This fanfiction takes place about a year after the end of my other fanfiction, 'Malefor- giving up freedom as self-punishment'. You have to imagine that DotD took place on Earth, not the planet with the two moons...
BTW Melanie is a white elemental dragon who was once a friend of malefor, before she had to send him into imprisonment and was frozen in the process. you have to read the other fanfic to get it.

Chapter 1
Quite long after the infamous lava golem and the destroyer issued their destruction on the world, something was still bugging Melanie. What were they? It was easy to just say a golem and the destroyer, but were they really the only ones, just monsters made with dark magic? melanie just shook her head, deciding it wasn't worth worrying about. Spyro came in, looking rather pleased with himself. He was holding dark indigo-ish spiked crystal shards, handed Melanie one.
"Souveniers. Don't worry, the dark magic is gone." Spyro said.
"These are the crystals from the golem and the destroyer..." Melanie said. "Wierd, I was just thinking about them."
"You were thinking about them? What exactly were you thinking?" Spyro asked, a bit surprised.
"I was wondering.... what are they?" Melanie asked shyly.
"A golem and the destroyer... powered by dark magic." Spyro replied. Melanie gave Spyro a smirk that said 'predictable'.

Spyro and Melanie stared at eachother for a moment, having a mental blank. Air rushed past them, catching their attention as a dragon landed down. He was a wyvern, a type of dragon with no front legs but very powerful arm-like wings. The wyvern was a dark- almst black- blue and was covered in loads of white, yellow or purple spots. It took Spyro a while to recognise the element, but Melanie knew it instantly. The wyvern was a space element dragon! He smiled at the two dragons and introduced himself.
"Greetings! My name is Kashae." He said. "You must be Spyro and Melanie, two of the three very brave warriors I heard of."
"Hey!!! What about me?" Sparx said, hardly being noticed.
"They say the bravest dragons went to planet Terrepyra and built cities on the backs of Danturidu." Kashae continued. While Spyro and Melanie stared confused, Cynder came out and looked at Kashae.
"What'd I miss?" She said.
"The dragon council has decided to invite you, Spyro, Melanie.... and Sparx.... on a once in a lifetime trip to Terrepyra." Kashae said.
"Wait.... Terrepyra's real? What are the Danturidu?" Melanie asked.
"They're the much bigger two legged relatives of the Hawruk. You'll learn more when you're there." Kashae answered. Melanie, Spyro, Cynder and Sparx looked at eachother confused. How would they get to another planet?

"Pack your belongings, some snacks and some water, I'll be waiting here." kashae said. "We can get some extra supplies when we stop at the nearby space station." Melanie, Spyro, Cynder and Sparx went into the temple to pack their belongings.
"Nutcase....." Sparx mumbled. After a few minutes, they came out with their bags.
"We're ready!" Cynder said.
"How will we get there?" Melanie asked. Kashae laughed and put a magical forcefield around them. The forcefield lifted up into the air at geat speed, and in around ten minutes they were in outer space.
"No way!!!" Sparx said, uncovering his eyes.
"We... we're in space!" Spyro gasped. They were all floating in the forcefield, viewing the spectacular sights. Kashae laughed and the forcefield bubble began speeding out of the solar system.

After about five hours in space, the group approached a space station which they entered. Many space dragons and a few others were there, ready to give them supplies.
"We should stay here for a while to relax..... besides, I need to regain magic energy to make another forcefield." Kashae said. Spyro, Cynder, Melanie and Sparx were guided over to some bedrooms reserved for them. Kashae went into a room completely filled with crystals and began gaining strength from them.
"Hey Spyro...... do you think that thing about brave dragons building cities on the back of those dantu-something is true?" Melanie asked Spyro.
"I think it's just a myth Kashae was told.... or made up...." Spyro replied, relaxing on his bed.
"I wonder what Terrepyra looks like..... what the weather isn like... what the wildlife is like....." Cynder said.
"My guess is Terrepyra was named after earth and fire...." Sparx said, crossing his arms.
"Clever one." Spyro replied.
"Ummmm...... earth fire? Don't really like the sound of that......" Cynder said.
"Relax, it's just a name. Earth has more water than land, but we don't call it 'the wet and soggy planet', do we?" Melanie laughed. Cynder gave her a wierd look.

A few hours later, Kashe walked into the rooms and told the others it was time to continue their travelling. Cynder, Sparx, Spyro and Melanie packed their bags and walked into Kashae's space forcefield. Kashe walked out of the space station and took off towards a distant star.
"About cities being built on the backs of Danturidu..... That's just a myth, right?" Cynder asked. Kashae just laughed as a reply.
"Guess that's a yes....." Cynder mumbled to herself. The trip through space took many hours, but all the beautiful new sights kept everyone from becoming bored. When there wasn't anything to look at, they played games like I spy. Although no-one could really think of anything other than star, nebula, darkness, Kashae, black hole and proto-planetary disc. As they approached the star they were flying to, Kashae seemed a little stressed and tired.
"Melanie, I underestimated the amount of energy needed to sustain this forcefield for the trip...... could you take over? It should only take another ten minutes. I'll guide you there." Kashae said. Melanie nodded and remembered what the dragon guardian of space taught her many millenia ago. She kept the forcefield from dissappearing as they flew closer to a planet that seemed grassy but volcanic.

Good chapter

As the group ventured closer and closer towards planet Terrepyra, the two moons became visible. One was just like Earth's moon, only closer to the planet and much bigger, while the other one was smaller and covered in bright green foliage. Everyone graced themselves for entering the planet's atmosphere. Spyro made an ice forcefield so they wouldn't burn up, while Cynder used wind to make the landing softer. Everyone looked around at the planet. It was very volcanic, yet green grass was present all around. There were quite a few rivers, too.
"Well.... we made it! Thank you for all your help. Follow me." Kashae said, before flying off to a nearby large with a city on it. The dragons, and Sparx, were greeted by the citezins of the Terrepyra city.
"Oh Kashae, using forcefields and space travel still? We use teleportation magic and portals now." One of the citezins laughed. Kashae cringed as Spyro, Cynder, Melanie and Sparx gave him a wierd look. Melanie noticed many splits, cracks and collapses in the buildings.
"Do you have earthquakes often?" She asked.
"Well.... you could kinda say that....." The citezen replied. All of a sudden, the ground was shaking and moving. But it was moving upwards.

After about half a minute, the ground stopped moving upwards and was slowly moving forwards.
"What the heck is going on?" Cynder asked. The group ran outside the city to the edge of some grassland. They looked down to see that they were on top of some giant bipedal creature made of rock and lava. It had a long tail, a short think neck and long curved horns.
"I know this thing...... it's......" Spyro said.
"The destroyer!" Cynder continued.
"Actually, the species name is the Danturidu......" Kashae said sheepishly. Everyone looked at him slightly annoyed.
"Guess it wasn't a myth." Melanie said. "Wait.... isn't it dangerous having a city on the back of a big moving beast? Why not build the cities down there on the planet's surface?" Melanie asked, pointing to a huge grassy plain down below.
"Actually, it's safer up here." a random citezen replied. "Down there a Danturidu could smash us to pieces, or we could suffer the slow fate of a hawruk. But up here nothing will touch us but the really wierd looking native birds."
"What's a hawruk?" Sparx asked nervously.

"Hawruks are similar to danturidu, but much smaller, the size of a large building. They have four crab-like legs, long arms and fingers and beaked mouth. They also have tails." Kashae replied. Spyro and Cynder tried to picture a creature that fit the description. It seemed so farmilliar.
"Some larger hawruks have patches of grass and earth on their backs, but they usually don't." Kashae continued.
"The lava golem!" Spyro and Cynder said at the same time.
"The lava golem!" Sparx said, delayed. Down on the ground, two hawruks were fighting eachother. One smashed the other on the head, exposing dark indigo crystals spewing out fireballs. The injured hawruk screeched in anger and tossed the other one into the water.
"Gosh, their violent." Melanie said.
"As I said, it's safer up here." Kashae replied. A few well trained dragons flew down to the freshwater stream with large buckets.
"Are they collecting water for their city?" Spyro asked.
"Yes, it's really the only way, apart from occasional rain. It's dangerous, only the bravest dragons are trained for it." Kashae replied.

"No it's not, only if there are hawruks nearby. The two that were here beore just left." said one of the dragons before he flew down. Spyro, Cynder and Melanie gave Kashae smiles that clearly showed they wanted to go down.
"Okay fine... I said it was dangerous because I'm a scaredy-cat......" Kashae said, walking to the edge of the danturidu's back.
"Besides, they've been through heaps more dangerous and scary stuff..... but that doesn't mean I want to go down...." Sparx said.
"Come on Sparx, Kashae's coming, you should too." Spyro said. Sparx rolled his eyes and followed the group as they flew down to the land below. Melanie looked up and the giant, ferocious danturidu, still amazed that it was safest to build cities on their backs. The group wandered around while other dragons collected water. They flew over to edge of a cliff, made sure it wasn't a sleeping danturidu and landed on it. Suddenly, there was a loud crashing and rumbling, then a rather scary looking hawruk pulled the upper half of its body up and was staring directly at Kashae, Cynder, Spyro, Melanie and Sparx, who was mumbling lullabies to himself. The dragons tried to fly away, but the hawruk grabbed Kashae, not out of aggression but curiousity. The others turned around as the hawruk looked at the struggling wyvern and opened his mouth. Spyro, Cynder and Melanie began beating the hawruk's hand until it screeched in anger and pain and let go of Kashae. Now it was ANGRY.

Good part

The hawruk was furious, so it began trying to smash whatever it could or slap anything that flew. the dragons only suffered a few minor hits, but Sparx only just missed being completely squashed! Spyro, Cynder, Melanie and Sparx helped Kashae up and they all flew away. The angry hawruk breathed hot orange fumes (not fire) which sent them flying out of control, but luckily some of the dragons collecting water helped them back to the city.
"That..... will haunt me for a while....." Kashae said, shivering.
"Let's go back down there sometime!" Melanie exclaimed.'
"Let's NOT!" Sparx replied.
"Just be happy we're all okay." Spyro said. Another danturidu could be seen walking around slowly in the distance. It kicked a few hawruks in its way. There silhouettes could be seen flying off the ground in front of the sunset.
"We could visit that other city, while it's still around here. It should be safe travelling between them." Kashae said.

Nice part

After a few minutes of preparation and safety advice, the group flew off towards the city on the other danturidu. The ground below was both abundant with plants and volcanic at the same time. Some citizens on the other city could see them coming, and waved in a welcoming manner, knowing who they were. The danturidu wasn't in a rush to get anywhere, so it wasn't moving too fast. Spyro, Cynder, Melanie, Sparx and Kashae landed and were taken into the city.
"Welcome! Terrepyra has been expecting you." One of the citizens said cheerfully. "Feel free to unpack at one of the inns, they have been made free just for you."
"Wow! Free accomodation! Nice!" Sparx said enthusiastically. Kashae led the group into a nice looking hotel. The buildings weren't very tall, if they were they would easily fall over from the constant movement. As night approached, everyone took a moment to gaze up at the two beautiful moons, before going to bed. Even the danturidu came to a stop and curled up to sleep. It could have easily been mistaken for a mountain.

Sorry 'bout the big delay.

The next morning, Sparx was the first one awake. He quietly flew outside, noticing some creatures flying in the distance, coming towards the city.
"Yay! Birdies!" Sparx said enthusiastically. As the creatures got closer, their features became more visible. They were serpent-like, with wing arms, feathered tails and four small crab-like legs. They had large bottom jaws and no eyes and were a browny-red colour.
"Those aren't birds! We're all gonna die!" Sparx yelled, recognising them as the same creatures that he first encountered in the cheetah village. As Sparx flew back into the room, he flew past Kashae, who was woken by the screaming. Kashe stood outside and watched the flying creatures come closer and land on the buildings. They didn't seem bothered by the presence of anyone else.
