I won't, no need to worry about that. But I might not be around to write all the time.

I haven't planned on exactly what will happen, but at this point the scar in Spyro's face will be staying there. As the mole doctor said, it can't be healed with crystals like normal wounds can.

Also, try not to post many times in a row. It's against the forum rules, even though it's not such a big deal.

All right then.. I have been considering possible ways for the story to continue, and I almost have the next chapter finished. I'll add it tomorrow.

Chapter 43.

The grand towers of Warfang slowly rose out of the horizon, as Spyro and his new companions traveled onwards with a steady pace. Everybody had already forgotten the unpleasant exchange of words they had had earlier.
Spyro felt, for the first time in ages, fear.
Fear about what would happen when he met Cynder. Fear about how the guardians would react with him disappearing so suddenly. He had been, as they said, under a sort of quarantine.

"It seems like Cyril and Terrador have managed to keep the place intact." Mirra said in a joking manner.

Spyro heard Balak respond with a quiet laugh.

Suddenly, a bell rang in his head. Like he had forgotten about something.. Something about Cyril..
Then he remembered.

The day Cynder and Spyro last saw each other, the day Spyro got his scar, he had seen Cyril talking to Ember*. (*Chapter 21.)
He had completely forgotten about it. How, he wondered for a while, but decided it did not matter.

Spyro felt like he didn't know what to do. He wasn't sure what Cyril had against him and Cynder being together, but at least now he had some information of value to share with Cynder when he was going to meet her.

"If only she would listen..", Spyro thought. He knew Cynder well enough to tell that she would probably discard whatever Spyro had to say as an attempt to calm her down.

"So.." The voice of Mirra woke Spyro up from his thoughts.

"Huh?.." Spyro answered sluggishly.

"It's not really any of my business, maybe I'm just being curious.. But.." Mirra said.

"Ask away, I won't take offence." Spyro replied to him.

"How exactly do you plan to get Cynder to forgive you? From what I understood, you were the one who wronged her in the beginning." Mirra asked.

Spyro could've told him about Cyril and Ember, but instead decided to stay silent about it. "I'm not sure yet..", he answered, "But I'll think of something.."

"Are you talking about a woman!?", Balak grunted from behind them. "You didn't tell me he has one!" He said to Mirra.

"Sorry about that, I didn't think it was important." Mirra replied, "Besides, it's his business."

Balak happily jogged next to Spyro, leaned close to him, and with a voice that could only be described as a failed attemt to whisper quietly, said: "If you're having problems with ladies, remember. Women like strong men, it's in their blood.. When dealing with them, always stand tall and show your confidence."

Mirra coughed loudly.

"What, you don't believe me?" Balak asked him.

"No no, it's not that.." Mirra said, "It's just that we're talking about a female dragon, not an ape."

"What's the difference?.. I had a thing going with a dragon once." Balak said. Spyro couldn't tell if he was joking or not, but at that point Mirra was laughing loudly.

"Thanks Balak." Spyro said. He found a strange comfort in the old ape's advice.

The gates of Warfang we're already close, and Balak ordered his ape soldiers to stay outside the walls. No doubt the moles wouldn't be too eager to let them in.

Spyro, on the other hand, had other things to worry about..

I haven't planned on it. It could've been just a joke, if not, you'll probably hear a bit of it in the future.

Actually, I'm so full of ideas I might think of something for the next chapter right now.

Chapter 44.

Spyro, Balak and Mirra were considering alternate means of getting inside the city walls. Mirra was worried that Balak, being a large, dangerous-looking ape, wouldn't be let in.
Spyro, on the other hand would prefer remaining unnoticed. He didn't want the guardians to know he was back, and he also needed to find Cynder first.

The three came up with a plan of a sort. Spyro would remain outside the walls until dark, and then slip inside the city when the guards weren't watching. Mirra would try to get trough the gates with Balak, though how they would manage to do it was still under discussion.

"I could try to disguise you as a pack oxen." Mirra laughed to his own joke.

"Right, though they would probably start to wonder how a tiny cheetah like you could ever handle a creature as big as I am." Balak replied quickly. Spyro was a bit amused to listen to the two chatting, as he wasn't used to apes coming up with witty replies.

"But you forget that oxen are simple creatures." Mirra laughed, "Just like apes!"

"That's right. That's why I don't care much for all this planning." Balak looked around himself and sniffed the air, "We should go already. It'll be dark soon, and those guards won't trust anyone after the sun has set."

"You're probably right. Spyro, you know the city better than we do. Where should we meet up after dark?" Mirra asked Spyro.

"I'm not sure.." He said, then quickly thought about the small plaza on the southern side of the city. That was where he had first met Ember. "How about the southern plaza? Some of the buildings burned down about a month ago, so there aren't many people there." He then said.

"Good idea, now let's go." Balak grunted.

"Ah, yes. We better move out." Mirra got up, turned to Spyro and whispered: "Balak has gotten too used to giving out orders, don't you think?"

"I'm not sure. He seems to know what he is doing, so does it matter?" Spyro replied.

"Maybe not. It's not like I'm going to stop voicing my own opinions, so let's let him have his way every now and then.." Mirra said, then waved at Spyro and left towards the gates with Balak.

Spyro laid down to the ground and let time pass in silence..

Sorry about the extremely short chapter. I want to include what happens inside Warfang in a single chapter, so I decided it was best to cut this one short and not get into it yet.

I dunno. I have to plan it carefully first since the next chapter will be longer, and more important than usual.

I've done some work on it already, and I'll post it next week.

Ah hell, I was about to start writing but other things got my attention. I'll write more tomorrow, I think you can handle one day.

I had already started writing, but then I just slowly drifted into playing Diablo 2 and chatting on Skype.

I'll write the next chapter today, but not yet.

Chapter 45.

Spyro woke up from his sleep to gaze the starry sky, the waiting had gotten the better of him. He immediately rose to his wings and started to glide into the city's direction silently.

As he passed the city walls, he noticed that they were mostly empty. The lanters in the guard posts were unlit, and the absense of guards brought an unnerving feeling in Spyro's mind. Like something was wrong.
Still, as he dived in the sandstone jungle, he knew there was no turning back. He had to find Cynder and tell her what he knew.

The empty streets radiated an unwelcoming feeling around them. Spyro kept his mind focused on the plan he had cooked up with Mirra and Balak, and despite wanting to go look for Cynder alone, started to make his way to the southern plaza.

When he arrived the plaza looked deserted and dark, like all the streets around it. An odd feeling traveled through his spine as Spyro realized he had never witnessed the city this devoid of life. He hadn't seen anybody on his way here.
Memories flooded back to Spyro's mind. He could still remember the smell of smoke in his nostrils when he saved Ember from the burning house next to the plaza.

A sharp scraping sound emitting from behind him woke Spyro up from his dreams, and he quickly turned around to see where it came from.
He was greeted only by the shroud of the night.
Spyro took a few steps backwards, away from the dark alleys. He nervously started to eyeball his surroundings, and didn't let his guard down for a second.

"Mirra, is that you?" Spyro whispered. He didn't want to risk waking anybody up by shouting.

The scraping sound repeated itself, this time it seemed to come from separate directions. Spyro wasn't sure what to expect, and readied himself for a surprise.

While writing this I realized that this chapter was going to be too long to put in a single post, so I decided to separate it in two chapters. I'll try to post the second one in a few days.

Hey, at least I'm saving the action for later.

And I don't know Denragon. I eventually meant for this story to be a trilogy, but I haven't made the desicion yet.

I'm having problems thinking about possible things that could happen in the next chapter. I'll try to add something tomorrow morning.
