Hey guys. Long time no see.
Okay, this has been bothering me for years.
I was only about 4 or 5 when I first got Ripto's Rage and played it, so my memory is very bad. But I swear this happened...

The first time I put in the disk and turned it on, something popped up that told me to choose the starting level. I just chose the first one (which was apparently Glimmer, the actual first level) even though I wanted to choose the level with the dinosaur thingies (can't remember the name...). Then the Spyro game started normally, and the first level was, obviously, Glimmer. I don' remember anything after that, except that I wanted the screen to pop up again so I could change it.

Now apparently I must have been either hallucinating or dreaming, because I can't get it to happen again and no one else seems to have had this happen. Ugh, it's so annoying. Has anyone else had this happen, or am I just crazy?

It's odd, but that sounds kind of familiar... It might have been another game that had that option.

Hm.. that's weird, never happened to me, maybe it was a dream, or a hack, or maybe even a glitch, who knows.

Sounds familiar, but no, never had it happen to me...

EDIT: Are you sure you're thinking of Spyro 2? 'Cuz Spyro 1 has a world select as a cheat code
---
The thing I never really wrapped my brain around until now was in order to be remembered, in order to leave something significant behind, you have to leave

There's no level select for Spyro 2, that's just ridiculous, Spyro the Dragon however has a level selection when you go to the Balloonist, you could be getting confused with that.

Sounds like you grabbed either a beta version of the game or a hack. Odd that it won't work for you again.

Hmm... You sure you know it wasn't a demo?

Because I know at least 2 demos where you can choose 2 levels. One is in Crash Team Racing, and another one was in a demo disc I own.

The demo disc had Skelos Badlands and Sunny Beach, while the CTR demo had Magma Cone and Colossus.

Maybe you played a 3rd demo that had Glimmer and some other level? smilie
