This movie will be based off of the Legend Of Spyro series, and will be a 3-D Animation movie. (I did not find this personally. All credit goes to those who found this before me. Good job guys!!!!)

I feel that it is a bad idea to make a Spyro movie. Making a game (an experience that you, the player, are directly involved in) into a movie (an experience in which you are told how to feel) has yet to work out well. The fact that the film is in 3D makes it even more dismal because 3D films are often made to be cheap thrills that will, the studios hope, gross a lot of money (they usually don't).

The people who are making this film are complete unknowns. The only films to their credit are straight to DVD movies (always a bad sign). If this movie turns out to be even remotely worth seeing, I will be pleasantly surprised. But, at the moment, I am not happy to hear this news and I think it's a very bad idea.

The main problem is that usually, the studios creating the movies make no efforts whatsoever and create a very cheap experience or/and bastardize the video game excessively. A few interesting twists and changes to the story can be fun... but not in the way it's usually done.

The failure of such movies is not because it cannot work but due to laziness. Just think about it. Why spend time making a good video game-based movie when you know that the fans will buy the movie anyway and that the others will dismiss it as kiddy or/and a silly cash-in?

I agree with you, "Razz". Why make a bad movie of Spyro???? Why can't they make a normal 2-D movie that everyone will enjoy???? Maybe it's because not a lot of people like Spyro. I bet you money that when the Spyro movie comes out, not a lot of people will care to see it. But if a Halo movie came out...Lets just say Spyro would be forced to the shadows. *Sigh*. I guess that's life. I just hope our hero Spyro can hold out for a few more years.

I agree... video games are generally screwed by two methods... movies and television shows. And we're only lucky Nick snagged Tak instead of Spyro... >.>

I want to state my opinion about Spyro's movie being 3D.

To me, it's an obvious fact that it SHOULD be 3D, like in the games. Do you REALLY picture Spyro in a classic cartoon/anime style? Personally, I don't (not the Legend of Spyro version, anyway).

I'd say that we should wait until, at least, the trailers until we start throwing tomatoes or flowers.

I agree with you "Zerodius". We should probably wait until a trailer of it comes out before we give it any critisism. But still!!!! "Hir's" right. They normally twist a game that is popular and make it into a completely lame movie/T.V. Show. Why do they do that???? They have plenty of money to use in order to make a pretty decent movie/T.V. Show. Maybe it's because they're lazy. I really hope they don't do this to Spyro, though. It's a lot of money to pay for a 3-D Movie. And I'd like to see a movie worth seeing!!!!

Sorry I haven't posted recently. But so far there is very little information on this game yet!!!! There's not even a trailer!!!! But I'll continue my search. I'll try to get back to you people as soon as I find some new data on this movie.

You guys are going to be waiting for awhile. The writers are on strike now and that will affect production of the Legend of Spyro based film. However, since I am not on strike I will continue working on Legacy of Ages Spyro film. So at least one of the two films will come out at some point in the near future.

I prefer the classic Spyro games compared to the new ones (although I still love every single Spyro game out there).

Well I never saw it coming but I'm not surprised because the cutscenes in legend of spyro is like watching a movie.

Even if the movie is bad, I'm still gonna see it and buy it on DVD. It will be the only Spyro movie out there. I also hope that if the movie is pretty decent, they'll make sequals to the movies.

Something about Spyro movie

I told my sis about this and she said she can imagine a movie based on the game's storyline and that she'll come and watch with me if I want to go when it comes out (even though she doesn't play Spyro games). The storyline might sound fine but the real question is whether they will make the storyline look good in the movie.

It's so awkward trying to imagine a Spyro movie when we're so used to Spyro games...

Well, the movie isn't going to be released until 2009, "bionicle2809". And I heard a rumor that the 3rd Legend Of Spyro Game (the 8th console game, by the way) is going to be released around the same time as its previous games from 1-2 years before, which would mean that the game would be released around October 2008. So it wouldn't reveal the 3rd game at all. The 3rd game would've already been out, so they wouldn't be revealing anything new.

I just hope that the writers will think about us fans, and care alot for the movie to be really good that would be herd of for a long time lol. I also hope that they will look at a directer that has good reviews on all of their movies, and ask them if they are interested to make a Spyro film. I wish it were easy to like contact a directer, and ask them if they can make the movie for us. lol

Well, if it's him, then I hope he does a better job on this movie. No offence to this guy, or to any of the fans who like this movie, but the Eragon movie that was made wasn't really that good. I really hope this movie is good. If it isn't, then I doubt they'll make anymore Spyro movies. So, I want this movie to get good reviews, and be a great movie to view.

Well, I finally saw the preview pic and...

... oh dear god...

Okay, so I'm not usually negative but this... THIS deserves it.

The pic itself speak for itself ; they seemingly broke one of the most important and vital points of the Spyro franchise which is: SPYRO IS A HATCHLING.

Not only that but his looks are a bastardized version of the old and new looks merged into one ugly mess. He has none of the old-school charm and clean look and none of the cuteness and reptilian realism of the new look. The result is an absolutely horrific mess.

As for it produced by the producers of Eragon... this scares me, A WHOLE LOT. Yes, I am of those who hate Eragon, both the book and movie, and the fact that the people who made that particuliar movie will work on the Spyro one gives me big worries.

Sure, there are STILL chances the movie might not suck... but so far, I do not like where it is going.
