I actually thought she was really good.That's my opinion though.

She didn't add more emotion in her voice as Cynder in parts of her dialogue, she made Cynder sound bland.

Mae Whitman should've stayed as the voice of Cynder. I dunno what the producers were thinking they could add an inexperienced voice actress like Christina Ricci to voice a game character. She didn't have any experience of voicing an animated character.

Yes, Mae Whitman would be the best choice. She sounded properly older, seeing as Cynder had done and seen so much. She would be perfect for older Cynder. Christina Ricci just sounded........dippy.

The lack of emotion in Christine Ricci's voice was simply annoying IMO.
It hardly seemed like she tried. Also, if they wanted a teenage voice; they should've got Avril Lavigne. :3 And i'm not joking on that one.

I just found Christina Ricci's voice annoying, i enjoyed DOTD, just hated Cynder nd her voice actor. Could have shown more emotion. At the part where Ignitus died, i couldnt realise if she was either happy or sad. Spyro may have thought she was sad, but secretly she was dying out to laugh *shot* Thats how emotionless she was, Mae Whitman did a great job of voicing Cynder in TEN.

I disagree. Miley Cirus did a great job as the little girl in "Bolt". Granted, that probably has a lot to do with the direction she was given. I'm sure Ricci wouldn't have been quite as bad if her director had known what he was doing.

Ricci was pretty good, but she needed more emotion, and what little she had sounded almost fake. otherwise, she did a good job... only my opinion, i know.

I used to be obsessed with Cynder, but thanx to DotD I gave it up.
I only like ANB/TEN Cynder...she still rocks in those.
Cree Summer as adult Cynder in ANB and Mae Whitman as young Cynder in TEN did an amazing job, and gave Cynder her personality.
Ricci and her LACK of emotion pissed me off, seriosly

In your opinion. Most of us heard what Christina really made Cynder sound like: bland and emotionless. She didn't voice that many animated characters in the past, probably just voice only one minor character without any further voicework to progress her experience. She's good at acting in movies, but not VOICE ACTING.

She didn't do too badly for a character in a medium budget game

Yeah i'm with aura, it sounded flat at times, um mae whitmen was good. But then again, yeah shes a good actor but voice over work is a different story, sometimes you dont even have the charatcer in fornt of you and you just have to go just by the script. If they thought she was good, then anyone one of the girls on this forum can do as good or better without training. Eliajh wood has expierence with voiceover work, plus he's done the character before so he's got an idea of how spyro should act.

I agree that she wasn't the best, but she wasn't so bad. I also liked Mae Whitman, Cree Summer sounds like she should be in a horror flick

Actually, Aura24, I think Cynder was Ricci's very first voice acting role. If she'd been in the hands of a competent director, she could have been a lot better. But she wasn't (heck, if you think Wood was decent as Spyro, watch the movie "9" and hear what he sounds like under a real voice director; the difference is almost appalling, he's that much worse in LoS). Ultimately, I don't blame Ricci for her bad performance. Voice acting is not the same as physical acting and it's not entirely her fault that she wasn't so great at it.

As for why they did it, I tend to agree with the people who think they cast her entirely for her name and to hammer home the "OMG, Spyro/Cynder OTP!" angle. Ricci was Wood's first on-screen kiss, so in case you missed being beat over the head by the pairing in the previous two games, this was just further fodder for the fans.

yeah not to bad i guess, but can improve really, i guess some people can have no training expierence, but can get a hold of it really quickly. I know thats a case for some people in anything in life. Others may need practice.

Some actors perform well only if they get a decent salary.

meh i guess apoc, and the director thing makes sense, but also the voice of terrador, um dang i forgot his name, has a short role but does them well in the previous games, and dotd. He also did transformers 2 but then again he has previous expierence too so that counts too as well.

The reason Kevin Michael Richardson is so good in LoS is because he's a professional voice actor, a trained stage performer, and a professional opera singer. He voiced Terrador, Gaul, and several other characters throughout the games.

If you've only heard Mark Hamil as Malefor, do yourself a favor and go listen to his actual voice work (he was the Joker in the older animated Batman shows, among many other notable characters). They butchered his voice in DotD. >(

Oh boy i see a fight, but yeah mark hamil I remember he was the voice of the joker from the old batman series. Yeah i saw his voicing when he doing it real time, it sounds way different, more like the joker, and in DOTD it sounds way off. But yeah mae whitman did a good job so did cree summer, but billy west did a good job, He was good for sparx, i wouldnt bag on him.

I liked whoever did Cynder's voice in ANB.

Gotta love how your sole complaint is with me calling Billy West a pro. You may not have liked him as Sparx, but that doesn't change that he is the voice of dozens, if not hundreds, of memorable and loved characters and has been such for several decades.

I happened to like Billy West as Sparx, but he's an amazing voice actor and I've got my biases. I think David Spade phoned in his performance and was possibly drunk while Wayne Brady had a horrible script to work from and was a pretty major mis-cast for the role. Both of them have done much better work when in their proper element (playing himself and doing improve comedy, respectively) and under better direction.

I liked Billy West as Sparx as well, and David Spade.
