Ok... So a topic in the DOTD section made me think of something... If the scene of Ignitus' death was different it would change the whole of the game after that scene... So I decided to write a story about what I think would happen... In other words, an alternative ending to 'Dawn of the Dragon'.

Chapter I: Loss of a Hero

The three dragons landed on the stone ground infront of a large wall of fire. Ignitus staired at it curiously and with a nervious tone in his voice he said, "I should be able to offer some protection from the heat." Spyro and Cynder looked up at him worridly. Spyro had felt bad about leaving Sparx behind. He had known him ever since he was born but he knew that Malefor had to be defeated and that he couldn't back away from that. "Stay close to me..." Ignitus continued. Spyro and Cynder stood closer to him as a large sky blue sphere accumulated around him like a blue cloud. The three of them cautiously walked into the belt of fire. Ignitus looked down but as he began to grow tierd the sphere began to fade. "Ignitus," Spyro said looking up at Ignitus "Lets turn back, theres got to be another way!" He said looking around as if trying to find a way back. Ignitus sighed as he looked at the two of them. "Spyro, Cynder, I have never done right by either of you. Allow me to do this..." He said streatching his neck forwards.

Spyro shook his head worried at what Ignitus meant. "What are you saying!" He asked nerviously. Ignitus looked down at him and then to Cynder. "My path ends here, but yours lies beyond this... Draw strength from eachother and follow your heart. It will never fail you..." He whispered to the two of them as he streatched out his wings and began to shine brighter than anything the two Dragons had ever seen. "Now go... Go... Go!" He yelled as the two of them hurdled through the air and landed on the ground on the other side of the belt of fire. Spyro had just realised what Ignitus had done. He walked up to the belt of fire and yelled "Ignitus! No!" But just before he could jump forwards Cynder yelled behind him. "Spyro stop! Its too late, you can't do anything for him now..." She said with an upset tone in her voice. Spyro shook his head in dinial and said "No! He isn't gone!" Cynder shook her head at him. She began to walk up to him. "Spyro, let it go..." She said as if she was about to cry.

Spyro lowered his head and and sighed. His eyes began to shine but before Cynder could say anything he gave out a yell. "No!" He yelled as he began to hover in the air. A dark shadow surrounding him. Cynder knew edsactly what had happened. "No! Spyro don't do this!" She yelled to him pulling him away from the belt of fire with the chain that Malefor had imprisoned them with. "You can't stop me!" He yelled, his voice echoed in Cynder's ears. He tugged Cynder closer to the belt as he turned around to face the bazling fire. "Your right, only you can do that! Please Spyro, don't do this!" She yelled to him but as she did he reached one of his front paws into the fire. A large blue cloud accumulated around him, similar to the one that Ignitus had used to save Spyro and Cynder. "No! This is what he wants! Please Spyro!" She yelled as he began to go deeper into the belt of fire. Her claws scrapped across the stone as she attempted to pull him back. Spyro was too strong. She began to cry as she turned around to see Spyro dissapear into the belt of fire knowing that she would soon be dragged in with him.

Chapter II: The Belt of Fire

Spyro flew through the belt of fire trying to find Ignitus. "Ignitus!" He yelled with his dark echoing voice. There was no response. "Ignitus! Where are you!" He yelled again. He began to feel more angry by the minute. If he couldn't find Ignitus then he couldn't go on. He suddenly heard a faint noise in the distance. "Ignitus!" He yelled as he flew in the direction of the noise. He eventually stumbled upon the body of a large red Dragon lying on the floor burnt. "Don't worry Ignitus! I'll save you!" Spyro said as he closed his eyes and began to expand the blue sphere to fit around Ignitus. 'No!' A voice yelled in Spyro's head, 'Leave him! He is no use to you any more. Cynder will never know what you have done... You will never have to tell her.' It continued. Spyro looked down at Ignitus with a large grin on his face. "Spyro, thank you..." Ignitus said unaware of what Spyro was doing. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry Ignitus..." He said sarcasticly and as he did he flew away from the large red body and followed the glowing green chain back to Cynder.

She lay on the floor frightened for her life. She knew that something very odd had happened. She had expected the chain to tug at her but as Spyro flew further away the chain grew longer with him. Cynder stepped back from Spyro as she saw two glowing eyes returning from the fire. "W-w-what happened?" She stuttered nervously. Spyro, pretending to look angry, walked up to her. "He's dead! Its my fault! I wasn't quick enough!" He yelled walking around Cynder. She looked at him worriedly. She didn't like Spyro's glowing white eyes ever since the night of eternal darkness in the mountain. She thought of them as a warning, a warning of danger on the horizon like a lighthouse warning sailors of rocks. "So what now... Do we go on?" She asked worriedly. Spyro nodded as he turned around to the opposite direction of the fire. Cynder didn't dare question why Spyro had not yet returned back to his normal form. She slowly followed him as he walked down the stone path without any worry. She slowly sneeked up behind him worried about what happened to him. She tried to act as if she hadn't noticed that there was something wrong. That he was the Spyro she had known for so very long.

Chapter III: The Burnt Lands

Cynder walked carefuly behind Spyro. She tried to keep her distance away from him. She was worried. The last time Spyro had turned to the darkness she thought she had lost him forever and now it looked like she had. Spyro walked up to a large stone wall and as he did he closed his eyes. He muttered to himself in a strange language that Cynder had never heard of or could understand. A large white light shone out of the stone wall and made the shape of an arch. The stone under the glowing arch dissapeared in a bright light. Spyro walked through the arch and infront of him stood a group of creatures lined up infront of him. He stood infront of a hero Orc and yet again began to speak in a strange language. Cynder had just realised what he was doing He was talking to the army, to Malefor's army. Cynder stopped as the line seperated and allowed Spyro through. "No!" She yelled. Spyro turned around to face her. His white eyes shining into hers blinding her for a breif moment. "Come Cynder... Come to see your Master..." Spyro said with a sinister echo in his voice.

Cynder shook her head. "No... This isn't right!" She yelled to him. The line of Malefor's army pulled out their weapons and pointed them at Cynder. "No!" Spyro yelled to them. He began talking to the army again. "Stop! This isn't you!" Cynder yelled to him interupting what he was saying to the army. "Come with me Cynder..." He said camly as he walked away from her. "No... NO! She yelled to him. He turned around and sighed. "I didn't want to have to do this Cynder..." He said as he turned to face her. He reached out his hand and from it came a bolt of purple lightning that pulled the chain around Cynder's neck closer to Spyro. In less than a second she was standing directly ifront of Spyro panting for breath. "What... What did you do..." She asked as her breathing sped up. "I told you... Now don't make me to that again!" He said as he lifted her chin to his height. "Now... Come with me!" He whispered. She worridly followed him as he looked infront of himself at the volcaino bellow Malefor's lair.

Chapter IV: The Truth

Cynder stood beside Spyro as he looked up at the volcaino. "Cynder... In just a few hours the Destroyer will have completed its journey... We only have a few hours to live... And no matter how much I know your going to deny it, I want to spend thoes last few hours with you..." He said as he turned around to face her. Cynder turned her head to face the volcaino and then Spyro again. "No! You... This is a trap... This isn't you! This is Malefor! He's trying to keep us together... He always has been!" Cynder yelled to him. Spyros eyes faded to his normal shimmering purple eyes as the dark shadowy cloak around him faded away and and revlieled his purple scales underneith. "And how would you know that?" Spyro asked worried for an answer. Cynder lowered her head as a tear dripped from her eye and onto the stone hard floor bellow her. "I- I'm sorry Spyro... I'm so sorry..." She said. Spyro shook his head as he steped away from her. "No..." He repeated to himself over and over again. "You... You changed! Is that why you ran away? Is that why you went to the well of souls?" Spyro asked walking closer to her.

"No..." She began as she walked up to him. "Malefor and I... Had a deal... It was part of the plan for you to save me but after you did I felt like I no longer had to do as Malefor said... I tried to forget... But then the gult was with me, I felt like I had betrayed you... All the time I was at the temple... Thats why I left... Thats why the apes attacked that night... They were looking for me..." Cynder said. Spyro shook his head, he wanted to believe her but there was something about Cynder that he could no longer trust. If it was all part of the plan then Malefor must have known that everything that had happened would happen. "Did he intend to kill me... Did he intend to destroy my egg all thoes years ago..." Spyro asked. Cynder shook her head. "He wanted you alive... He wanted all the others dead so no one would get in the way between him and you..." She said. Spyro's eyes narrowed and the white light returned. "Why should I trust you! You've tried to kill me before but now... I have the power. And don't think that I havn't thought of the possibility of me being the cause of your end is something that I would take deep regret in!" He said as his began to grow in size rapidly infront of Cynder's eyes.
