Private Status isn't private any more... [CLOSED]

You can look at the time they last visited a page to see if they are online or not, so not very private much.

By "private" on forums, it's usually referring to seeing whether a person is currently online or not. A notice stating when the person last visited a page isn't necessarily indicative of his/her online status. The person could very well be offline by the time you see that message.

It takes half a second to log out. And it takes how long for a page to load, for you to scroll(if needed) and read what time it was posted?

There is no reason to have private/invisible/hidden status enabled for anything (even out of DS) unless you have done something so bad that you don't want to be seen.

I don't. You don't hide from someone or a community unless you done something untoward to them, right?

I view invisible status for people who have done something bad and want to hide themselves in shame. I've never used invisible for anything.

Actually, I can think of a reason besides "shame" that someone might want to be invisible. I sometimes hide my status on forums when I don't want people to PM me, for multiple reasons.

Same here, Stormy. Shame isn't the only reason to hide. My cousin has an account here, so I have to hide from her. She scares me smilie

You would also want to hide your status for people who annoy you or you don't want anyone to know you are online so much. There are many reasons to hide your status not just because you did something.

And you can't help people that can see that you've visited, that's not something you can take out. If they message you or something about it you don't have to answer them.
