water, rain still pouring down.

* * *

Mt. Cook Base, Southern Alps

Matt’s eyes slid open to the faces of Simon, Valora and Sophie with concerned expressions. He was lying on a soft, white bed with his head propped up against fluffy blue pillows. There was a light that shined brightly above and it took him a while to adjust his eyes to it. His head pounded like drum beats and he couldn’t remember what happened that time before How long had it been?
“You gave us a good scare you did.” Valora said, sitting down on a short three-legged stool as Matt sat up and pain bolted through his arm. He yelped with the sudden stress on his arm and fell back against his pillows. He gently turned his arm to see the source of his pains and saw there was a long cut, with encrusting blood. It was an least a centre metre or two deep going below the skin. He could barely bend his elbow without having a painful jolt shoot through his arm.
“Yes, a Predator seemed to have got to you before we did after you fainted out there.” Sophie said, they had obviously not left his side since they came here, wherever this was. Their hair was still mingled with dirt and could be seen to be slightly wet. Their clothes were still muddy, and were ripped like they would be after a battle.
“Well,” his voice croaked and it was sore and parched. “I’m just glad you guys are OK. Could I gat a drink of water or something?”
Valora turned away then came back not long after with a small wooden cup full of flouwan.
“It’s the last of our lot. But there’s plenty here.” She said, passing the cup.
“And here is where?” he asked after taking a good draught of the flouwan, and felt instantly energized. The pain in his arms vanished instantaneously, and as though he felt better, as soon as he tried to pull himself up to sit the pain returned and made him lie back down, his arm still aching.
“Well, the Mt. Cook base of course. We would’ve seriously been in trouble if you hadn’t gone all superman! You should’ve seen yourself man, you like created a tornado or something and wiped out half the Predators. It was insane! Then the other guys cam along and finished it, the Predators were running away their tails between their legs!” Simon patted him on the back softly, his glowing smile as radiant as ever. He sighed in relaxation as he found that they finally reached the Mt. Cook base at last.

END OF CHAPTER!!! haha I think you'll notice my chapters are soooo much longer than anyone else's lol.
